Very sweet book
This book is a great bedtime book. It follows Grover's bedtime ritual and makes it easier to wind a wild one down. It's also short enough so that reading it repeatedly is not a problem.

Cute book for toddlers
My daughter, who loves Sesame Street, really enjoys this book. She is not yet able to read herself, but she enjoys the colorful pictures on each page. I think that this will be a good book for her to read when she starts reading on her own due to the small length of the book and the short sentences on each page. The book is a hardback, however it is not the most sturdy hardback we have and appears that it would fold and possibly rip if you have a child who is hard on books.

Good Public Education Tool
I volunteer in public education for a large fire department. This is truly the best book I have found on the fire department geared towards younger children. This book thoroughly and accurately covers the fire department and the equipment used. The story is easy for children to follow, and is well illustrated. There is even a public safety message at the end, encouraging kids to be fire safe.

Well written, good story, not strong on fire safety
I am a professional firefighter. This book does a good job of explaining what firefighters do. It doesn't address fire safety. A good book for children. I read this one to groups of children.

Sesame Street
This book is cute for the young readers. It illustrates Big Bird copying everything that his friends do, like Ernie, Grover,Cookie Monster, and others. At the end of the book, it even gives the reader a idea of how they can copy themselves when they are alone, by looking in the mirror. If your child likes Sesame Street they will like having this book to look at.

Colors and Shapes Sesame Street
Sesame Street has been around a long time. All of there

books are nice. Colotrs and Shapes though is most educational

because it teaches children hoow to identify different shapes

and colors while they are having fun. Some books just say color

green shape circle but not this book. It has games for kids to

play in it and alot of other fun things for them to learn

about. That is why Shapes and Colors is a very good book for

kids just learning their shapes and colors.

Just in time
This book helped my daughter let go of her favorite rag doll long enough for me to wash it. She didn't want me to put in the washing machine, but with the help of this book she learned that she would get it back.

Grover Goes to School
I reccomend Dan Elliot's children's book, Grover Goes to School, to kids as well as adults who enjoy a light-hearted story with an Aseop's Fables type of moral interwoven into the plot. This story teaches children the valuable lesson of knowing the fine line between kindess and being taken advantage of. Comical, yet serious, it's an overall excellent book!

Overall a Great Grover-Filled Addition to This Series!
As I've stated in several other reviews, I used to read this series of books to my much-younger adopted sisters back when they were first in print in the 80s and early 90s. Now that I have a child of my own I have been re-collecting these books to read to him.

The focus of this book is -- yep you guessed it -- Grover's new jacket, sent to him as a gift (is it his birthday? hmmm guess we will never know) by his grandma. Grover is the envy of Sesame Street in his vintage 1980s Members-Only style red jacket, and wears it everywhere to bring him luck at school, playing jacks, etc. He wins the part of the prince in his class's school play and while he works hard to practice his lines, he knows his jacket will bring him the luck he needs to do the part well. That is of course until he loses it backstage right as the show starts, almost has a complete nervous breakdown, and wants to quit the show right then and there. After a pep talk from the ever-supportive Mr. Lester, Grover goes on and does the part beautifully, even without his jacket -- which he is happily reunited with at the end of the book.

Hautzig does a good job with this book, centering the story on the common young childhood drama of a favorite/lucky object and being parted with it, and having to deal with being without it. Chartier's artwork is nicely done and supports the story well. The book is one of the better ones in the series and a worthy addition to your Sesame Street book collection.

Discussing Death and Dying with Children
I highly recommend this book to all parents and teachers who wish to talk with their young children about death and dying, especially if someone close to the child has a terminal illness. Big Bird goes through the same emotions and questions that we, especially children, may have after someone close to us dies, so it opens up wonderful dialogue for the children to express their feelings. The book's front and back cover also explains how this book can be used to discuss these issues with children of all ages. I read this book to a three-year-old in my preschool and found that it was able to bring memories of my late father to me.
