Elements of materials science and engineering
Avoid this book at all costs. I have reviewed/studied over 2,000 engineering/technical manuals/coursebooks/references and this one is one of the absolutely most confusing piecemeal pieces of garbage I have ever seen. At the time of my first acquaintance with this textbook, 1976, as a first year engineering college student I quickly realized that over 50% of my classmates were either hopelessly confused by the mumbo-jumbo presentation of material or were borrowing their frat brothers/ sorority sisters notes/tests to pass the course. Couple this with the instructor's strict adherence to the text and it resulted in the highest failure rate/largest drop-out yield in the history of my school. I have recently reviewed the text once again and as a seasoned engineer may only offer the same advice.

Okay sort of book
This author uses an entirely different approach to the teaching of materials science. This book was well-written and accessible. A good text on a rather drab subject.

The End Times: Prophecies of Coming Changes

tragic
This book is nothing bu BS psuedo-science. Please don't touch it with a ten foot pole.

Contains some interesting things, but....
In reading such books we should keep in mind that such prophecies of future catastrophic events are not written in stone. A good book that explains that is The Isaiah Effect, by Gregg Braden. It demonstrates how prophecies of global catastrophe and suffering are either symbolic or may only represent future possibilities, rather than forecast impending doom. Moreover, Braden's book establishes that we have the power to determine our future, and avoid catastrophe.

That fact is also established in other books that provide a very realistic and credible view of prophecy that we can celebrate. One explains how and why the myths of an "end of the world" and a "second coming" were created and perpetuated. It explains the fulfillment of real prophecy and delivers a message designed to liberate and empower the people in a way we have only dreamed of.

Granted, books on Nostradamus, Cayce, etc. are interesting, but we must recognize that their work is open to interpretation. Also, we must recognize when such books (perhaps unwittingly) help perpetuate false religious doctrine and dogma and false prophecy. That is important because prophecy actually foretells that God's "new kingdom" will be established on the earth and "last forever, never to be destroyed."(Daniel 2:44, Revelation 11:15, Psalm 104:5, etc.) And best of all, we shall all share the throne as equal joint heirs, and no more be divided and ruled by a pretender to the throne as we are now. That's what the fulfillment of prophecy is all about.

Great Book!!!
This was a great book, it kept me glued to it and after each section it kept me reading to find out what was next. As it says in the book, it is not about scaring people into terror, it is a book about hope, once you read it you will understand, and have a whole new out look on things.

bad author
I love the clan books. But they made a mistake letting this author do any of the books. Tremere book was the worst of the Clan books, and now they're letting him write this trilogy? I admit I didn't finish the book, but that's because I just couldn't make it. I moved on to Lasombra, and enjoying it much, much more.

This book has plenty of words, but none about the clan Tremere. Which is sad, considering it's such an interesting clan. This book read more like a 3rd rate detective book. Snore.

Three Stars Is Generous For This Book
The book moves on from where the Clan Novel: Tremere left. I do agree with many of the other reviewers, Eric Griffin has a hot topic but lacks a decent story. I have to admit it is slightly better than the Clan Novel: Tremere mainly because you actually see some Tremere magic this time, very little of it. The author keeps describing the areas, emotions and objects but leaves the reader lost because of the lack of a plot. Personally, I must admit I also hate the style the book was written in which a chapter focuses on one scene and then the next on another and the one after returns to the previous scene. That style added irritation more than mystry to the already plot lacking book.

right......
*rolls eyes in utter disgust* Yes, I think we should write a book entitled 10 Things Jesus Doesn't Want You To Know. And, for that matter, write millions of other books condemning the Xtian god and his followers and put them in the Christian section and see how all the Christians react when they go to their section and search for their "manuals of light" and find nothing but books filled with intolerance about their religion... I don't know if it's just me, but when will Xtians realize that most Satanists are amused by this Xtian philosophy of "are way is the only way." Heck, I'm writing a review because these Xtian authors are so stupid it's funny!

how inspiring...
One day, someone good Christian, being inspired by what s/he's read, will up and write THIS book: 'Things Christian Leaders Doesn't Want You to Know'

Poor, sad people....(I haven't read this book...)
Why and how is it that people negate the promises of God so blithley? YES, there are hypocritcal Christians; there ARE money-grubbing Evangelists, but these are HUMAN foibles and not the "fault" of God. My prayers is that folks who so perfunctorily dismiss Almighty God think again and receive His love..

Need a lot of Ontology based Knowledge to use this book
This book often introduces terms with little or no meaning. In the early chapters, it refers to various ontologies assuming the reader knows terms like frames, slots, ...etc. Ex: pg. 18 "Class Defintion (frames) have an (optional) addtional field that specifies whether the class definition is primitive (a subsumption axiom) or a non-primitive (an equivalence axiom)." I was more confused after reading the definition. The book has very few diagrams and does not always realize how important it is for a reader to understand a fundamental concept before they go on to learning new concepts - which are based on solid fundamentals.
In later chapters, the case studies are helpful as one can start relating the myriad of concepts learned in previous chapters.
It is obvious that the authors know their stuff but their teaching style has a lot to be desired.

Inarticulate Speech of the Heart
I do not advise purchasing this book. The author seems focused on Morrison's anti-journalism to the extent that he seems to lose sight of his subject. Since Morrison is difficult (if not impossible) to interview, the author has been left with little more than the music to review. His reviews are passable but his insistence on noting numerous incidents where Morrison is arrogant and/or unappreciative of others turns the book into one long, cynical complaint regarding Van's character. The ending alone, wherein the author quotes Morrison's obscene rant to an audience member who requests a song from him, is depressing enough for me to recommend anyone to pass on this one. Sometimes ignorance IS bliss. Go buy Saint Dominic's Preview and listen for the real story!

An uneven biography: inconsistent and incomplete.
After reading John Collis' VAN MORRISON: INARTICULATE SPEECH OF THE HEART, I'm not sure of the author's intention. In the introduction, Collis claims that he "offers only respect, and simply wants to get amateur psychoanalysis out of the way at the outset." During the course of the next 200 or so pages, however, Collis revels in shameless psycho-babble of the lowest sort while repeatedly criticizing Morrison's notoriously reticent personality.

Another criticism is that Collis seemed to focus a disproportionate amount of his ten chapter biography on Van's years with Them and Van's early solo career. The first seven chapters roughly cover Van's childhood in Belfast up to the release of the WAVELENGTH album in 1978. It is thus left to the remaining three chapters to cover a twenty some odd year era which many fans consider to be Morrison's most consistently rewarding years.

Considering that Van has, on average, released an album every year, Collis' focus on this early era comes at the expense of adequately covering the middle and later periods of Van's career. Indeed, the overall feel of Collis' book is that it was rushed into to print to capitalize on the fact that no Van biographies were available when it was published in 1996.

Fortunately, with the publication of Brian Hinton's CELTIC CROSSROADS, this is no longer the case. Collis does offer some insightful comments on Van's albums, but I would recommend Patrick Humphries' THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE MUSIC OF VAN MORRISON to fulfill this task. Overall assessment: inconsistent and incomplete. Not recommended.

Very Inaccurate
You would not be even able to change your air filter if you used this book. I tried to follow the instructions for changing the air filter on my 99 Grand Caravan, but I was left with frustration. This is just one inaccuracy I found. I would'nt be surprised if there are more.

Maybe the book is good for another year not for the 1999 Grand Caravan model.
