I Beat It!
I was stuck on a leval, when I stumbled on this Bible in its own way. It got me through the game in no time. it goes over all the levles and tells you what to look for and where. It tells locations of all seashells and hearts, how to beat bad guys, and even where to bomb. I won this game one week after I bought this book! Buy it!

Very Very Useful!
This book tells you everything about links awakening. There is a pull out map of koholint island (where the game takes place), maps of all Nine dungeons and locations of all pieces of heart and secret seashells. The only disadvantage is that it tells you so much that it might not be right for some people. Before I got this book I never played Zelda, but now I play it a lot. THIS IS A VERY GOOD BOOK!

These two do it again
From the co-authors of Prima's Star Ocean: The Second Story Official Strategy Guide (an product of pure excellence) comes another FULLY COMPLETE guide to what is hands down the greatest Game Boy game ever made [to date, of course]. Every single area is mapped out in full color, all items, weapons, heart pieces, and seashells are revealed, all the new photograph opportunities are shown, and the enemy/boss strategies are right on the money. The walkthrough is very well done as well, for those who need step-by-step directions for getting through the game's dungeons (including the new secret color dungeon). The only thing I feel could have been added woould be to point out to players how to open up some of the rooms (i.e., the map in the book shows the players where to go next, but a player might not know to throw a pot at a door, or kill all of the enemies, to allow them passage to get there). But even that will not reduce the overall rating of this excellent guide. It's too bad it was not released months earlier when the game was; it probably would have done much better in sales. Add this one to your collection today (and you can't beat amazon's price!).

A must-have if you want to uncover the secrets in Star Ocean
Not only is this game the best role-playing game for the PlayStation this year, it has an awesome strategy guide from Prima. If you want tips on item creation and side-quests, this is the book to have. The only problems with the strategy guide is that there is no map for the bonus dungeon and the boss tips could be more thorough. However, the great price from amazon.com makes it worth the measly 12 bucks you dish out for it!

Star Ocean: Second Story - The Official Strategy Guide
I used to own the game and this guide. You'll have to severely nit-pick this guide to find anything missing/incorrect. The only mistake I found was that a sword that Claude can make was omitted. I'll let you try and see if you can find out which one. You'll find better swords though, so don't worry about it. Completionists will still get it easy enough.

With all the things you can do in Star Ocean 2, I thought this guide would be full of holes. It wasn't. Prima did a job on this guide that far surpasses any work they have done before and since this game's release. I doubt that they or their competitors will ever surpass this kind of thurough research and quality.

All strategy guide authors should use this as a model...
This book is an absolute perfect example of THE ideal strategy guide. You get more than what you pay for with this one--virtually everything to be found in the game is explored in fine detail within these many pages. I say many because this is the absolute thickest guide I've ever seen written on one console game. No filler in between the pages either--this thing is PACKED with info and superbly clear, full-color screenshots to help you out in any situation. The maps were organized very well, as were the numerous tables with equipment, enemy, and skill stats. When you take a look at this guide, one wonders why the majority of strategy guides (from all publishers) are not nearly as complete as this one. This is money well worth spent for anyone who owns the excellent PlayStation game.

The Lyon's Throne (Stainer, M. L., Lyon Saga, Bk. 4.)

Racial Discrimination and Piracy
Plucky Jess is now 19 (mother of one and expecting) at the start of this 4th book in the LYON saga. M.L. Stainer tranports Jess, her Indian husband and several other non-English friends in a circuitous manner back to England. Pirates, separation from her English family and a woman's worst shipboard terrors stalk the prisoners for months--challenges sufficient to bring a lesser heroine to despair. Undaunted and deteremined to hide her non-Indian identity, Jess conceives a grandiose plan: to seek an audience with Gloriana--Elizabeth I. What would the mighty Queen of England care about the fate of a poor English colonist and several half-breed children?

While her warrior
husband chafes in confinement and shame at his captive status, Jess battles her own quick tongue, which threatens to sabotage her hopes. Who will befriend the outcasts in England? How can a girl who prefers the free and salty sands of the New World win the patronage of the Virgin Queen? How will Native Americans fit in or even survive months as captive "guests?" Will they be better received at court or by the common people? Follow the Lyon's saga as the author offers yet another possible solution to the mystery of the vanished colony of Roanoke. This series, which introduces to elementary readers the genre of historical fiction, will appeal to girls, and hopefully stimulate interest in pre Jamestown settlement of America. With the emphasis on the role of imported horses, this series provides excellent background for the Misty of Chincoteague books by Marguerite Henry.

