A perfect introduction!
My son was showing some of the signs that he might be ready for his own potty, so I bought this book to introduce the basics. I was really impressed. It explains how babies wear diapers, but when they grow up, they use a potty. It also illustrates important points like not using too much toilet paper and washing your hands afterwards. It's a simple story, so it doesn't go into a lot of detail. There's no discussion of "poo-poo" or "pee-pee." It just uses the generic term "having to go." But I don't think that's a bad thing. This book isn't meant to be the only training tool you use. I think it's a great introduction to potty training. And my son can't get enough of it. He wants to read it over and over. You'll have it memorized within a week.

Adorable photograph/cardboard book for potty training
This book offers colorful photographs, (not illustrations), of Sesame Street's Ernie and Bert in their baby-version form. The baby Muppets are simply adorable. The pages are made of cardboard, which is great for small children. The storyline covers the complete potty routine, including wiping and washing hands!

Big help
My 2-1/2 year old son loved this book. It arrived on day 3 of our potty training effort, and it really seemed to motivate him to poop on the potty, which he had been fearful of, although he had been great at going pee pee on the potty and was already staying dry all day. This book and the one called "The Potty Book for boys" are both very good, I thought, in that regard. (I have two other potty books, but I can't remember their names. One has a noise button that makes flushing sounds.) I agree with those who say the wording is fine about having to "go" etc. without specific words - - but, let me say further that, "Hello, parents! Unless your potty "trainee" can actually read the words in the book, or unless you have so many different readers of it that you can't enforce the reading of a consistent version of it, you can MAKE UP, skip or substitute whatever words you want![.]!" I have changed "pee" to "pee pee" or added discussion of "poop" instead of just "going potty" in this book and others. Just make it consistent every time you read it, or they'll figure that out very quickly. Repetition is key. Good luck, potty trainers. FYI - - we are on day 8 now, and he is making all pee pee and all poops in the potty (the big toilet actually with a toilet ring), except we do still put him in his diaper for afternoon nap and nighttime.

COOKIE MONSTER AND THE COOKIE TREE
I thought it was a well written book for children of all ages. A good use of child sentence use and phrases.

Talk about learning to share!
This is one fun book, especially if you take on the character's voices. I read it so many times to my children when they were little, that after the book got destroyed, I was still able to quote it almost word-for-word! Time has dulled my memory, so wanted another book to refresh it. It's a delightful Sesame Street Book!

Love it! Luuuvvv it!
This book was hilarious. My daughter could not wait for me to get to the next page so that she could see what was going to happen next. It's even more fun when you do the actual voices of the characters (you have to be a fan of Sesame Street to pull this off). The book is also a teaching tool for sharing. It makes reading fun, and now my daughter can read it to me, word for word!

GREAT BOOK FOR TODDLERS AND LIGHTED MOON KIDS REALLY LOVE.
This book is great for toddlers. Nice pictures and easy to handle board pages makes it a great book for young readers. The lighted moon keeps their interest and even makes a great book to take to bed. Your little one is sure to enjoy this.

Toddlers will love going to bed with this story
I started reading this book to my daughter about 1 month ago and she loves it, when I tell her it is time for night night she goes in her room and gets this book and she sits in my lap and after we read it she gets and bed and goes right to sleep and if we go somewhere and she needs a nap and we don't have it then she puts up a fight for her nap. I gave this a book a five star rating because it is short and toddlers understand it especially if they like elmo.

great for toddlers
My two-year old som loves this book, I think because he can really relate to the subject (sharing trucks and other toys). He seems to actually follow the plot!

My baby loves it!
I have a 9 month old daughter who squeals with delight when we read this. It has lots of sound words (like Whee and Clank) in it. We have checked it out of the library for months straight and now we are buying it.

Not Dan Elliott's Best In This Series But Still Good
As I've stated in several other reviews, I used to read this series of books to my much-younger adopted sisters back when they were first in print in the 80s and early 90s. Now that I have a child of my own I have been re-collecting these books to read to him.

TWO WHEELS FOR GROVER centers on Grover's trip to see his cousins in the country (and from the artwork it looks like they had a VERY long drive to get there). Cousin Rosie wants to go bike riding with Grover but since Grover can't ride a two wheeler, he hems and haws every time she asks, making excuses and sadly watching her ride away. Cousin Frank astutely sees through this charade at a later point and offers to teach him how to ride a bike. Grover is of course terrified but gets it, and masters the skill just in time to follow Rosie to Farmer Finn's to get a free kitten.

