Colorful Fun!
Do you have a toddler that loves to explore? Then the colorful Sesame Street Lift-And-Peek Party might be just what you're looking for. Packed with playful illustrations of favorite Sesame Street characters, the big board book not only features several flaps on every page, but also includes a different activity on each page.

For instance, on one page, Bert and Ernie have a list of several small items and ask readers to help find them on the page. On another, kids are asked by the Count to guess the number of jelly beans in a jar.

Educational and fun, the book also includes lots of peek-a-boo windows that allow the characters to appear in different scenes on two pages. Toddlers will have fun discovering their favorite Sesame Street friends and may even learn a thing or two in the process.

"Life's like a Movie, write your own ending"
At the end of the first Muppet Movie, Kermit turns to the camera and simply sings the above line. It is clear from reading this book that this sentiment was something that was echoed though out Jim Henson's life and his story will undoubtedly always be a source of inspiration for others. I enjoyed this book but feel that I should tell you it was written with the younger reader in mind and the story is always kept simple. If you wanted a more detailed account of his life you might try "Jim Henson - The works, the magic, etc.." Having said that, it is still a charming book that I am glad to have on my shelf.

Great book on nutrition
This is a great book for teaching nutrition to the very young. Cookie Monster never fails to capture the attention of kids, and Bert and Ernie do a great job showing Cookie that there is more to life than cookies, veggies are great, too. My only concern about this book is that Bert and Ernie use a stove without an adult, so parents will need to remind children that real little kids don't do that.

Great Book
It is a great book for toddlers to draw related things that they imagine when they see the scene and things in the page. But it's quite disappointed that there is only few pages for fun.

Great Idea!
My son just loved this book so much, I've got to get one for my nephew! Ingenious to combine the love of reading with the imagination of creativity! My son is the biggest Elmo junkie, so this is right up his alley, (and at least he's no longer writing on the walls!)

Finally, a chalkboard!
After searching for a simple chalkboard for my son, I came across this wonderfully interactive book. My son loves to draw in the book long after Elmo's adventures are done! At two and a half, he's trying to copy the letters in the book on the boards.

Ernie and Bert's New Kitten
Ernie and Bert's New Kitten is a very good book. I enjoyed it a lot. The book is about a kitten that Bert and Ernie's neighbor's cat has. The boy's beg and beg until they finally get the kitten. They think that it will all be fun and games, until the kitten starts to wreak havoc on their house and destroy their things. My favorite part was when Ernie started trippin' because the kitten chewed a hole in his rubber ducky and before that when he was singing to the rubber ducky. The book teaches little kids responsibility and how important it is to take care of your things, especially if it is a living thing, like a kitten. It also has very colorful pictures that go with the story very well.

What's up with Horn Books, by the way?
Is it me or is every review they do of this series of books negative and completely non-specific? Obviously the individual who reviewed these books for them has completely forgotten what 5 and 6 years old actually like to read in books. Oh well.

As I've stated in several other reviews, I used to read this series of books to my sisters back when they were first in print in the 80s and early 90s. Now that I have a child of my own I have been re-collecting these books to read to him.

Ernie and Bert's New Kitten should be a mandatory purchase for anyone who bought the Two Wheels for Grover Book, as it shows children the actualities involved with being responsible for a kitten. Ernie and Bert get one of Susan's cat's new kittens and don't quite seem to know what they are getting into beforehand -- Bernie the kitten dumps his food and water all over the floor, destroys Bert's paper clip collection, and scatters their favorite possessions all over the apartment/house they live in. The last straw for Ernie comes when Bernie chews a hole in Rubber Duckie, and he hollers at the terrified kitty. Bert calms him down, fixes Rubber Duckie, and they both realize that having a kitten is a lot like having an Ernie -- cute and funny but also messy and kind of clueless sometimes.

This book is definitely not Hautzig's best, and the ending is a bit weak (is it really a great idea to show that yelling at one's pets is okay behavior?) but overall it gives a good overview of what actual pet ownership entails. Required reading for any children begging their parents for a pet.

best in kids
This book was educational as well as fun i really enjoyed reading it to my nursey school and they all found it fasinating and actually sa still for the duration of the book. With fab illustrations and easy to read words this is a musyt read for bed time storys

Fun Bath Book!
My 12-month-old likes this book a lot. It actually has 8 pages, not 1, as the description says. Grover invites you to his tubby, where we can "splash and scrubby dubby." You can bring a toy! Grover's is a boat, "Oh, joy." Now, wash your knees, "cute elbows," and between your toes. Dry off, and... Uh-Oh! It's bedtime!

This story can get a little tiring after about the 6th time, but we parents know about that, already!

Too Big for Bottles is just really Too Little
I ordered this book in hopes that Baby Cookie and Baby Bird could help me convince my 2 year old that he was indeed too big for bottles. I read this book at least once a day (my choice, not my son's) to him, and he paid attention to the story. But he wasn't convinced this book had anything to do with his addiction to the bottle. He just didn't empathize at all. I think he is too young. Some other toddlers may have more empathy, and perhaps this book would work for those particular children.

Plus, this book is not worth the money. It's only like 8 pages or so long. It's very skimpy.

I wouldn't even call it entertaining.

An excellent choice for toddlers
Our 20 month old son can't get enough of this book. "Baby" Cookie Monster drinks his milk from a bottle until he sees Big Bird drinking from a big-boy cup. After a spill ("uh oh"), Cookie learns to drink from the big boy cup as well, (which is actually a standard sippy cup)

An excellent book that has earned a spot in my son's book rotation at his choice.

Great idea, poor construction
My three year old and my 16 month old both love Bear and were excited to get this book! The pieces however are way too flimsy and too difficult to place into the slots in the book. If the book had been constructed a little differently, it would have been far more enjoyable.

Missing Pieces
This is one of my 4-year-old's favorite books, but she stopped reading it when we lost the 5 press-out figures. We don't know how to replace them other than to track down another copy of the book. Also, the storage bin on the last page does not work for the tokens. Great concept, but maybe next time the play pieces could snap on so we don't lose them.

bears book
This is my 22 month olds favorite book. The only problem is that the play pieces are to thin, causing them to tear slightly when she plays with them to roughly. They can easily be repaired with tape.
