Pawtucket's Rich History
Pawtucket, Rhode Island, has a rich history. These authors have labored well in finding that history. Among other things, they have dug through old deeds and other documents to produce maps based on the description of the land holdings before 1800. With this book in hand, you can navigate the streets of present day Pawtucket and trace history.

Important to lovers of family history, particularily the Bucklin family, are the details of family and town life before 1750.

a book for all Filipinos and lovers of things Philippine
First of all, this is a sumptuously illustrated book. It is already worth what you pay for it in the illustrations. This is no wonder though because as the rest of the subtitle states, the book represents seven days in the Philippines with 35 of the world's finest photographers. Add to that well written text and you have truly excellent value in this book. My favourite section is the short Philippine history written by James Hamilton-Patterson. A thinking person's coffee table book.

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

One of the best unlicensed D&D novels on the market
TSR has made a real industry with its game-related fiction lines (such as the Dragonlance novels), but there's plenty of additional fiction out there which has been inspired, in one way or another, by the Advanced Dungeons and Dragon game. One of the best -- and certainly most original -- is Elizabeth Moon's The Deed of Paksenarrion series, which follows the adventures of a young woman as she strives to become a paladin.

All the conventions of an AD&D paladin, such as Protection From Evil and Healing, are marvelously preserved here. And anyone who's played (or played alongside) a paladin character in AD&D will immediately identify with the grueling trials Paksenarrion goes through (in fact, I'd encourage anyone who's interested in playing a paladian to read these books first!). Much of the romance is stripped away, but in its place is a kernel of true integrity and spirit. Whatever else may be true, I'm certain Elizabeth Moon is a marvelous role-player.

The first book in the series, Sheepfarmer's Daughter, is partially set in the classic D&D adventure The Village of Hommlet by Gary Gygax (1979, TSR). You'll recognize the Drow -- and their spider god Lloth -- almost immediately, despite the changed names. Moon couldn't have chosen a better setting for her tale: a dark moor where the spirit of a warrior is tested as much as her courage.

As incredible as it sounds, this is better than Tolkien
Why do I think that? Well, primarily it's because Moon writes in a more modern style than Tolkien, which makes her infinitely more readable than he ever was.

Don't get the wrong idea - in fantasy, Tolkien is still the standard by which all others are judged. I've read "The Hobbit" and LOTR four times over the last ten years. But I've always had trouble reading it because of Tolkien's flowery and somewhat antiquated writing style.

"The Deed of Paksenarrion", on the other hand, is written in a contemporary mode, in more ways than one. It is also a more active story than LOTR, and there is less emphasis on magic - although elves and other magical creatures do play a major part in the story.

I understand that there is a prequel to this book, dealing with the history of Gird, the warrior saint mentioned throughout "Deed". I plan to buy this book as soon as possible; if it's written even half as well as "Deed" I should be in for a treat.

An Amazing experience!
As a veteran sci fi and fantasy reader, I was a amazed by the sense of realism and believability Elizabeth Moon instilled into the Deed of Paksenarrion.

So many other fantasy stories just drop you in wherever, and expect you to take the magic, the powers and the different races for granted. In Paksenarrion, you see here growth for a frightened and rebellious youth, to a mighty Paladin of Gird. It was a new experience to see how a Paladin comes about, how normal people in fantasy worlds feel about magic powers and other races.

I have never had another book move me to the same depths of emotion as the Deed of Paksenarrion. Like others, I stayed up all night, not being able to put the book down. I remember clearly it being about 4am that I burst into tears and sobbed for about 15 minutes. I was not the only time I cried in the book. I also laughed at times, and grew to love Paks and her friends.

If you love fantasy books, then this is a must read. A hint though, don't read the second book of the trilogy until you have the third! It would be tragic to be at the end of the second book without being able to find out what happens.

I don't know how many times I have read the books. I read the individual editions til the fell apart, and am now on to the joined edition. I pray for more books about Paks!

A VERY, VERY GOOD BOOK. IT HELPED ME BEAT THE GAME
The moment I borrowed this book from my friend , I found it to be the best guide that I have ever read. The information was very accurate and the maps were beautiful. Not to mention the awesome colour. There were some errors however. I states that you can find a Pokemon called Lucky in the Unknown Dungeon, but they really ment Chansey. Also the Unknown Dungeon map is completely wrong. There are also many spelling errors and the pages fall apart very easily. I think that they should have spent some more time spell checking the book and doing one complete run through to check for accuracy and errors before it was put out in the stores. Over all I thought I thought that it was a great piece of advice and that I couldn't have gotten along without it. Their Pokedex was amazing with all the information that you'd ever need to become a Pokemon Master. It was very creative and not to mention very organized. My sincere thanks to all those great people who put this amazing book together.I strongly recommend anyone who has the game to either purchase or borrow this fine book. Thanks a ton, Daniel Valadares Oakville,Ontario CANADA

You can't go wrong with this guide by your side!
This book is the best Pokemon guide I've read. It's better than the "Pokemon Trainer's Survival Guide."

"Pokemon: Prima's Official Strategy Guide" will make it easier and more fun to play either the blue or red version. The easy-to-read maps help you find your way through Pokemon Island.

The book has a section called "All the Skills You Ever Need to Know" that tells you the best attacks as well as which attacks your Pokemon should forget. Another section called "Items Galore" tells you which objects to toss and which ones to keep. There's also a very handy Pokemon Check-List.

This guide will help you catch 'em all.
