This is One of the Best Math Textbooks I Have Ever Had!
I really enjoyed this textbook. The authors of this book really did a good job making you enjoy math. I used to hate math, but this book was an exception. They greatly explain theorems and other things so you won't get confused. One way I liked this book was its many math related photos. Also if you are confused on a lesson they have answers in the back in the book to help you to check your work or give you answers to things you are struggling in. They also have in class lessons so you can understand the concepts you are about to learn in the lesson and homework. They also greatly explain how to do proofs, and everything that involves triangles and trionometry to statistics and functions. They give you reviews and self-tests with all the answers in the back of the book so you can master the information you have just learned in the chapter. Also, I recommend this to anyone who loves math, anyone who is ok or great in math, or anyone who justs wants to learn trigonometry. Finally, all the teachers I have ever had me use UCSMP this book have always loved the books, the material that the studnets grasp easily, and the benefits that the book gives over other textbooks.

I went to high school with Darcey Steinke. I lived down the street from her (past the bottom of the hill, where our streets joined). I don't have any reviews to share. I just wanted to congratulate her on her overwhelming success. Darcey, congratulations, and remember coach "Disco" Lindsey in a future book, please.

A gripping story of a recreation of an epic flight.
An incredible book about an incredible flight. It is difficult to know which is the more interesting -- the historical part of the book about the original Smith brothers flight, or Peter McMillan's account of his modern day recreation of the same flight. As an aviation buff I loved the detail of how the airplane was built (using the original plans) and tested and then the day-by-day chronicle of the flight. The chapter about the crash in Indonesia (by uncanny coincidence in virtually the same place as the Smith brothers 75 years before) is a great read. Highly recommended.

A welcome introduction
For those wishing to study military history, either seriously or for their own benefit this is a great work to start with. A chronological by subject discussion and listing of the principle texts of military history in the english language. While this could use an update to cover more recent history, you will find nothing better or more recent available to you. This book is not only informative, but readable as well. It is also great for those with some knowledge of military history who wish to branch out into other areas of the field.

A must for anyone interested in sexology and law !
A reference book for both sexologists and criminologists, or anyone interested in human sciences with basic understanding of the DSM-III-R / DSM -IV psychiatric terminology. Contains interesting analysis of incest laws and their cultural backgrounds, fine description of pedophilia and other paraphilias, prostitution and sexual harassment and transsexualism (with regard to sex reassignment and law). The second part of the book deals with the identification and case management of sex offenses, among which the allegations of satanism and ritual sex abuse, the manufacture of sexual abuse "memories", the alleged child victim and real victims of sexual abuse. Part three offers some views on paraphilic prevention and its social and legal implications, i.e. the social tolerance versus criminalization debate. Further contributions include: the alleged link between pornography and violence, the psychiatric complications of AIDS, and forensic sexology in China and Russia. A must on the bookshelves of academics and professionals in human sciences !

Best book on the home outside the Bible itself
I wish we would have had this book when our children were young. It's written in the language of the early 1800's, but well-worth the "struggle" to read it. If you're a Christian, this is must reading, especially if you have children, or grandchildren. Pass it on to those you love.

Little Gems from The Master
Henry James (1843-1916) was nicknamed The Master by admiring fellow-authors towards the end of his life. He is truly a noble, gifted, psychological author depicting a by-gone era but including timeless insights about human beings and their general and mental situations in his writings. He is a master of lengthy prose (too lengthy for some!) These Library of America editions of James's writings are wonderful, high-quality, unabridged books with expert editing (notes) at the back of the volume. They have a knack for selecting the best editions of the author's writings where more than one version was published in the author's lifetime. The short stories of this volume are from the mature period but before James' final developed style of fictional writing. There are a large number of stories including many wonderful gems such as "Owen Wingrave," "The Coxon Fund" and "In the Cage." To be fair, most of the stories were written quickly for magazines, and a few ("Glasses" comes to mind) just aren't good stories at all, in my opinion. However, most of the stories do succeed quite well. "Owen Wingrave" (criticized by Bernard Shaw as being too deterministic and neglecting free will) is actually a penetrating tale about military culture, military values, and the role of the military in the nineteenth-century world. "The Coxon Fund" is about a brilliant lecturer supported by the fund but whose life and the lives of his supporters are full of pitfalls outside of the Fund's influence. The story shows how the successes and failures of the Fund (and the Lecturer) have subtle and not-so-subtle ramifications for each of the characters. With "In the Cage", the author steps outside of his accustomed higher-class and higher-educated mix of characters to present the plight of a penetrating lower-class telegram processor and her insights on life and her suitor. I found it a nice rendition of late-nineteenth century London. I encourage readers to explore this and other Library of America editions of James' writings.
