For the price of this book, I wouldn't recommend purchasing it. The book does contain some good information, but only if the author went into more depth with each subject. I know that would have increased the size of the book, but maybe making a "Book1" and "Book2."

If you're that bored, than by all means, you can skim through this book, but as for a reference, I don't think so. After skimming through the various subjects and material, I haven't opened the book since!

This book would be better used for a person who wants to learn the basics of active electronic devices, but not to be used as a guide to do actual design, etc.

Very limited use of equations gave this book a good head start. As a book mainly used for reading, I wouldn't want to have a ton of equations like your grandpa's EE books.

A quick-turnaround mass-market paperback on the Jim Jones cult that committed spectacular suicide in South America in November 1978. Hundreds of U.S. ex-patriots drank cyanide-laced Kool-Aid at the group's jungle compound in French Guyana. Told by Washington Post staff, including the reporter who was with Congressman Ryan at the time of his assassination -- the event which triggered the mass suicide.

I was a student in a class called "The Modern Presidency", and we used this as one of our textbooks. I found the "historical" chapters, about Carter, Reagan, etc. to be entertaining and very insightful, but I found the rest of the book to be rather dull at times. Jones' work is factually correct, and he makes valid observations, but it's not a page-turner, that's for sure.

If you like science and the little details that go with it-you will really enjoy this book. It reads easily yet contains much detail.

Here are my thoughts on this book.

Pros: 1. Very reasonably priced as a comprehensive review book and supposedly a money back guarantee.
2. It is current and up to date (as of the April 2003 exam)
3. It has a pretty good variety and quantity of examples and practice problems.

Cons: 1. There are a large number of errors in the example and practice problems. I found at least 50 errors in using this book as a review guide and it is difficult, especially on some of the example problems where I would wonder for half an hour where I went wrong. Some of the errors are obvious, others are difficult or near impossible to spot if you are trying to relearn this material and remember very little. I am sure there are significantly more errors since my review did not cover the book comprehensively and I'm sure I missed a lot as well.
2. The text is not very well written. Some sections go into too much detail while others simply scratch the surface. There were times when I learned more from reading the EIT handbook than from this review book.
3. Lastly, I was a little disappointed when I went to take the practice exam and I found several identical questions to the practice problems provided in the different chapters. The least they could have done was make sure not to reuse questions so that when we'd like to take the practice exam we haven't just seen the questions from review sections.
