You shouldn't miss it! ¡¥The Littles Go Exploring¡¦
Once I saw this book ¡¥The Littles Go Exploring¡¦,
written by John Peterson, the natural colour and the beautiful picture of the cover attract me to choose this book.
The story was said about some tiny people who went exploring to find an old man called Grandpa Little. He was a smart man who was the first little to understand electricity and had made the trip to explore the place, but unfortunately he is unsuccessful and lost his way.
After I read it,I think the most interesting part was the part about the Littles family found Grandpa Little.they tries to solve all theproblems when they went exploring.
I think the main character Tom and Lucy were the cleverest and bravest children in the family. They told their parents immediately when they discovered the secret room and they discuss with them.It shows that they were cooperative with the family members. Also, when UncleNick said that he needed two volunteers to go along,Tom answered that he could go very quickly.he didn¡¦t mind to lose his life tio find Grandpa Little. And Lucy, she was curious about everything and had her own decisions.Although she was very little, she provided a lot of opinions about the plan to find Grandpa Little. It shows that she was a wise girl and did all the things sensibly.
I really enjoy this book because of two reasons.First of all,I think the story is very interesting,it made me easily to put in it.Also,it is very meaningful, because it can tell us a lot of things about our life.I hope I can make myself clever, brave, confidentand mature like Tom and Lucy.I think this book is suitable for everyone,so I think you shouldn¡¦t miss it!

It is a book about little people.
I think this is a good book because it keeps you interested. This is probably the best book I ever read. Let me tell you what the book is about. The story is about old Grandpa Little who everyone thinks is dead except Granny Little until Tom and Lucy find a secret room with Grandpa Little's journal. And then the Littles go exploing to find out that Grandpa Little is not dead. This is a good book for any age and so are all The Littles books. If I could give this book more than 5 stars I would.

Third Book in The Littles Series
In "The Littles to the Rescue", Mrs. Little is expecting her third child, and, by tradition, she wants Aunt Lily to deliver it. However, Aunt Lily and her son, Cousin Dinky, live four houses away, which is quite a distance for Tinies (little creatures--approximately 4 - 6 inches tall--that vaguely resemble elves with tails). Nevertheless, Cousin Dinky pilots his mother in his glider plane to the Littles' residence, even though it's in the middle of the night and snowing. However, during the trip, Aunt Lily falls out of the plane and is captured by the reclusive Ground Tinies. A search party is formed to locate Aunt Lily, with the added help of a cat and skunk, who remarkably don't make a meal out of the Littles. But will they find her in time?

This was one of my favorite books (and cartoon series) when I was a kid. It was given to me by my grandmother when I was about eight-years-old. Not only are the black-and-white illustrations terrific, but the Littles are extremely resourceful and imaginative in this story, using most things people throw away as tools, decorations, etc. My only two complaints are that the book has a rather abrupt ending (or perhaps there's a page missing from my book; I have had it for about 15 years), and that it's a bit ...., though younger readers may not pick up on this. Still, "The Littles to the Rescue" is a fun adventure story for children age 7 - 10. Highly recommended.

The Littles to the Rescue
I am 7 years old and in 2nd grade.I like to read about the Littles because they are always having fun adventures. This story was interesting when the Littles traveled by rabbits, a cat, and a skunk.I try to think how much fun and how fast I could go on these animals. I like how the Littles get help from animals. I thought Aunt Lily was not going to make it in time for the baby.
But with the help of everybody she was found.

Outstanding and captivating novel
Memory's Tailor is one of the finest and most touching novels that I read this year. Rudner's narrative is captivating in its detail and emotional quality. I highly recomend this book.

The story of two men who bear witness to human events.
Berman, the hero of the novel and I believe to be Rudner's alter-ego in the beginning of the story is a reclusive non-person- a persona he has had to affect in order to survive in the anti-semetic climate of the Soviet Union prior to perestroika. Berman's character develops as he realizes that those who witness the inhumanitites exacted upon individuals by the state must record and preserve the memory of these events. He learns that these tragedies are compounded when the victims and their stories are forgotten. In developing the characters,Berman and Zorin, the author tells us, often with great humor, of their most unusual Odyssey, and their enounters with many memorable characters whose stories cried out to be chronicled and remembered. Berman, a tailor, formerly worked for the Kirov ballet repairing costumes. He is called upon to help repair costumes from the period of Catherine the Great,by the museum curator. He goes back to work reluctanly. While sewing the costumes Berman meets and develops a wonderful relationship with a char woman. Her death than causes Berman to reach back, upon his long forgotten faith, and eventually become a witness to all that he hears. Many unusual event are experienced by Zorin, a retired glassblower, recruited by Berman to aid him in his plan and as they cross the Urkraine and Russian countryside together. The characters they encounter are so wonderful and so alive, and their stories so interesting, that I as a reader also became part of their journey. This novel, completed before the death of Lawrence Rudner in 1995, is his second novel was beautifully edited by John Kessel and Susan Ketchin. The message that Rudner so forcefully relates in this very human story is one that is so important; to listen, to record, and to witness.

