Lovely Book
I, too, checked this out of the library and tried the gingerbread recipe. Made it for the second time today for a family dinner and everyone raved about it. It is a lovely book full of comments about each recipe and wonderful illustrations. My 9 year old loved looking at it too. Can't wait to try more recipes...a good variety with old-fashioned sensibility.

Disappointed to find this is out of print!
I checked this book out of my local library and enjoyed it so much (Laura's gingerbread recipe is especially good) that I wanted to purchase a copy for my personal cookbook collection. I hope it is reprinted soon! Different from "The Little House Cookbook" in that these are not necessarily recipes from Laura's "Little House" books, but rather recipes from her personal cookbook she complied as an adult living in Mansfield, MO. This book is illustrated with beautiful color photos of Laura and Almanzo's home in Missouri (inside and out) and would be a great addition to my cookbook collection. The recipes themselves have a simple, country flair and appear to be easy to prepare (only tried a few but I do love to read cookbooks!)

Easy to learn and give you much are the book's merits.
This book teaches us a lot of methods in multivariate data analysis and the use of a model-building paradigm makes it easy to learn multivariate data analysis

A must for anyone doing advanced level statistics!
A very informative and useful handbook for both practitioners and students. Each section provides a glossary, the statistic's theoretical assumptions, a step-by-step outline, a sample article that uses the statistics, and most importantly, the command code for SPSS and SAS. A must for anyone doing advanced level statistics!

The flood and how it happened.
This is a very unique book, that for the first time puts forth a new theory on how a recent global flood as described in the Bible may have occurred, that is both plausible and scientifically sound. The author treats Noah's flood as a scientific mystery story which he then proceeds to solve by examining the clues found in the geological record and human history, building a theory that is in harmony with the biblical record of an earth wide deluge and with what we know about the geology of the earth. In this detailed and well referenced book, common objections to the biblical deluge are examined and answers are found that satisfy both a literal interpretation of scripture and a scientific examination of the facts. This book is compelling as the author proves what many have come to view as mere myth, is actually a historical event well supported by scientific evidence. The author also presents the results of his research on detecting recently deposited micro marine fossils left by the flood in soil samples. Presenting solid Paleoclimatological evidence of the deluge, this book may require rewriting many currently used textbooks. Sure to be considered very controversial, this is a must read for any one interested in geology or the biblical deluge. Written for the general public and the more geologically inclined as well, this book is a seamless merging of a literal reading of Genesis with what geology knows about the earth. 305 pages, 20 B&W illustrations, index.

Best available book on how the Flood happened.
This book really does solve the mystery of the flood. It is basically a geology book that proves the earth has had a recent earth wide flood as described in the Bible.

This book is great....
....because I find so many information about the Trapp Familiy which I don't know. I saw the two german movies from 1956 und 1958 and the american from 1965, and I like all this films.

The pictures make it easy to read.

But there is something, that I don't like. Martina, who died in 1951. Maria Augusta wrote only one and a half sentences about her stepdaughter. Why had she done that ?

Good, that I've read "Yesterday, Today and Forever", so I know the tragedy of Martina's death.

...

Great book
This book is a really great behind-the-scenes type book about the real Von Trapp family. Fans of the movie may not like it as much, because there isn't very much stuff written about the making of the SOM. However, it really gives you a very clear picture of the way the story reall was without detracting from the magic of the movie.

An eye-opening critique of Clementsian ecology
This is an amazing work whose only fault is that it was not published by a larger house. Drury clearly outlines his argument against the commonly held notion of a balance of nature. He finds the idea of ecological communities succeeding to climax a distasteful one, and rightly so. Drury advocates actually thinking about problems rather than hiding behind an orthodoxy that seems to know all the answers.

He realizes that the world is a continually changing, dynamic place with an unpredictable quirkiness. It is not, as is so often assumed, a world where "ecosystems", left to their natural states, will go back to what they "ought" to be. He argues that we should conserve the world because we can, and not because of abstract notions of the intrinsic value of life. We want to save the world because we like critters, and we should fess up to it.

Drury was not a scheming wise-user, as may be inferred from his criticism of the environmentalist movement. He just wanted people to think about what they had learned about ecology in the century since Clements and Forbes.

Think people think!

Excellent book
I found this book to be very interesting. I found references made to my 5th Great Grandfather Samuel Riley and his son Richard Riley. It was very interesting and fasinating reading history on your own ancestors and their ways of life. My cousin found this book fasinating after she read parts of mine, that she went and bought it for herself.
