Excellet Book
If you want to understand about Gas Dynamics, better read this book. It can be either used as a text book or as a reference. A must for a person dealing with thermo-fluid mechanics.

Excellent Gas Dynamics Resource
I used this book in Graduate School at Purdue in a Gas Dynamics class taught by the co-author, J.D. Hoffman. A excellent, in-depth text, that starts with the fundamentals and builds. The best and most comprehensive book on the subject I've seen.

After reading this book, I felt like I could better understand aromatherapy. It is very descriptive, and easy to follow.

An essential reference tool for aromatherapists
With so many books on aromatherapy available, it's difficult to know what's really valuable. The authors of so many books have few medical or scientific credentials and take a highly impressionistic approach. For this reason alone, to find a book like this written by a chemist is a rare treat. And, since this is a chemist writing in 1936, we find the source of much of today's common knowledge of the discipline - from the man who made it a discipline and coined the word 'aromatherapy'. Translator Louise Davids and editor Robert Tisserand offer us a natural-reading translation with the added benefit of an editor's introduction which places the book in its historical context. Tisserand points out that "as a chemist Gattefosse was not a part of the natural therapy movement and he did not share [today's] holistic, 'alternative' approach." That comes as a great relief to those of us who want some reliable chemical basis for our choices of oils. Even more useful are the copious notes Tisserand provides throughout the book, sometimes to explain terminology, more often with comments on Gattefosse's observations in the light of today's knowledge.

Guide to the Pianist's Repertoire
Published in Hardcover by Indiana University Press (2001)

This is the pianist's bible.
Hinson's book is the best (and possibly the only) comprehensive list of all piano music out there today. Organized by composer, the Guide offers brief descriptions of all piano music by that composer, who publishes it, and how difficult it is to play.

I would be lost without this reference book. It's given me scores of ideas for new repertoire over the years and has saved me from wasting time on others. It's also sent me on many exciting library music stack searches, trying to locate out-of-print music.

Thank you, Mr. Hinson. I eagerly await your updated version of this fine book.

Simply the best piano music "catalog" in existence!!!
If any music has ever been published, you will find it very easily here

A great book
Anyone who took the AP in biology should just look at this book a couple days before. I took the AP and then two days before I read the entire book. The book is very thorough and goes through every possible topic. After reading this book I got a 790 on the satII. If your a freshman and are planning to take the AP in your juniour year I would highly suggest that you wait until you take the AP since most freshman bio classes are insufficient for the satII, especially freshman in NY since the idiots in Albany made a stupid living environment course. However if you study hard from this book and your a good bio student you probably will be able to pull off a 700. I would also suggest to take the molecular. Its actually quite easy especially for AP students. The ecology part is more like interpeting pictures which is hard to study. Also dont waste your time on any other book. This is all you need.

Good Tips
I got this one in preparation for the SAT II. It's really good, and you don't need a lot of time to read it. Most of the stuff is short, only putting the things you need to know. Great study guide

I Want to Paint My Bathroom Blue

Authors: Ruth Krauss and Maurice Sendak

A young boy has big plans for the house where he lives
When you think of the detailed line drawings Maurice Sendak created for his classic children's book "Where the Wild Things Are," these water color illustrations will seem quite simple in comparison. The difference of course, is in the story being told. Author Ruth Krauss captures the free-spirited thought processes of young children in this whimsical romp through the mind of a young boy who wants to paint his bathroom blue. He has many other ideas about how the house in which he lives should be and quickly lets his imagination run away. His simple thoughts are captured by Sendak's eloquent art work. However, in the end I think it is the thoughts expressed in this story, rather than the artwork, that will capture the imagination of young children. Krauss gives children the freedom to think about the world they want to live in, which is a pretty great gift.

Lovely quiet dreamy book
I read the tattered library copy of this book to my daughter for years. I'm thrilled it is re-published. It is the story of a fanciful, silly, invented world.

A Timeless Treasure.....
Almost fifty years ago, Ruth Krauss and Maurice Sendak collaborated on this special little book, told from a child's perspective, about love and friendship (love is the same as like/only you spell them different-/only more of the same, sort of-/Love has more stuff in it!), and it is as fresh and meaningful today, as it was back in the early fifties. I'll Be You And You Be Me is a marvelous collection of poems, stories, short plays, fairy tales and other bits of whimsy and imagination. Ms Krauss uses her talented ear to capture the essence of a small child at play and you can almost hear that little voice talking and explaining his or her vision of life and the world, as you read (I went to you./I went to me./I went to/every where./And I went/THERE.). Mr Sendak complements each written idea with his expressive and wonderfully detailed pen and ink drawings. Together, this dynamic duo has authored a simple, gentle book full of childlike insight, wisdom and humor that will charm and delight both youngsters and adults. Perfect for preschoolers, I'll Be You And You Be Me is a masterpiece and a timeless treasure to read together and share and pass along to friends family and future generations.

The Finest Children's Book I Know
As a child in the 1950s, this was my very favorite book, much like a deeply treasured playmate. When I became a father, I looked for it to share with my daughter, but it was way, way out of print. Decades later, I became a father again and found a used paperback copy in Canada. My 2 1/2 year old daughter now loves this book as much as I did almost fifty years ago, and asks for it every night. It is timeless. One of the reasons I think it has lasted so well is that much of the ideas the great Ruth Krauss used for the book came from small children themselves. It also features the early work of Krauss'long-time collaborator who went on to write wonderful books himself, Maurice Sendak. I'm very happy that I'll Be You and You Be Me has now been reissued in hardback. If you are a parent of a child under five, do yourself a favor and buy this book--before it goes out of print again

excellent
While not the 1st artist to take on the conceptions of light and its practical uses in art, now Flagstff, AZ. artist James Turrell has brought the perception of light in art to creative and fantastic new levels through his conceptions such as his famous "skyspaces" to "darkspaces," "blue rooms," etc. Many of his pieces offer low light level environments, some almost no light at all, still others brilliant hues of red and blue.