The artwork is only okay in this book -- could someone explain to me by the way why every character in this book wears clothing except for Grover? -- and the story is good albiet kind of predictable. The one gripe I have with the book as a parent is Grover's getting a kitten without consulting his mother and then bringing it home with him without telling her. There is no mention of this in the book of course, and his mother does not say anything about it, but I for one don't think it is a terrific idea to be presenting this kind of thing as normal and something that happens regularly without consequences. But this is a minor quibble.

Overall this book is good but far from Elliott's -- the strongest writer in this series -- best work. Check out Grover Goes to School for the best he has to offer.

This is the best book in the whole entire world!!!!!
Two Wheels for Grover is the best book in all time. Our Dad reads it to us every single night. We love it and are 14, 11, and 7. Hooray for Two Wheels for Grover!!!

Mother of two toddlers
I bought this book a year ago and finished 2 Sesame Street quilts for my children for Christmas. The book gives a lot of great ideas. I did not use all of the templates that were provided but purchased a kite that had better scale characters to recreate. The stories about the quilts the author made are fun.

Sweet stories, cute quilts
Who wouldn't love Kermit and Miss Piggy? But the real surprise was the charming quilts and the stories that went with them. Not only does this book have simple designs that you can use, it is filled with a series of quilts that the staff of the Henson company has made over the years. They are not quilters, but they are certainly artists who know their way around a needle. They have creatively mixed traditional blocks with Muppet blocks for a series of Friendship quilts that will open your eyes to the possibilities in that traditional form. Even if you have no children, you will enjoy looking through these pages.

Perfect for Quilting Moms
The quilt blocks in this book are so much fun to make! Experienced quilters can use many different types of fabric to give the quilt dimension, but one-dimensional fabrics work well too. The instructions on applique could have been a bit more detailed, but they are probably enough for firt-time applique'ers. 15 blocks to choose from allows you to make a project of any size.

Good kids book
This is not "The Works" (10 stars**********) but a cute kids book. Hope to see more books published on Jim Henson and his works, past, present and future.

A cute little book...
A great little book for kids about one of my heroes, Jim Henson. I, an adult, read it because it is one of the few Jim Henson biographies available...where is a full scale adult biography of one of the most important entertainers of our time? This is a sweet little book that the kids will enjoy. And maybe a few adults too...

Wonderful introduction for kids to the world of Jim Henson
A great way for kids to experience the magic that is Henson. Jim Henson has had many books written about him, but this one is the best way to introduce kids to the man behind the Muppets.

Big Bird's Color Game
Great Book !! I use this book in an educational setting. Very colorful, children love the pictures. Very easy to expand upon with different ages! Lends itself very easily to reviewing different skills - identifying colors, object use/function, object characteristics.

Fun and informative
Big Bird describes a different object on each page and asks readers to guess what he is referring to.

My toddler loves this book, not only for the colors, but also because it's fun to identify the other pictures on each page.

If your child is a Big Bird fan and you'd like to teach him/her about colors in a fun way, try this book!

not very good for under 3s
It is very cute, but jumping rope, skating, swimming, diving, washing dishes at the sink, cooking an egg, etc are some of the things that ernie and bert are shown to be doing and it is just NOT appropriate to ask an under 3 -- can you? any of those questions, since they tend to take them literally. my son is 16 months old and doesn't get that he can't, so, i don't know when he will get the concept that he can "pretend" to do these things, so you might want to wait until they understand "pretend".

A cute little Ernie and Bert Book
This is an adorable little sesame street book. It is a very small size, but this is just perfect for my toddler. It is really well done with little rhymes on every other page. The pictures are adorable. The child can relate to what the book is saying by seeing the pictures. An all around nice book to add to your sesame street collection.

Potty routine not addressed completely
The drawback of this book is that the potty routine ("going", wiping and washing hands) isn't covered. "Little Grover" simply "goes" and, then, his mother helps him dress up. It sends children the message that they must first "find Mommy" before going to the bathroom. Ultimately, the book fosters dependence rather than self-reliance. The illustrations of the Baby Muppets, (compared to comparable Sesame Street photograph books), aren't very good either. Lastly, though the pages are described as "super-sturdy", they bend and break easily.

Great for potty training, great mom/son bonding book
Not only did it help to speed up the toilet training process it's also a great bonding book for moms and sons. At the end of the book, Grover-mom tells Grover-son what a big boy he is and how proud she is that he goes all by himself. Well, my son just loves that part and when we get to that page, I repeat the same words to him and substitute his name for Grover. He has been going potty for several months now but still likes to read this book.

The kids love it
My son asks me to read this over-and-over. It's a good story about taking a potty break when you are playing.