Eagerly awaited
This is the fourth book in the Lyon Saga series of five and eagerly awaited. After Jess was kidnapped by pirates, I couldn't wait to see what happened next. In Queen Elizabeth I's court, she must work hard to gain freedom for herself and her friends, especially Enrique, locked up in the Tower. Great action, thrilling adventure. Make sure you read the books in order.

History Comes Alive!
This book makes colonial history come alive. Everyone thinks the first colonists were the Pilgrims. But these people were here long before. What happened to them? M. L. Stainer makes Jess and her adventures so exciting.

Skimpy on the ART
If you can get this book used for under $10 dollars

AND...

You are interested in the whole workings of the Vatican National Geographic sytle, buy it it, is a great book from that perspective.

It is not an over $20 dollar art book because a large number of pages which could have been used for images are wasted on oversize text. Five pages of the books text could have fit on one page.

The photographs are great, but they are of everything including wasted full page close ups of guards. If you want a general book on the vatican this book delivers......but if you thought that "Inside the Vatican" meant a lot of art you might not see otherwise this is not the right book for the price.
It is not an Art book like one thinks of with Konemann books, there are some good photos and enough for a general book like this but it does not have enough art to warrant the price, then again I guess no one really said it was supposed to be art book.
I have written this review just as a warning for some people who might think that there is a lot of art here.....it is not an art book. This fact is kind of a shame because after 65% of the book is finished and it finally does get to the "Treasures section" the photographs are decent, however it makes you wonder why did we need a whole page close up of a guards face and only a quarter page on some of the art.
The Wonderful frescoes of the Vatican are very few and most are the usual 4 token shots of the Sistine chapel.
The wonderful Hall of Constantine isnt covered at all. I agree with all the other reviewers, if you are a National Geographic format fan, this is one of their best efforts.

But....The wrong pictures are too big, the right pictures are too small, the really wonderful pictures never made it into the book, and way, way, too much space is dedicated to oversize text.

I bought it used, do the same, it is not a new full price book,
there is enough for under $10 even if your main interest is art but you will not get as "Inside the Vatican" as you might with other books about the Vatican Art.

Good Pope pictures, Pope-Mobile pictures, and that sort of thing
and good "Quick read history".

Wonderful--Makes me Proud
I was proud to be a Catholic anyway, but gee the wonderful stories, history and people behind this book makes it a must own for Catholics!

Buy it!
Jim Stanfield is one of the most accomplished photographers to work for National Geographic. I met Jim several years ago, and he's a fine gentleman as well as an outstanding photographer. He won one of the top photojournalism awards in the world, in 1986, based partly on this body of work as well as an essay on Isreal. Bob Gilka, who was Jim's boss at National Geographic, told me he thought Jim was the most technically accomplished photographer working for the magazine. When there was an especially difficult job to do, it was given to him. And Jim's technical expertise shows through, but there's more here than technically superior images. These are stunningly gorgeous photographs in their own right. But they are more than that, they give you an insight into life at the Vatican that will never be repeated. Buy it. I can't wait for more books by Jim Stanfield to hit the shelves.

Catch all the 3 Versions in a Book
Decide to buy this book because it serves as a guide to all 3 versions of the Pokemon game (Red, Blue, and Yellow). Though it primarily focuses on the Yellow version, it doesn't lack telling one what he could expect and the differences in the other two.

The Pokedex provided inside is pretty cool too. Besides having a full listing of all the Pokemons, their types, and their learned skills at different levels, it also shows the locations where they could be found, and the TMs they could learn (something quite different from the guide books of Red and Blue).

Personally, I find the big 'tear-out' poster map attached at the back, plus the 2-pages rough outlines of what one needs to achieve at the different towns a very useful quick guide to start the game with.

A worthwhile book if you have yet owned any Red and Blue guides. Else, you might find many contents repeated, though you may still buy it for the poster map and comprehensive Pokedex.

Great Game Great Guide
Pokemon Yellow is the best game ever Pikachu follows you around and you can even go to Sunny Town and Neon Town like the showeven get a Togepy and go in back of Bill's House. The Guide helps you alot too.

