A Soldier's Life
These letters are a rare glimpse into a soldier's thoughts during WWII. Pieces of history, many forgotten are brought to light. Experience a pass to Paris, how wonderful after months living in the field in the cold and mud. A simple watch was one of the few items this man requested from home. That his letters, often written from the battle field were delivered home and responses returned is a wonder of army mail service. The photos of home and family and notes from the author, the letter writer's brother enrich the book and add perspective. Highly valuable as a teaching tool for students. The book is short and hard to put down until you've gone cover to cover.

The Mysteries of Zigomar
I've enjoyed reading Allan Ahlberg books to my kids for several years. I was thrilled when I saw this one at the Library. My kids and I enjoy it so much, I'm going to buy my own copy. The stories and poems are good for all ages and perfect for short reading times like when your kids are so tired they fall asleep after the first couple pages. The Paper Boy and the Vampire and the Hound are our favorite selections. They are both creative and fun!

The best introduction to Neoplatonic philosophy.
John Deck's book--originally his dissertation--is the single best introduction to Neoplatonic philosophy and the theology of Plotinus. Neoplatonic thought is notoriously difficult because no one part of it offers an easy way to understand it. There are many advanced books, such as those by A.H. Armstrong, which offer treatments of difficult themes in Plotinus. Deck's book is an essential stepping stone for anyone who wishes to understand Plotinus or to read other advanced books about Plotinus.

ANew Treasury of Poetry
Good evening, my book of poetry arrived yesterday. What book to read, I could hardly put it down. The way Neil Philip, has broken the book up into eight chapters is great. The drawings by John Lawrence, to me are just what a book of poetry should have. Many of the poems brought back memoris of the simple life, others brought joy to my heart; while others tears were shed. The red explaning of some words, is great and meaningful. This book should be part of every high school English class. If you are homeschooling your children, besure to include this book. Come read Lavender's Blue with me; and Poor old Horse by Tradtional or Windy Nights by R. L. Stevenson. Just to mention a few. Thank you for allowing me this pleasure. I am a published poetry and prayer author and a homeschool teacher.

PHESANT HUNTERS THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!!!
Please excuse my spelling, it's terrible This book is terrific. I started reading this book and couldn't put it down. It is a fine collection of stories ranging from the great soilbank days when Kansas alone had 4 million birds to the Royal hunts in Europe where an average daily bag mesaures in the thousands, It has stories more like mine where the average hunt ends with tired dogs and few birds. The book through it's many differant authors also explores the ethics associated with hunting. This book is for the bird hunter who's cleaning his gun for the third time this week when hunting season isn;t for 6 months. It's for the guy who can't stop dreaming of how his new pup will do his first time out. It's for the guy who spends more time with his dogs than with his wife. All hunters will enjoy this book, but the true bird hunter won;t be able to put it down.

Preventing Crime: What Works, What Doesn'T, What's Promising

Amazon base price: $60.00

Thorough Review of the Effectiveness of Crime Policies
This is one of the most comprehensive reviews of evaluations of policies designed to prevent crime available. Though now somewhat dated, each author in the book takes an area of criminal justice, reviews the evaluations available at that time, and reports those findings. If you want to know which programs work to prevent crime, as well as which programs do not, this is a handy reference to have. All criminal justice practitioners and policy makers should be required to read this work before implementing any new policies or programs designed to prevent crime.

Bone Biology
This book is an encyclopedic and thorough survery of normal bone, bone biology, formation, and remodeling. Clincial aspects of bone are also covered in great detail. For a volume this size with multiple authors, the book maintains a uniformly high standard. The illustrations are excellent and color plates are used where necessary. While one plate in Chapter 17 was to go in Chapter 18, it is a minor point. The chapters on the hormonal control of bone remodelling and the discussion of the process of remodelling were particularly interesting and well done. For graduate students or physicians interested in bone biology, the volume is a must!

The Six Trials of Jesus
This book is an eye opener!! I cannot believe the order of the last few days of Jesus were so neatly written in this book using the four gospels. I ordered 7 books and have given away six. The reciepeints of this book have been left amazed....astonished....surprised...and have made commitment to serve the Lord. I just can't describe the impact this book has had on many. The writer takes time to intermingle the gospel together which brings a brighter & bigger picture to the mind.
