Good Collection of Tales and Interesting Historical Document
This is a collection of dozens of folktales culled from the Gullah tradition. They are mostly from the mid to later part of the 19th century from the coastal lowlands area of Georgia. The hundred + year-old tales are transcribed in a dialect, but they shouldn't be considered authentic renditions of the Gullah creolized language. The book has a great introduction that explains how Jones came to compile the work and write other books on a range of subjects. The dialect of the stories take a while to understand, but the glossary at the end of the book helps explain unfamiliar words. The stories are really good ones, and it is great to see this important book in print.

Gullah Folktales of the Georgia Coast
A must for study of the Gullah culture of the Southern Atlantic states. It is wonderful that the University of Georgia press reprinted Jones's 1888 collection.

Re-reading Carr
E.H. Carr has for long been regarded as a canonical realist writer, at least in the field of international relations. However, in recent years, and particularly in Britain, this interpretation of this profligate author has been called into question. writers such as Andrew linklater and Ken Booth have helped to highlight the more radical side to his writings, but the fullest expression yet of this view, this re-reading, can be found in Jones' book. By highlighting Carr's reliance on Mannheims sociology of knowledge, and by emphasising his belief in the dialectic between realism and idealism, as well as charting his tempestuos relationship with the British establishment, Jones has written a persuasive and highly stimulating account.

Questioning the Dominance of the rational party theory
Jones does a marvelous job in brining into to the harsh light the problems in using the rational party, strong president analysis to examine the relationship between Congress and the President. A must read for those with an interest in either the process of lawmaking or the interaction between the President and Congress.

Lavish photos of fabulous wildlife with good detail
I wanted a book that would stimulate my children's interest in marine life. They are into elephants and lions in a big way but there's more to life! I think this book will do nicely. Smaller than I was expecting - that just makes it easier to handle for the kids. Each page has a stunning photograph of an even more stunning creature/plant. Below the picture, there is a block of text with just enough detail. I guess a bright 12 year-old could understand it.

Business Strategy
I think that this book as a whole is a good book, except for the fact that the graphics were done only in orange. At a business stand point I thought it gave a good representation of the material. I thought that the material covered was covered well. Although there was times when I didn't understand what the authors were trying to say because the layout was difficult to understand. Another critizium that I have is that there was no pictures. I now that this is an upper level material but some people also learn by visualization like me and to see a representation of the material would be helpful.

Systematic Approach
The book covers different subjects in Strategic Management with careful attention and vivid descriptions. The clarity in understanding and implementaion theroff for each chapter are well put forwrad with adequate case studies.Step by step understanding of the subject has been emphasized which makes it very useful for students.Chapters on Strategy Implementaion for differnt stages of Industry Life cycle have been emphasized which helps in understanding different options that are availble for the enterprise. This book will be very handy for Management Students with ready reference to differnt aspects of decision making process in Strategic Management.

Excellent book on Strategic Management
Hill and Jones have written an excellent book on strategic management. The key element, the importance of exploiting Distinctive Competencies based on Efficiency ,Quality, Innovation, and Customer Satisfaction in order to achieve Competetive Advantage, is demonstrated througout his book in his concise and to the point cases, which are all recent experiences of well known players. Its final case study is a practical and powerful way to ensure that his concepts are understood. Carlos A. De Izcue. Business Consultant. Lima Peru

A Waste of Money & Ink
Although this book describes itself as "the ultimate cat book", it is just a simple poem with childish illustrations. The best lines are the ones excerpted in the editorial review - the rest was disappointing. I suspect that the other reviewer is a friend of the author. It would be kind of cute for [$] but at [$] it's way overpriced.

It's all right there
This book is small but it revealing. It reminds me in its quiet tone of Rosemary Wells' books 'To The Bunny Planet'. We've all watched cats but not this carefully. The artwork is engaging and the language direct. It will make you better at looking at everything. It is a great book to use as a springboard for your own writing. I think it is as appropriate for adults as it is for children.

Introduction to Choctaw
Published in Paperback by Jeffrey Norton Pub (1991)
Author: Charles G. Jones
Amazon base price: $59.95

Needs Revision
This book needs to be edited and revised so that the language presented flows on a smoother gradient from simple to complex. It begins very simply and ends with a story containing a great deal of grammatical complexity, most of which has not been explained or presented. Also, it is impossible with the data given in the course to do some of the exercises. I found it very frustrating. Its greatest feature, however, is Charley Jones as a native speaker.

Learn the sounds
This is a great way to learn how the sounds of the language should be. One of the hard points about the language is trying to understand how the words should sound or be pronounced like. This tape helps you in learning the language and speaking it correctly. If you want to learn more about the language, this is the tape series you need.

Totally emo, cheesy tear-jerker
Looks like a quick effort to get something published and cash in on the hysteria surrounding the bombing. The author search for material to fill the books 276 page span but only comes up empty and trite. Pseudo-theological observations just add to the overall cheesiness. Skip the books and wait for it to come on A&E or something.

Amazing heart warming book
This is an incredible book! It really shows the truth about what happend that terrible day in Oklahoma City. Not only does it tell the stories about the lives that were lost it also tells about how God touched people that were involved. I cried as I read the entire book. First, tears of major sorrow and anger. But, the writter and the photographer did an amazing job of showing how God was with the people who were hurt and within the entire Oklahoma City community. At the end of the book I cried tears of joy just in the thought that God is with us even in the worst of times. He (God) can't prevent the evil humans do to eachother, but he has an amazing promise that he will always be with us! This book really answers the hard Question of "Where was God at 9:02 a.m."

Great Story, Terrible Book
"Awkward" and "provincial" wrote the NY Times reviewer, and I can't disagree. To get an idea of the biographer's perspective on Kinsey, consider that he refers to an interest in S/M as "peculiar," and closes by predicting that had the atheistic Kinsey lived to see the age of AIDS, he would have seen AIDS as the work of a "wrathful God."

Thorough, biassed and both scientifically and sexually naive
James Jones's biography of Alfred c Kinsey is a valuable antidote to the hagiographies and demonologies published so far. Jones presents the nastier sides of his subject's personality and exposes his strategically concealed sexual practices. However, Jones presents Kinsey as a pervert and charlatan, failing to understand the moral and scientific rationales for Kinsey's approach to sex research and thus totally misrepresents both the man and his achievement. Jones's last-page sop to Kinsey's greatness seems to be a cowardly after-thought to a bilious, splenetic and angry book.

A better choice
I would recomend reading Judith Reismman's new book: Kinsey: Crimes and Consequences.

The Kinsey Institute revealed that Kinsey used pedophiles to document orgasms in hundreds of boys and girls as young a 5 months old. One of his favorites reported abusing at least 800 children. These

Kinsey reclassified prostitutes as married woman when he could not find enough woman willing to submit to his questionnaire. He used child molesters, rapists, homosexuals, prostitutes, sadists, masochists, etc. to represent the average American.

Kinsey would not allow anyone, even a janitor to work for him unless they submitted to a sexual history questionnaire. When applicants did not agree that adultery, pre-marital sex, and sex with animals was normal, he told them they would not fit in with his staff.

The Rockafeller Foundation's records reveal that Kinsey's associates were unqualified. Not only were the histories unscientifically administered but the statistics were proven unreliable and inacurate.

If you want to know the full truth of the Kinsey deception -- buy Reisman's well documented book.