Primas Done It Again!
Prima's done it again with another MUST BUY pokemon strategy guide! This book helps you throughout your entire journey with pikachu (remember this game is based on the pokemon cartoon series) plus gives you all the tm's and hm's guide locations of were you will run into team rocket, your rival, locations of all the pokemon and more!!....this book is a MUST HAVE.

It was an okay book compared to the other strategy guides.
Zelda Ocarnia of Time Strategy Guide was confusing sometimes when I was trying to play the game. Eventhough it got me through many other parts I can't seem to get the Boss Key with it for the Fire Temple. The pictures are small and hard to see aposed to the other strategy guides. It also didn't show how to get the Gold Skultas and heart pieces visually. It showed just but a list of where the Gold Skultas are instead of showing where they are from the begining. It was an okay book though trying to tell the reader who to get through the game and beat it. All I can say is that it has some ups and downs through the making. As an overview it was okay and helped me through many parts but on the other hand some parts of the game was through my own instincts.

Best Guide Prima Ever Made.. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
If your a Zelda fan like me and like Zelda a lot this is the book for you. It has great pictures (the only one with better pictures is the Official Nintendo one and that guide isn't that great) It gives you step-by-step information and great for the temples and dungeons, skulltula's,and pieces of heart, as well as boss strategies! It is also fun to read and packed with lots of information (this guide must have taken a LONG time in the making) And when the new Zelda game comes out, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Masks comes out i'll be looking for Prima's guide and I hope it's good! So don't be tricked by the Nintendo Official (uh oh bad sign no good secrets not even the ocarina songs and worse yet writing the songs in the guide! ) anyways this is the best guide for Zelda 64 and you can't go wrong buying it (even if you mastered it and beat without a guide) It's great and I give it 999,999,999,999 stars. Email me @ VegetaSS64@aol.com

Prima's Best Guide Yet... Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time!
This is an awesome book to go with an awesome game! It tells you everything you want to know about Zelda. Plus it tells you the location of every item. And every heart container/heart piece in the game. This guide took some time to make and is excellent! If your having trouble at Zelda get this guide it will help you. And it's a good read. Also step-by-step walkthroughs of all dungeon, temples, and secret areas! PLUS the location of ALL 100 gold skulltulas! It even has the info for all the past Zelda games (like names and the year the gamea came out) when the new Zelda game comes out, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Japanese: Legend of Zelda: Majora no Kamen) I will be looking for Prima's guide! So if your looking for the best guide for this game it's Prima's. Nintendo's doesn't even give you the ocarina songs! So make sure you buy this guide!

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Official Stratetgy Guide (Secrets of the Games Series.)

Amazon base price: $14.99

Are you sure this is Official?
I was genuinely surprised to open this relatively inexpensive title to find beautiful full color shots with thick, glossy pages. But I was more so disappointed when if found the first 30 pages a rehash of the instructions and online help that comes with the game, and to see that the meat of the book was just maps and virtually no strategy. I feel that the main reason for such a guide is to provide the best battle stratgies on dealing with enemies, not just simply list what enemies there are to be found and the recommended characters to use. The greatest features of this guide, though, are the comprehensive lists of jobs, enemies, and useful and equippable items. I like the fact that this book, despite its pre-game release, covered in full the American version of Final Fantasy Tactics, but it turned out to be more of an FAQ than anything.

You're gonna need a stapler...
This book is a strategy guide. What else can I say? We've all seen strategy guides before. The thing that makes this book great for this AMAZING game is the "suggested battle formations" on each battle map. Outstanding. Works every time.

But you WILL need a stapler. Im not kidding. The binding is TERRIBLE! Everyone I know has had their book completely fall apart at the seam. Read the other reviews...you'll see.

But this IS an indispensible guide to one of my ALL time favorite games. The best game (in my humble opinion) to carry the name Final Fantasy. Thats saying ALOT. And this book is the only "official" strategy guide Ive found that didnt dissappoint me.

This book is the best for detailed guidance in tough places.
Prima's always been goodm to me and proves the same in this guidebook. Final Fantasy Tactics is a hard game to play without knowing what to do. This book tells you all the secrets, all the strategys, and everything you could possibly want to know about the game! I couldn't get pass the third battle without it! This guide is spectacular and can give you the edge in the game without spoiling the fun.

Very little practical help
Too much psychobabble with little practical help that hasn't been offered a thousand times before. The book should focus more on the opportunities the giftedness creates for the child both in education and in living a richer life. Developing the "hungry mind" is key, and not letting the child's curiosity be stifled by a lowest-common-denominator public schooling system. A much better book was "Bringing Out the Best: A Resource Guide for Parents of Young Gifted Children."