Like most artists, Turrell shies away from giving detailed explinations of his works so that each individual can surmise the piece for themselves. This is not necessarly the case in this work. Turrell wanted, (and did) to build a specific "skyscape" in order to view an eclipse that occurred in England. Like his other "skyscapes," Turrell took the environment and all of its factors, as well as very specific geometry, into account, so that he could construct the perfect medium through which to not just observe the eclipse, but to better magnify the light, or lack thereof, of the eclipse.

The book is a wonderful look at this process, complete with analysis and pictures of the eclipse, the "skyscape," etc. An added bonus is the cd by German composer Paul Schulze, who's approach to his music (a minimalist ambient style, normally) is a perfect match to Turrell's art.

Fans of Turrell, or those who are interested in the interplay between light, our senses, and the reality they both help us create, will find this rather short treatsie to be of invaluable use to them. A wonderfully intriguing work.

Outstanding play with light
James Turrell has long been a major player in the field of light art, and visitors to the Matress Factory museum in Pittsburgh are well aware of his outstanding way of playing with art and images. This amusing meditation on an eclipse is an excellent addition to his body of work

The Jewish Way in Love and Marriage

Ignorance Is Not Bliss
The old adage, "Ignorance is bliss," could have been applied, a couple of generations back, to just about every human endeavor. But today, when it comes to making marriage a success this philosophy is deadly. And as post modern society continues to redefine what marriage is and what constitutes a successful one, the rate of divorce continues to skyrocket.
But this does not have to be so when resources like Maurice Lamm's book The Jewish Way in Love and Marriage are so easily accessible. Mr. Lamm wrote for the common person in 1980 with the hope of answering the question, "How do you make a marriage work in this modern world?" In its '90's reprint it still stands as a definitive work to help Jewish couples succeed in their marriages. Mr. Lamm, however, needs to be introduced to a much wider audience. Christian marriage mortality statistics have rapidly, in the last two decades, caught up with the numbers of the greater society. In some Christian circles the rate of dissolving marriages may in fact exceed the rest of society. Some Christian perspectives may be challenged to accept the teachings of Judaism on any subject. But the crisis of marriages in the Church could just possibly permit Christians to read Lamm's work with humility and an open mind. Once into his tremendous treatise, Christians will be exposed to a profoundly biblical approach to marriage. They will find ancient and timeless answers to the problems of making a man and a woman live together as one in harmony and bliss.
Most helpful to the Christian church, which remains a bastion of the Romantic Movement and of sexual confusion, is Lamm's exposé on the role of sexual desire and satisfaction in marriage. His presentation of the biblical view of romance clears away the shaky ground upon which most relationships are being founded in the Hollywood driven tradition. His revelation of the intricate ways the rabbi's have ruled to help people make "perfect" matches is thought provoking. Reflective people looking for their beloved ones are given tremendously helpful criteria based on generations of experience and application of the wise rabbis to assist in their modern day search. And finally, any serious Christian worker will want to read this book to have a broader and better educated view of biblical marriages with which to counsel broken relationships in the church.
Lamms style is straightforward and easy to understand. But don't let that fool you. His book is thoroughly researched and will give more than enough resources for the one who needs to know more. As an ordained, Evangelical minister of twenty-five years, I recommend this work without hesitation to all who desire to live distinctive biblical lives.

Highly recommended for Jewish men and women getting married
If you are Jewish and want to get married read this book first. It covers the wedding and related issues as well as the question of how to know whom to marry in a clear pleasant fashion. I read this after I met my wife, in preparation for the wedding so that I would fully understand the wedding day and all the other issues. Reading and understanding the material in this book really enhanced the very special day of our wedding and laid the foundations for our marriage together.

Rabbi Morris Lamm is a well-known and well-regarded author of books on Jewish practice. Regardless of the level of one's observance, this book is well worth reading and owning.

LA Loba De Francia/the Shewolf of France

Great fiction, meticulous historic research
I have read all six books of Maurice Druon's ACCURSED KINGS in Hungarian, since I am from Hungary. I literally could not put it down. Druon's writing style is superb, character development is exquisite, and the story is so engaging with its intrigue, plot-twists and passions that you would not know that you are reading real history. And you are: although the book is fiction, his research of history is extremely accurate and the book is richly annotated. Even supporting characters you think are invented are based on real historic figures. He not only conveys the story as an incredibly exciting adventure, but depicts the life of the era so effortlessly you don't even notice you learn about medieval life.

The books are about the events leading upto the hundred years war between France and England in the mid 14th century. The strong king Philip IV (Philip the Fair) leaves his strong country to his three sons, all of whom die without a male offspring, thus leaving the country in a turmoil for the succession. As the events unfold, you learn how a queen's adultery leads to the female line's exclusion of the succession and ultimately to the hundred years war. The story is complete with a Pope's forced election, a queen's murder, another queen's murdering her husband, a king being poisoned, an infant king being switched with another baby, and much, much more...

Its a shame its out of print. If you can get your hands on a full set of all books, not just this one, by all means, get it!
