A special treat for mystery and suspense lovers.
Wonderfully entertaining collection of stories from a talented group of authors and their significant others. My favorites include the ingenious "A Change of Heart" by Jill and John Morgan and the funny and scary "The Hot Hand" by Patricia Wallace and Andrew Estrada.

I have only read about half of it so far, but the stories are original takes on vamps. I especially enjoyed "Scent of Blood" by Booth. Her style is extremely engaging.

You'll never want to put it down, even after it's finished.
This is a great book in the Isaac's Universe series. There are some wild stories of the interaction of humans with the other space-faring races, the other space-faring races with each other, and how all six races interact with non-space-faring races. If you like science fiction, you'll love this book.

Another excellent fantasy compilation
With Greenberg as one of the editors, you can expect nothing less than excellently put together short stories by top and up and coming authors in the genre.

Some readers might be put off by the cover, but it isn't all traditional hack-and-slash heroes - there are Valkyries on a modern fishing vessal, a cat who battles against the dark forces, and other wonderful adventures both serious and tongue-in-cheek. Great for fun, light reading that's a little thought provoking.

interesting and enjoyable
The turning of the tide shows the uprise of the popularity of Shakespere. And rightly so too-it It seemed that for a while, his name was condemned to a fate of "just another white, male, Anglo-Saxon writer". This book has brought a different light to all of the plays that were once forgotten. Even though this book has also been forgotten and reshelved for the new, some libraries still have it, and I really enjoyed some of the offerings. My favorite was the "this is the way it actually happened" scenerio of Hamlet and the possible importance of Yorick. Another great one was the joke of the porn director trying to enlist the brightest stars of Hollywood to try to recapture the "prestige" of Hamlet with Mel Gibson. There is a little mention of Tom Stoppard in it too, which I liked. Recommended!

We need a reprint--BAD!
I know it's out of print, but I gotta recommend this book and its sequel PAY DIRT, collections of Gardner's classic "Bob Zane" stories for the old pulp mag ARGOSY, written in the early thirties. Until the reprint comes, you can usually find these books at your local public library (at least here in the Southwest.)

Gardner truly loved the deserts of Cal, Az and Nevada. His descriptions of them are the best and most evocative I have ever found-- and yes, I HAVE read Edward Abbey's silly, Macho/environmental anti-ranching mantras. Forget that self-important windbag and read these old pulp mysteries instead. I guarantee your time will be better spent!

very good, hard to find though
Bought this book a really long time ago, in fact, I regret to have lost it now. The stories in this anthology were all very interesting and entertaining, I especially like the one written by Poul Anderson on a world similar to ours inhabited by normal people who just happen to be witches, werewolves, vampires and the like. The others aren't as happy as this and will cater to a more blood thirsty and mature audience. The only bad experience I had with this book was that the last few pages of my favorite story got torn out and I never did get to finish it.
