an excellent, readable, oncology textbook
This textbook while being comprehensive enough,is enjoyable to read. As opposed to other major oncology textbooks, it provides definitive conclusions regarding treatment and is not overly burdening to the reader. Because Oncology changes so quickly, one could likely get by with this textbook and following the published literature.

It's an excellent consultation book.
The book is about the latest treatment in oncology. It's easy to obtain information out of this book. It has everything breast, lung, colorectal cancer, etc.

The Einstein Gold (or God) Age
All the Einstein life is very intersting! For the 20st centuryworld life the 1900-1909 Einstein period is the apex of his scientificcontributions, specially for three papers: those about the Brownian Movement, the Photoelectric Effects and Eletromagnetic Effects when there is a referencial change. All three papers brought to ous news interpretations of those phenomena and revealed the Einstein interpretation capacity of visible and not-visible world. The paper about Photoelectric Effects presented a new quantum views of ligh and material interaction while the Eletromagnetic Effects showed the principles of Special Relativity, a theme that transverse the 20st century and arrive at 21st century without popular technology applications. This book brings a opened, stimulant, and helpful explanations - great lectures - about the principals Einstein ideas. Maybe this book is the first to point closely the life and thinking of a science men.

An extraordinary collection
Readers-

One might question why you might purchase a book such as this. Well the answer is quite simple. Logic. Now when I say logic I don't mean the logic of the words themselves rather the logic that you might read such an impressive work.

Einstien was a genius in his time, a genius yet to be surpassed (in the authority of Science that is). His works are timeless, classic examples of the scientific process and this particular is a well-balanced example.

Written during the years of the 1910s this volume's works depict a dedication to science even through the war in Europe.

A Must Read!

A comprehensive update of a neuroscience classic
This highly readable textbook is probably the only one that has successfully dealt with the explosive growth of research and discovery in the exciting field of neuroscience. The 4th edition of the classic by Kuffler and Nicholls maintains the clear, logical and coherent presentation of its predecessors while keeping up with the latest work involving a range of techniques, from molecular genetics to functional MRI. The book's emphasis on the experimental and intellectual basis of knowledge in the field makes it ideal for graduate and advanced graduate students, even those with limited scientific background. It is doubtless no accident that the relatively compact new edition has kept the breadth and depth of earlier editions without becoming unwieldy. Its only real shortcoming is its hefty price, although it is still below most of the competition. It would be nice to see a paperback edition.

What a book!!!!!!!!
I can't imagine to find a book like this... It's excellent. It has many things that anybody can need in order to know more about this system and this kind of cells.

Heidegger and Christianity: The Hensley Henson Lectures 1993-94
Published in Hardcover by Continuum (1994)
Author: John MacQuarrie
Amazon base price: $19.95
Used price: $18.91
Average review score:

Being I AM ?
The book starts by noting some of the twists and turns in Heidegger's life and thought; and by showing the importance of Being in the beginnings of western philosophy (but only in the beginning and then quickly forgotten -- according to Heidegger).

The main question in the book (as you probably already know from the title) is whether Heidegger's thought is compatible with Christianity. Of course to answer this question we first needed to know what Heidegger's thought consisted of, which takes up most of the book and makes it worth while even if you don't care if Heidegger can be 'Christianized'.

Although the book is brief (only 121 pages) it covers everything from Being and Time to Time and Being and beyond (which is a long and mystifying way -- or at lest it is without this book). Heidegger's Nazism is also dealt with very briefly, but the main concern in the book, after giving a tour of the philosophy, is the relationship to Christianity. Others before Macquarrie have seen this relationship Etienne Gilson, for example, clamed that Heidegger ' is taking us to the only real metaphysical problem. I believe he could... help us not only to deeper insights into his own thought, but even into that of... Thomas Aquinas'.

It is difficult (at lest for me and I suppose others with similar obsessions) to read Heidegger's attempted retrievals of Being -- that light by which all existing entities are viewed. And not think of biblical passages like Exodus 3:14. I supposes in the end some of Heidegger's thoughts are good for Christianity while some are not (or less obviously so). The ontological difference for the most part probably is; while all the twisting and turning of Being would probably be the end of anything like an orthodox Christianity.

This book doesn't say that Heidegger's philosophy was Christian -- in fact Heidegger said a Christian philosophy was nonsense 'a round square and a misunderstanding' -- but if you want an intro. to his thought or see some potential parallels between his thought and Christianity this is a good book.

