Dr. Epstein fully documents these truths with great force and clarity. Having read the book, it would be difficult not to believe these truths, to fully take them in, and to act accordingly.
Masterfully, exhaustively, irrefutably, Dr. Epstein exposes this dirty little game that has been snowing the American public for the last 25 years. And he makes a powerful case that, in the field of cancer as in no other, an ounce of prevention is indeed worth a pound of cure. Cancer, once contracted, is generally a very tough disease to treat successfully. But, in very many cases, it can be prevented by avoiding known cancer-causing agents in the environment, in the workplace, and in consumer products.
Not only is "THE POLITICS OF CANCER Revisited" inspiring in its revelations and recommendations. It is a magnificent reference tool, one I have put on my shelf for ready access whenever I want to know if a particular cosmetic, food additive, drug, work setting -- or part of the country -- is carcinogenic and therefore to be avoided.

This is what I like about it:
These gentlemen are giants in the English choral music scene, and personify the English choral tradition in everything they do. So it's a pleasure to find that they have included many carols from other countries, as well as the English ones. It's very hard to find non-English-language carols, so this is a nice little collection.
Their 4-part arrangements are imaginative but easy enough to sight-sing.
It also includes a listing of church festivals other than Christmas, with the names and page numbers of carols that would be appropriate for each.
For ease of navigation as you're singing, the verses are in Roman type while the refrains are in italics.
For reasons that are not clear, they have chosen to include the text in the original language in some cases, but not all. The foreign language texts are immediately under the English translations, so you can sing in either language.
At the very end of the book is the order of service for the traditional Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols, with instructions on the appropriate rank of each person to read, from chorister to bishop.
If you are only going to buy one carol book, this and the Oxford Book of Carols are the best ones to consider. The Oxford has more in it, and is hugely more expensive, so I recommend this one! it'll take you several Christmasses to sing your way through it.

David Hildebrand does me two incredibly welcome favors with this work. First, he gets me started in the right place. That is, he gets me out of theoretical epicycles and returns me to the radical world of reality. Needless to say, having a proper starting point makes a huge difference that I notice immediately.
Next, he tells me what philosophy is capable of. That is, philosophy can actually be engaged in as a MEANS to study, perchance to improve, the experience I find myself immersed in before I open my mouth to speak or poise my pen to write or or even begin to compose sentences.
I have turned an important corner here in my own personal quest to effect improvements in the world. If I never learned where to start or how to employ philosophy, then I'd remain lost in it's self-absorbed, subjective/reflective mazes until I died.
While I admit benefitting from having an erudite response constructed logically to help contextualize Putnam & Rorty, I enjoy most of all the freedom to take my own personal set of capabilities, such that they are, and investigate whether or not I am able to effect improvement in the real world.
I feel very much liberated and very much encouraged in being a practically-minded human creature.
I will add my own deeply sincere thanks to those of the other reviewers here. I look forward to what follows this volume.
although Putnam and Rorty consider themselves pragmatists they have failed to understand the more radical and significant insights of Dewey's philosophy. His criticism is not superficial. He
makes an effort to understand even the particular differences between Putnam and Rorty. Bravo!!!!!!!!!!