Non-Functional Requirements in Software Engineering (THE KLUWER INTERNATIONAL SERIES IN SOFTWARE ENGINEERING Volume 5)

Nice piece of work
This book provides an excellent framework, set of tools, and methodology to make system design decisions based on analysis non-functional requirements and "softgoals," often lacking in other software engineering methodologies and tools. In chapter 14 of the book, the authors provide extensions to the tools to model to analyze strategic rationale and business goals of a system, and apply them to a hypothetical business process re-engineering example. I believe that the authors here have presented a base set of tools and methodologies that have applications far beyond the field of software engineering as demonstrated in this chapter, and I look forward very much to see where this work will lead.

All you need to know about non-functional requirements.
From qualitative analysis to quantitative anlysis it is all there. Non-functional requirements (NFRs) are like the step-child to functional requirmeents but this book finally gives NFRs their due. It is a must read for any person in the software/systems engineering community. Especially impressive is the graphic representations which compliment the text.

An excellent and enthralling economic insight! A must have.
The movement of the text through the reasoning of why teams relocate and the economic impact they inflict on their stomping grounds is an enjoyable and wonderful read for armchair economists and sports enthusiasts.

What a book!!
The section describing the econometric model which can be used to determine the next baseball expansion team was fascinating. I can't believe that Akron, Ohio will be a major league city soon!

This represents a substantial improvement from the first edition, which was a good text in it's own right. The subject matter is more complete, and virtually every topic has been updated. I recommend it highly.

Dark Art
CHARLES E. BURCHFIELD AT KENNEDY GALLERIES brings together early drawings and watercolors, along with the later "House and Trees in the Snow." The artist liked to paint nature, particularly as a reflection of his own moods: the expressionist "Battleships," the dramatic "Landscape with Sunflowers," the Oriental "Snow Flakes" and the boisterous "Storm in Sunlight." But straight steel bands took over romantic landscapes in "Moonset over the Railroad" and "Railroad Track in Spring." He made one gloomy self-portrait, unusual because he silhouetted his anonymous, rare figures in landscapes of misery and toil: "Corner House," "Factory and Houses," and "Gray House" painted human lives at grim subsistence levels. He distorted the expressionist landscape further in "Coke Ovens at Twilight," "Stars and Fires," and "View near Salem, Ohio." He always mistrusted his creative ability in posters and wallpaper design: yet my favorites from his art include his B&W-inked Wallpaper Study and Wallpaper Designs 1-4, all working earlier poetically natural watercolors into decorative patterns, along with his "Forest of Wild Thyme" poster. I also like his less pessimistically penciled "House and Tree" and "Study of Three Trees" and his charcoaled "Tree Study." John IH Baur and Lawrence A Fleischman give such a clear idea of Burchfield's art that readers can find where the artist fit in with James E.B. Breslin's MARK ROTHKO, Hugh Davies and Sally Yard's FRANCIS BACON, Lawrence Gowing's MATISSE, Sarah Whitfield's FAUVISM, and Sylvia Yount's MAXFIELD PARRISH.

VALUE THE GIFT
A few days before Christmas nine-year-old Marcel and his family are driving to their new house--an old farm deep in the snowy woods, then get lost. Luckily they find an old hotel which at first seemed to be closed. Marcel is fascinated by their quaint but kindly host, Pappy, who promises to provide them with directions to their destination the next day.

But the man mysteriously disappears, leaving them only an unsigned, unaddressed Christmas card, which has no words--just a curious sketch of the woods. Marcel gradually realizes that this card is a kind of map to their new home, yet it is much more than that. It is a Magic card, which changes to reflect conditions of the real world outside--of time, light and location.

Still Marcel experiences alternating fear and peace in the days preceding the Christian holiday, as a result of the card's shifting hints. The family of four is confused by the mysterious fire glowing in the old cabin; did they just stumble upon a meeting and inadvertantly drive the people away? Secular and sacred connotations combine to make a fascinating, enjoy-in-one-sitting read. Will Marcel ever see his beloved Pappy again--just who and what is he anyway? A literary chiaroscuro where the Light combats the Darkness and a young boy tries to choose the right path and make the best "trade."

Christmas on Exeter Street
In this wonderful children's book, the house on Exeter Street goes from crowded to overflowing as more guests, both expected and unexpected, arrive on Christmas Eve. Grandparents, uncles from South Africa, stranded travelers and the children from next door keep showing up until people, dogs and cats are sleeping in the attic, in the basement, in the cupboards, on window sills and even in the bathtub! Santa, when he arrives, has to take off his socks and count on his toes to be sure he's remembered everyone. The illustrations are detailed and charming, and the story telling is simple but moving. In my family, this book is a favorite and gets read daily during the Christmas season. The whimsy and warmth appeal to children and grown-ups alike. Unfortunately, this book is out of print, so if you find it, grab it!
