Our first "favorite book"
A gift from my sister to my twins... from 9 months old they listened to every word - soon they knew it by heart! They learned how to "guess" and how to "tease" from this book. It's still a favorite, and they are almost 3.

A captivating and highly recommended picture book story
Gently written by Lillian hammer Ross, Buba Leah And Her Paper Children is a truly charming children's picture book story about a quiet Jewish family. Visiting her great aunt Buba Leah, little Chava hears Buba Leah speak fondly of her paper children, which prompts Chava to wonder: What are paper children?, And where could they be hidden? The gentle, countryside-manner of the full-color artwork by Mary Morgan beautifully enhance this captivating and highly recommended picture book story for young readers.

Curious Rosie
This is a delightful book for a young child. It celebrates curiosity by showing a lovable mouse named Rosie being curious about all sorts of things...what snowflakes taste like, who lives in the little hill (ants), and what's in that jar (cookies!). A loving book for a preschooler and parent to enjoy together.

A wonderful book for children with real answers.
I loved Hannah & Jack! I wish my sister would have written it while my two sons were small enough for me to read it to them. Oh well, my 23 year old and my 18 year old STILL read it anyway, and loved it. We think Mary is simply....The Best!!!

Simple, yet profound principles
The three rules should be followed by everyone in an organization that hopes to enlist others to achieve worthwhile purposes. Briefly, the three rules are: 1) Everyone contributes; 2) no put-downs; and 3) keep all agreements. Dr. Riley not only explains the value of these simple, yet profound rules, she also illustrates the impact they can have on any group trying to achieve harmony and alignment. Also included are tips and tools to implement the three rules. Dr. Riley's personal mission is to "meaningfully contribute to the financial health and emotional intelligence of today's work place", and I feel that anyone - in business, govenment, or family - who practices the three rules will help her realize the purpose of her book.

You will revisit this book many times!
Mommies is such a delightful book! My two year old daughter loves it. After asking me to read it time and again, my daughter can recite the book word for word. The delightful rhyming patterns and illustrations make you want to read it over and over. Any child that reads this book can relate to what the children and their Mommies are doing; singing songs in the car; playing in the tub; swinging high . . . You and your child, whether girl or boy, will enjoy this short and sweet book that captures many of the everyday things that a Mommy and her child does.

Pictures and thoughts of moms in a beautiful book
When you read this book, it's like you get to peek in through a keyhole and see real moms full of courage with real kids who depend on her in everyday events: secure ones, hard ones, messy ones, silly ones. You even get to hear what the mom is thinking.... and come away stronger, more full of courage yourself. The pictures are stunning, unposed, full of life.

As a mom-to-be, I got this book as a gift to my mom to say thanks for all she's done for me. I read through the book before giving it to her and found myself crying and laughing, but becoming stronger with each turned page.

One of my favorite pictures is a black and white one on page 22. It's one of a little boy, touching his mom's nose as they play in a sandbox. Above it is this thought from a mom in Philadelphia: "God miraculously sends the right child to the right mother. Nick and I like to count through all his cousins and friends and marvel that they all ended up with just the reight mothers..and how glad he is to have ended up with me!"

On a pincushion, and other fairy tales ; The necklace of Princess Fiorimonde, and other stories

Haunting
In a sense, I shouldn't review this book, because I am not sure which of Mary de Morgan's collections I read 25 years ago, from a library that no longer has the book. But her stories, including "The Heart of Princess Joan," "The Hair Tree," and other original fairy tales, left a deep impression on me. Like Oscar Wilde's "The Happy Prince," these often sorrowful stories felt a little dangerous to my 11-year-old emotions, but their evocative symbolism pulled at my imagination. Now that J.K. Rowling has re-popularized fantasy, I hope someone will reprint Mary de Morgan's stories for new generations to enjoy.

Absolutely essential for Forster scholars!
This two volume set is essential for the Forster scholar. Edited by Mary Lago, one of the foremost Forster scholars, it contains some of the highlights of his voluminous correspondence. Up until his death in 1970, Forster wrote up to twelve letters (!) a day, many of which are stored in the Forster archives at Kings College in Cambridge, England. Dr. Lago painstakingly sifted through those massive archival files and translated Forster's unique penmanship and wonderful letter writing style into a lovely, insightful, and entertaining two-volume set of correspondence.
