These books are exceptional, a must read.
Words fail me in description, the best I can do is wow. The story is enthralling, the art beautiful, and the story as original as can be. I loved them.
Passing it on,...
After being introduced to these books in college, I also had to have them. Now that I'm teaching high school English, with a little censoring of language, my enthusiasm shows as they hear the story (and mystery) unfold. It makes them think, guess, hypothesize, get involved, even get angry! I left 35 ninth-graders speechless and hanging on every word!! Imagine that!!
A True Romantic's Love Story
I received the trilogypak for my birthday... I have previously read the books before, and I had to have them for myself. These books explore the dark and myterious world of 'what if' when it comes to romantic love. If you have ever felt that you have a soul mate somewhere in the world, and you felt that somehow, someway, they were with you, watching you, then these stories will enrapture and captivate your mind. This is a must read selection!

great set of books, some of the best i've read.
i found these books to be great. very descriptive and worth reading agin. anne mccaffery is wonderful writer that deserves praise. works of art.
Marina Sirtis is an excellent choice to read this trilogy.
I'm a great fan of McCaffery, and I like this series second behind the Dragonriders. Marina Sirtis reads it well, a bit hypnotically in spots. I can't tell if its abridged or not. These tapes are great in the car. They keep the kids quiet even on short runs.
These books are a great read!
I have all three of these books and can only hope that there will be more. Once again we are taken into yet another realm of fantasy by one of the genre's most skilled & talented authors.
Cooking in San German, Puerto Rico: Puerto Rican Regional Cuisine
Published in Paperback by Vantage Press (November, 1991)
Amazon base price: $9.95
Average review score:
Great Puerto Rican cooking
If you want great puertorican recipes, this is the book to buy. Great recipes, it reminds you of grandma's cooking.
Cocinando en San Germán
This little cookbook is a work of art. As you read the recipes, all taken from San Germán local residents, you begin to get the varied flavors and influences of Puerto Rican foods in general, and local foods western part of the Island in detail. The illustrations are beautifully done, and Mrs. Vivoni's verses are the perfect accompaniment for this work of love. The recipes work, too! They were all tested and quantified. If you don't read Spanish, buy the English version. It's just as good.

the gardens of russell page
No words to describe this genius!.How as a landscape gardener, could I have taken ten years to discover his works!!.He is obviously and sadly unknown for his contribution to timeless gardening. This is the "Bible" of landscape gardening, and he is the Van Gogh of gardeners. How can such a valuble and essential book be unavailable!?
Russell Page - An unsung hero
I hadn't even heard of Russell page until I perchanced upon this book in my local bookstore some 5 years ago. I was moved to tears by some of the photographs, and that doesn't happen easily to me. The man was a genius, clear and simple, and his designs reached out and spoke to me in a way very few designers ever have. In my own landscapes, I have been immensely influenced by Russell Page, both through this wonderful book, and his own 'Education of a gardener'. This book is superbly illustrated with colour photographs throughout. The photography is excellent, and the written descriptions are well penned, informative, decriptive but not too long-winded. My copy of this book would be on my list of my top ten material possessions.
The Legend of LA Llorona

A New and Different Version of An Old Mexican Legend
This book offers a wonderfuly different and fascinating version of the legend of La Llorona, as well as another view of the very interesting and controversial historical figure La Malinche. The reader sees a fictionalized but possible glimpse into the heart of a woman who helped Cortes bring down the Aztec empire, who bore the first mestizo children, who was considered a traitor to her people. This is definitely a book people should read, especially those who are interested in Mexican culture, history, and legend.

