What's really good is good....what's really bad is bad.
For the most part I enjoyed this book it was very interesting. But it was lacking in some areas. First of all the Author describes the Egyptians as "olive skinned people". She should have taken a look at a map to discover where Egypt was.In Africa not Europe! Further Manassah's love for the little harpist almost made me gag. How many fifteen year old boys do you know would fall in love and spend ten years pinning after a girl they first saw when she was seven? Please. Though I don't think that she meant to do it I sort of got the sense that the Egyptians were being portrayed as back water heathens totally unredeamable so that the Hebrews would look flawless. It was far too out of balance. That being said the book was really interesting, it was nice that she focused on Joseph and Tuya again. The dinamics between Joseph and his two sons was really interesting. It's worth a shot.
A Really Great Book
In her historical fiction novel, Journey, Angela Elwell Hunt writes about the bible and God, by describing the life of the character, Joseph, and the people affecting his life. Joseph rises from the set back of slavery to becoming the grand-vizier to the Pharaoh of Egypt by using only his faith in God, and his knowledge that God will not fail him. The statement declared by Joseph, "By faith, we understand that the word of the invisible God prepared the world. The things we see were not made by visible hands, but invisible," is an example of how Hunt makes reference to God in her book and how she uses it to describe the theme as well. She uses real characters from the bible, and combines them with the emotions, actions, and events that would normally happen, to tell the story of Joseph, God, and everyone involved in their lives. Hunt's style of writing also helped to depict the theme of this novel. She states everything clearly and in detail so that you can understand how different characters in this book are connected with each other while keeping with her topic of God. She also shows this by describing the different settings of this book in Egypt vividly and clearly. By describing the character's reactions to his surroundings as well as the appearance of them she helps the reader to understand what events are taking place, and how they are related to the plot. This book is a book for readers with a religious background and that are associated with God or people curious about the story of Joseph in the bible. It gives the reader a sense of how a relationship with God could improve your life. It also educates the reader in a very understandable way about some of the stories of the bible and how they can help in our everyday lives. All in all this was a fun book to read and it had many twists and turns that kept the reading fun and interesting while sending out an important message at the same time.
A GREAT ENDING TO A GREAT SERIES
as always hunt brings to life the story of joseph's family in a remarkable way. you must finish the series and read this wonderful ending.

I think both are right
The 3/15/03 and 4/13/03 reviews have opposing opinions of this book. Funny thing is, both are right in what they say. Dyer's biblical overview is accurate but he has little to say about Saddam Hussein, despite the fact Hussein is on the cover of the book! I sure was expecting more info on Saddam Hussein than I got.
Now that the 2003 Persian Gulf War is over, let's see if those "weapons of mass destruction" are found in Iraq, as President Bush insisted they would be. Any bets?
Eye-opening details and Insights
In view of the escalating tension between Iraq and the rest of the world, this book offers some eye-opening details and insights. About 2500 years ago Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon besieged the kingdom of Judah, conquered the Jews and took away to Babylon all their treasures. This rise and fall of Nebuchadnezzar is narrated in the Bible. Has Saddam Hussein of Iraq taken on the mission of this world conqueror? The author Charles Dyer who has traveled extensively in the Middle East, has some shocking details and insights to offer.
I couldn't put it down.
I was fascinated with the insight into Saddam's rise to power. I started reading this book just before the war began in Iraq. I was convinced that we were right to make sure Saddam was overthrown. The nation of Iraq has been in turmoil since day one of Saddam's reign and too many innocent lives have been lost. As a Christian interested in prophesy, this book also answered many of my questions as to Iraq's role in the events leading up to the Tribulation. As a bonus, Mr. Dyer has included some fascinating photographs of the ancient city of Babylon.