I know of no better introduction to Heidegger's thought
MacQuarrie's little monograph should be called "Heidegger Demystified". It is perhaps the best thorough and concise study of the main features and the significance of Heidegger's thought by one of the translators of Being and Time into English. Considering what an industry Heidegger studies have become in American and European universities, this little volume is a wonder how it cuts to the essential features of his thought. I know of no better introduction to the significance of Heidegger. Even George Steiner's little study, a fine fluff piece for the non-philosopher, will have to take a back seat to this treasure

Not just a cook book
This is a cookbook alright but it is also a history of lowcountry food, agriculture, and recipes. Plus, Hoppin' John has an attitude and man is he strict: You'd better boil your shrimp with the heads on and you'd better make iced tea the right way.

An Excellent Regional Cook Book
John Martin Taylor does an outstanding job of sharing the history, culture, the exact how and why of South Carolina Low Country (Costal Carolina)Cooking. This book is enjoyable, reads like a good novel and will be appreciated by both novice or experinced cooks. If you enjoy good regional cook books, this one is a gem and is well worth owning!

I finally stopped Crying
I found this book when my lifepartner died two years ago. THis book helped me so much then and now, when certian days come along and I start feeling sad and don't understand. I am in a new relationship and still sometimes find myself missing my former life-partner and I realize through this book that it is entirely normal and to some degree expected.

I recommend this book to anyone who has lost someone they love. It will help you get a handle on your emotions and is very easy to read.

A Real Page Turner! I Couldn't Put It Down!
Kudos to Martin, he does it again! Like his aptly titled masterpiece "Motorcycles", Martin adroitly examines the sport thoroughly and breaks it down into easy to understand laymen's terms. Although void of such memorable characters like his infamous Juan Martinez, the book is a must read.

Excellent Starter book for kids of all ages!
Martin takes us on a mystical journey of the unique world of in - line skating. A journey that is not just informative, but enjoyable. It is an excellent tutorial for kids of all ages who are willing to explore the fun and exciting world of in-line skating. I applaud Martin, Bravo!!

My five year old and I love this book!
This was one of the first Martin Waddell books that we got and we still read it over and over. It shows true to life family dynamics--and beleive me it happens that you think one or the other is watching the little one in a big family!

Rated about 3-7 year olds. Brilliantly illustrated
It was Sammy's day for minding John Joe but he got bored so he ran of down Cow Lane to his friend Willie Brennan he was meant to take John Joe but he took Splinter the dog instead.Mary was very mad as it was not her day for minding John Joe.she went down to brennan's house to find Sammy but he was down at the river.Mary couldn't go because John Joe was too small so then John Joe offered to mind himself while Mary looked for Sammy. After Mary left the brennans big hen came up to John Joe and John Joe was very frightened. He called for help but no one could hear him so he ran away from the hen. he jumped up on the wall and the hen followed etc. When Mary and Sammy returned they couldn't find John Joe so Sammy sent Splinter to look for John Joe.They eventually found him asleep in the corn. All ended well and mammy said there was no way she was ever going to loose her John Joe. The story is excellently illustrated every child I have read it to enjoyed it thoroughly

The Literary Reference Guide
I'm going back into a Masters Program and plan to teach English for a living. Already this book has proved to be a valuable resource when surveying various schools of criticism. The cross-referenced index is a bit confusing, but this is a nice book that you may want to sit down with and read for awhile anyway. I've found some wonderful items in here, and it's fun to flip through, looking for previously unknown literary schools that may catch my interest. It's a great reference book, but also a compelling source of information and direction. I laid out the bucks for this book because I know it will be a handy reference for the next thirty years. Already it's directed me to some outside reading that has proved quite profitable. I'll keep this guide close by as long as I am a student of Literature.

Highly recommended to get your theoretical bearings
Provides a consise, and yet sufficiently nuanced and complex, summary of theoretical schools, practitioners, terms, and trends. Hefty and yet readable reference material -- cross-indexed with more thorough bibliographies for each entry.

Fundamentals of making a successful business presentation
Knock Em Dead Business Presentations tackles the fundamentals of making a successful business presentation; from researching a presentation and capturing audience attention to using visual aids to make a point, and involving an audience in a presentation. Everything is found within the pages of Knock Em Dead Business Presentations necessary to creating an effective, nuts and bolts presention of a fine business program from scratch.

Highly Recommended!
Career management expert Martin Yate and finance whiz Peter Sander have assembled a dandy handbook on making effective presentations. After pointing out the value of developing this key career skill, they focus on how to prepare a good speech. They go from identifying your audience, to determining how best to deliver information, to being ready to be hot stuff at the podium. Similar books have explained these steps before, but the authors couldn't offer their meatier advice without beginning with the basics. Familiar instructions include researching your audience and topic, being yourself and using effective communications techniques. The more distinctive information covers turning your talk into a kind of conversation with the audience, employing audio visual aids effectively and adopting proper stage dress and manners. Though the material is familiar, we from getAbstract appreciate this well-organized, clear presentation and suggests that beginning speakers might want to walk this way before stepping up to the microphone.