Vanished World
I rate this book so highly because of its unique standing as both skillful work and historic artifact. Given the fact that even King Babar is forbidden in some circles, people who look on literature as political porridge for babes might pass this one up. Its propaganda is out of date, and for a small elite: many of the tales were smuggled into the captive children of the Tsar in Siberia. If we allow ourselves to be transported to another world, where the monarchy is as benign as that seen through the eyes of the children of the Tsar and Tsarina, and through the eyes of the young son of their heroic Dr. Botkin, then we can enjoy these amusing tales. As in sets of colorful toy soldiers, the characters are male. Whimsy animates these teddy bears, monkeys and rabbits in military dress. The teenaged Botkin, full of Russian artistic soul, drew his clever animals, created their uniforms, and put them in the sort of jeopardy in which their young readers lived. The children were a captive audience, literally, to whom he tried to give hope. His father, Eygeny Botkin, like the gentlemen who stayed behind on the Titanic out of a sense of duty, was shot with the Tsar's family. Unfortunately, the tragedy does not end there, because some die-hard monarchists (not the same thing as monarchs) would separate his bones, if they could, from the royal ones they wish to venerate. Gleb escaped the Reds, and went on to raise a family in New York. When various claimants to Anastasia's identity came on the scene, he was asked to give an opinion, informed as he was by real intimacy with the family circle. Earlier Botkin's had been court physicians; now they had to make it as immigrants. That in itself is another tale. We must be content with this one for now. It is an engaging hint at the profound effect of history on individual lives, not least those of cultivated people in the Tsar's court. Thoughtful children might enjoy this book. There are now many Russian immigrants in our society once again. I wonder how this book would be viewed by them. It is indeed a piece of the puzzle of what was the Soviet Union, and now has become Russia again.
Wonderful!
A beautiful book that stirs back a lost time and the tragedies of the last Tzar, Nikolai Alexsandrovitch Romanov II.
Marinas and Small Craft Harbors
Published in Hardcover by Kluwer Academic Publishing (August, 1991)

Marina and Small Craft Harbours
This is an excellent global overview of everything concerned with modern marina development. It covers subjects from a socio-economics of marina users, historical development of recreational boats and harbours to financial data on building and running a modern marina. Attention is paid to regulatory requirement and environmental considerations including mitigation of wave impact, fuel and sewage facilities to the merits of different break-wave and mooring structures. Modern trends such as the increasing length of boats to dry storage facilities are covered to allow planning for the lifetime of marinas built today. The manual is written for marine designers and operators but is so well illustrated that even technical data can be clearly understood by a lay person. The authors' 30+ years' experience in engineering design and teaching is put to excellent use in this quite comprehensive book. Well worth the money!

A MUST HAVE...and A MUST SHARE
never before have I read an entire book devoted to celebrating black men. this is an important book to have because it touches a subject and creates a positive atmosphere for an issue that is often unaddressed, unappreciated, and in some respects, unnoticed. if you have a black man in your world, or if you would like to introduce your world to a side of black men that is often unrealized, you MUST purchase 'n celebration of u black man'; and you must share it with others.
N celebration of u black men
I've had the distinct pleasure of not only reading this literary work, but also seeing the words come alive during one of the author's performances. This is a book of poetry that highlights the strengths of the African-American Man. It is rare that love, dedication, committment and respect are words that reflect today's Black Man, but Marina has eloquently set the record straight. It is a message that's spoken from the heart. I loved it!

Terrific combination of visual history and nostalgia
It's always a bit startling to revisit someplace you haven't seen in a few decades, especially if it was a neighborhood you remember from your childhood. Nothing stands still, but some alterations can be especially dramatic. Many parts of downtown New Orleans in the 1920s and '30s hadn?t changed significantly in several generations, except for the addition of overhead wires. This lavish volume will bring you up to date, displaying before-and-after shots of many fondly remembered locations -- such as the intersection of Madison Street and Decatur in what used to be "Little Italy." A 1906 photo shows a decaying Creole townhouse which then housed a clothing store, and Madame Begue's famous restaurant across the narrow street. On the facing page, the 1996 view from exactly the same perspective shows the townhouse changed almost beyond recognition, but the 1830 building across the street, now the home of Tujague's Restaurant, which has been cleaned up and renovated (and is one of my favorites!), retains nearly all of its original design features. Other sites remind us of the days of parking your car on Canal Street's neutral ground, of the 1840s Greek Revival hidden behind the Sanlin Building's aluminum facade, of the gradual but continual decay of the De La Ronde plantation house in Chalmette. Other structures have disappeared entirely: The Poydras Market, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, and the entire 300 block of South Rampart Street, among many others, most of them replaced by freeways and modern motels. This would be a terrific book to send to that New Orleans-born relative who moved to California years ago.
For the those who love the Big Easy, this one is a must.
The Campanella's did an incredible job of tracing the past of some of New Orlean's most well known, and sometimes notorious, landmarks. The way in which they try to exactly match the perspective of the new photography with that of the historic photo allows the reader to better visualize the changes. In some scenes, so much has changed it is like a game of Where's Waldo just find something that is recognizable from one era to the next. Great book!