An excellent usable resource
This is one of the best books on gifted children I have read. I think it is particularly valuable because it focuses less on schooling concerns and more on dealing with the specific issues these children deal with. There are chapters on stress management, motivation, peers, and feelings, to name a few, and each chapter gives tips on how parents can help kids with these issues. This is a great book, and I find myself referring to it often!

Great Primer
I truly enjoyed this book because of the primer nature of the text. Written to appeal to an intelligent lay person, the book addresses a vast array of parenting issues--not just those specific for gifted children. The soft-cover is a good beginning for your research on the concept of "giftedness" in your child and perhaps even yourself. Well worth it and the price is much better than I paid at a Webb talk. An engaging speaker, the text is conversational and straightforward.

Farewell the trumpets : an imperial retreat
Published in Unknown Binding by Faber and Faber ()
Author: James Morris
Amazon base price: $
Average review score:

Trilogy is a wonderful account of the British Empire
Jan Morris is a fascinating personality. She originally was a he, and he was a guardsman in the British army, an officer from a good family. He left the service, became a historian, and then went to Denmark or wherever, and came back a she. She now writes unusual, affecting, eccentric, entertaining books that are terribly British and a bit disorganized. The Pax Brittanica trilogy is her life's work, near enough, though she's done other books that are very good. This one, however, is three volumes long, quite involved and very detailed. The series includes Heaven's Command, Pax Britannica, and Farewell the Trumpets. The first generally deals with the Empire in the 1840s on, the second follows things through the thirties, and the third follows the empire through its disbandment.

As I said, Morris is eccentric. This means that though the books are sort of chronological, they aren't exactly sorted the way you would expect, and this isn't really a history of the empire or the era. Instead, it's an anecdotal collection of tales, incidents, and sketches, marvelously told. Sort of like the difference between going through a cafeteria once and a sumptuous buffet where you go back and forth, taking time with what you enjoy. I thoroughly enjoyed the books, though I would hesitate to recommend them to someone who wasn't clear on either geography, or at least some basic history of the British Empire. Since this isn't either of those, you need them to understand what she's talking about occasionally.

Another cogent narrative of the Empire's decline.
I just completed the final volume of James Morris' trilogy. The writing is superb. Although not as good as volume one (Heaven's Command), this book is well worth keeping. As usual; my only quibble is that there are no pictures in the Harcourt set that I have. That takes away a star.

Final installment of a masterpiece
Even if you haven't read the other two volumes in the Pax Britannica trilogy, Farewell the Trumpets is a must-buy. It's worth it just to read the brilliant eulogy for Winston Churchill, where in one chapter Morris does better job of capturing this man and his place in history than lesser authors could do in a whole volume.

My recommendation is to take your time and savor this book. Like Heaven's Command and Pax Britannica, Farewell the Trumpets is episodic in its presentation, each chapter a self-contained nugget, so that you can enjoy dipping into it frequently.

Confusing and not well written
First off, DO NOT BUY THIS!! This book may help you get the masks, but not only are there mistakes in the book (as to where the fairys are) but the directions are confusing. Buy the official guide from Nintendo. Prima's player guide gives confusing directions and is a pain to decipher, I had to collect all the fairys from one of the temples because the book missed the location of one of the fairys. Using the guide to help me complete the water temple was a pain! It gave confusing directions by telling you to go North or South, East or West, and that is very difficult especially when you are located in a temple. I suggest that you buy the Nintendo guide instead of this. Nintendo gives specific directions (such as leave through the red door, etc) and is detailed with accurate maps and such. Don't buy this guide, it doesn't help you very much, and you may as well try to complete the game without the help of this book at all its so confusing and badly written.

THE BEST GUIDE FOR ZELDA EVER!!!!
When i bought this guide i had already finshed the game and found most of the secrets i bought it because i wanted to find out where the last couple of masks were. When i opened the book i was amazed at how detailed it was i got all the masks including the adult mask and i found out where are lot more secrets are... A MUST HAVE FOR ANY ZELDA FAN

A Great Way to Fully Experience the Game
Even if you resist cheat guides or have already mastered the game, players should buy this book, study it and then go through the whole game again. Even mastering the game, most players will not have found many of secrets and features. Of course it is also perfect for anyone who is stuck and needs a little help to advance.

A good strategy guide for a great game.
