A Sequel That Is Better Than The Original!
I read (and loved)Too Young To Die right before starting Goodbye Doesn't Mean Forever. Both books are wonderful, and I felt as close to Melissa and Jory as if I knew them. While Too Young To Die did an excellent job of showing the reader what a cancer patient goes through, it is Goodbye... which makes us feel the emotions of those the disease affects, not only the patient, but the people who love them. While Melissa, the protagonist of Too Young To Die, is still very much at the center of this novel, it is really the story of her best friend, Jory, and Jory's pain as she watches the closest person in the world to her preparing to die. Jory's wide range of emotions are realistically portrayed as she as fluctuates between optimism and fear during the course of Melissa's illness. I felt her frustration at not being able to do anything to help her best friend, her grief and anger at the the thought of losing her, and finally her loneliness as Melissa accepts what is happening and moves on to face her death, leaving Jory behind. Reading this novel is an emotionally draining experience, but an absolutely wonderful read.

AWESOME
When I was reading the other One Last Wish books I found myselfwanting to know who JWC was. After reading this book I finallyunderstood.

Jenny's parents were killed when she was eight years old. Richard who is four years older than her befriends her but her grandmother (who she now lives with) does not aprove of their friendship. When Jenny becomes sick with leukemia she doesn't want Richard to see her. But during her sickness she finds out what true friendship is and what true love is. Before she dies she decides to leave a legacy behind her to help others going through the same thing she did. This is a heart touching story and I did not put it down till I was done. I recomend this to people of all ages not just young adults/teens. END

Extremely Emotional
This book is one of Lurlene McDaniel's best. It tells us that dreams really can come true and happiness can come from the bleakest of corners. You will get caught up in Meg and Donavan's growing love and cry with them. The story is a heart-wrencher and you will find yourself crying through most of it. You probably won't want to put it down though as there is never a dull moment.

One sad book !! Amanda Owens. Period.7
I have mixed emotions about this book becasue part of me liked it and part of me didn't like it. Part of me liked it becuase the author made Ian and Heather seem like real people. The author made them seem real because she made real things happen like in real life. For an example the way they hid their feelings about their love for each other.Another way they seemed like real people was becuase they went to Africa to heel the sick and this is a major problem around the world today that we need to fix. Although I thought it was a good book, but part of me didn't like it becasue it needed more suspense. If the book would have had more thrill to it I think I would have gotten more into the book and enjoyed reading it. Even thought it was not the best book I have ever read I still would recommened it to others to read. The reason I would recommened this to others is because it is a persons opion on the kind of books they like to read. People who like sad books this is the book to read !!

It was such a touching book~...
Heesun L. C/D Book Report on Angel of Mercy

I think that Angel of Mercy, is one if the best books Lurlene McDaniel has written. I have read many of her works and I loved most of them. This is a fiction book about a girl named Heather Barlow and how she goes to Africa to help the people there who are not as fortunate as she is. She just finished high school and now she wants to make herself useful and wants to make a difference in the world. While she is on her trip to Africa, she meets a guy named Ian McCollum who has already been on these types of trips. All her group members who are going to Africa with her have a different reason for going to aid those is need than she does. Heather is exposed to all the horrible things about sickness and poverty and she can¡¯t believe that while other lucky people live in happiness and in good health, others are dying and starving. During Heather¡¯s stay in Africa, Ian and Heather fall in love and plan to keep in touch when they have to part. Then, a terrible tragedy occurs and Heather finally realizes her purpose. She takes on a dangerous mission to go and save a young baby who is dying in Sudan. This book was written in 3rd person, which I think was a good idea so that the author could show the minds of more characters. There were two main conflicts in this book, which were person vs. herself and person vs. Fate (God). Heather struggles throughout the book about her reason for helping people and tries to relate to the others and why they came. Later on in the book, Heather is battling with an uncontrollable problem that concerns Ian. If I could rate this book from 1-10, 10 being the best, I would give this book a 9.5 because although I liked the topic and the story, I think that the author could¡¯ve written at a higher level and more descriptively. I thought that this was a very moving and touching book. It showed me how unfortunate some people are and how we take advantage of things that may seem to be nothing to us but to others can be called luxury. I now realize more how I am so fortunate not to be a person with no home or very little belongings. After reading this book, I want to help more and give when I get the chance to. I think that I could relate with the main character, Heather Barlow. When I was reading the book, there were many times where I thought in my own head, ¡°Oh, I think the same too.¡± I also thought that it was very sorrowful when Ian passed away trying to save another person. I never expected Ian to die either because there was not mention of a tragedy in the summary.

Woah
Woah is a very good word to discribe this book. I could hardly find myself able to put it down. This book touched me deeply. Most of Lurlene's books touch me, but none more then this one. The reality in this book is so awakening. This book has motivated me to try my best to help the world in some way, in anyway. It made me understand how fortunate I am to be born in a weathy country and made me grateful for what I have, and not worry about what I want. This book made me cry and left me wanting more. I love how much these people trust in the Lord and how they trust if they put their problems with him that they will be solved, therefore it also gave me more religious hope. I love this book and implore you to read it. I'm sure you will love it also.

Good!
this is the first Lurlene McDaniel book I have ever read and I have loved her books since. Somewhere Between Life and Death shows how I would act if my sister was in coma. I would NEVER beileve it! It is a wonderful book and I hope you enjoy it too!

Wonderful book
I've read many books of lurlene mcdaniel and they were all great. This was also a great book, they're all tear jekers though I cry reading almst all of them including this one it was very sad. It's about these sisters and when they have this party after there dance performance, and when they run out of sodas and amy goes to go get some she gets into an accident her older sister erin thinks nothing of it cause amys always late. But aftera few hours she begins to get worried and learns her sister was in an accident and after about a month they pronounce her brain dead but erin keeps hope and learns that amys boyfriend is totally forgetting abut her erin gets upset and confronts him. When finally they take amy into surgery to remove her organs. It tells about a story of how the family grieves over a person they greatly loved. A GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A great read
I'm not much into these sappy books. Ya know what I'm talking about, Agatha Christie and those other ones. You know, all the girls in school are reading books like that, yaa... I ended up reading this because a friend lent it to me. I was instantly hooked. This book has an excellent depiction of how people feel in situations like this. I think one of the major reasons I liked it so much was because something similar happened to my grandmother just last year.

I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Old or young, male or female. Its is a great book, ENJOY!

My thoughts on Angels
I read all three of the Angel books. I would give all of them 5 stars except the third. I hated the ending how Ethan and LEah slpit up. I think they should've found some way to be together. Also she said that Ethan walked out of her life... why can't she visit again in the summer, and still write letters. I liked Ethan alot, but I think he gave into his parents to easily. He did what all the AMish boys do. And also what ever happened to Johan (sorry for the spelling) and Charity? I do hope that the author will think it over and continue this book onto another.

Left Hanging
Okay, I read all of the Angels book Lurlene wrote. When the book ended I was surprised with the ending.I was left hanging, hoping that there was another book in that series, because the ending didn't seem fluint.I was upset when the main characters,Leah and Ethan just split up. I rate all of the other books in that series a 5 star.I only rated this book a 4 star because there wasn't another book to explain Leah's life without Ethan.I live close to Amish country in PA so I know a little about them, and I thought the author really did her research before writing this book. The facts seemed straight.I hope Lurlene McDaniel will look at all the request for a next book, and consider writing another one.

Not quite finished
I really liked the Angels Watching Over Me series. They got me hooked on Lurlene McDaniel! But I was very upset with the ending of this book. I know it would've been hard for them to find a way to live together, what with Leah being English and Ethan Amish and all, but their love was so strong! I want to know what happens with Leah and Ethan, if they ever get back together. It would be wonderful if Ms. McDaniel writes a sequel.

A very realistic book
This is one of my favourite Lurlene McDaniel books because it made you feel so close to the characters and what was happening to them. Jessica is one of my favourite characters and I liked Jeremy because often these books just focus on the person with the disease and their boyfriends and friends are just in the background. After Jeremy decided to donate his kidney to Jessica, he was a very big part of this book and a lot of parts were told from his point of view. I could guess most of the plot, but some parts were surprising and I really identified with the characters making Saving Jessica one of the most touching and sympathetic books I have read. I advise you to get it if you liked Somewhere Between Life and Death or other Lurlene McDaniel books.

Saving Readers
Lurlene McDaniel has gotten more and more children and teenagers interested in reading. She makes kids want to read. In Saving Jessica, Jeremy and Jessica make a perfect high-school couple. But soon Jessica receives news that she has kidney failure. She has to go to dailysis three days a week. Aside from Jeremy, she feels that she has no reason to live. She doesn't want to live on a machine she says. Jeremy had once been in a car accident with his older brother, his older brother had died but Jeremy had walked away without a scratch. Jeremy feels that there is a reason for everything and his reason for being spared is to save Jessica. He decideds to try and donate a kidney. Which means going against his parents wishes. And he's not eighteen yet, so his parents decide what is going to happen. How far will Jeremy go to save Jessica? Read and find out. I highly recommend this book to anyone who believes in true love, and doing whatever it takes to make them happy.

This is a caring book
In Saving Jessica by Lurlene McDaniel Jessica, a girl with a kidney problem, needs a kidney transplant or she will be on a machine for the rest of her life. Jessica decides that she wants a kidney transplant so she will not be on a machine. Jessica's boyfriend, Jeremy, is the only match for the transplant. Jeremy's parents don't want him t do the transplant because they think that they will lose their only living child. So Jeremy takes them to court because he wants to go through with the transplant. This book is for young adults. I like this book because it shows how much the characters care for each other in order to save one person.
