One of the best marketing books i've read! The authors do bridge the knowing-doing gap. Most books focuse on the strategic plan of marketing or on a specific area or buzzword, forgetting the everyday work. This team managed, with excelence to convey a lot of practical knowledge with solid theoretical foundations, this makes this book a pearl that is accessible to those not having solid foundations, minimizing the risk associated with the implementation of apparently linear concepts. For those more experienced, the cristal clarity of the presentation and some of the long forgotten perpectives will be extremely interesting. In a sentene: fit for both the neofit and the tried and tested. Excelent work - 9 points on a 0 to 10 scale.

"Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.)" is one of those classic books on parenting whose message continues to be ahead of its time. "P.E.T. in Action" shows how the P.E.T. model works using examples from actual situations. The book is filled with these examples, as well as description of the listening, confrontation and conflict resolution skills. If you've read P.E.T., this book is a perfect supplement. If you haven't, it's a great place to start. Either way, the information contained within both is priceless. I've read both and am reading the new 30th anniversary edition of P.E.T. at the moment (well, at night, when I'm not in front of the computer.)

This work by two investigative reporters is extremely interesting and well-written. How accurate it is I do not know, but I know thatI found it to be extremely absorbing reading. E.g.: The authors say that Cardinal Benelli had 70 votes and if he had gotten 75 he would have elected Pope. Since Benelli died Oct. 25, 1982, if he had been elected the whole history of this latter part of the 20th century would have been different!

Thomas Lynch is one of the great poets of our time. "Skating with Heather Grace" made me laugh, cry, think about life... and death... and the time in between. Even if you do not like poetry, you will enjoy this book. I have never read a poet more honest and creative than Lynch. Two of my personal favorite poems of the book (I have many) are called "Where it Came From" and "Woman Gardening." This would be an excellent place to start for someone first reading Lynch. It shows how clever he is as well as the great sensitivity he posesses for describing a singular emotional feeling. If at all possible, finish with "Learning Gravity," a brilliant poem (and the longest of the book - most are very short). It's a poem that can only be deeply appreciated when you get to know the author and his style as well as disposition. Don't be upset because he is an undertaker by trade. While that plays heavily in the book it is not the defining aspect of the man and his poems. Very Highly Recommended!!!!!

Este libro hace muchas "revelaciones". A decir no creo que todas sean ciertas pero si al menos un 40% de lo que dice es cierto entonces vale la pena. Hay especulaciones sobre los actos del Mossad: Que el mossad estab intentando reclutar al chofer de la princesa Diana y Dodi Al Fayed el día del accidente en que murieron, que mataron a Robert Maxwell, que tenian grabadas conversaciones comprometedoras de Bill Clinton para evitar que investigara a un topo del Mossad. Además nos cuenta hechos conocidos como el rescate en Entebbe, el robo del MIG iraní y el asesinato de Gerald Bull.
En general, es un libro ameno de leer y haber un alinea especulativa, que de cualquier modo es imposible de comprobar pues ningun gobierno confirmaría lo dicho aquí, asi que no es posible saber hasta que punto es cierto lo aqui dicho.

Pues el libro esta muy bien redactado y los traductores hicieron un buen trabajo.
En lo que toca a la veracidad de lo escrito, solo un ignorante o alguien sin la menor idea de la realidad creeria que los hechos expuestos son completamente ciertos. Mas bien se podria decir que lo que se escribio fueron especulaciones, bien fundadas, si, pero especulaciones al fin. Es sobreentendido que no somos espias buscando claves para infiltrar el Mossad y vamos a usar este libro para lograrlo. Al contrario, lo leemos por placer. Viendolo de esta forma, la lectura es informativa y divertida. Aveces se reira, y aveces se rascara la cabeza, pero al final disfrutara el libro. Lo recomiendo.

Aunque está de más decir que por razones obvias lo más secreto sobre el Mossad está por escribirce.

My parents swear by P.E.T. They used its techniques with me when I was a child. I can't describe how nice it felt to be listened to, treated like an intelligent being, given the freedom to regulate my own behavior, to chose right from wrong and have credit for the outcome of my decisions (or to deal with the consequences). It taught me self-control. And it taught me that I control my behavior based on consideration for others, not because I fear punishment. Now, as an independent adult, that's the self-regulation that keeps me from commiting crimes or cheating others. I don't keep from doing bad things to others because I fear punishment (jail, being fired, etc.), I do it out of consideration for their feelings. I guess if I had to distill PET's message down to its core, it would be: Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you. Now that I'm an adult -- even though I don't have kids -- I've read the book several times and use the 'Gordon Model' with all my relationships. So does my girlfriend. Our relationship is the envy of all our friends. I like this book so much I just replaced my yellowed, dog-eared copy with the new 30th-anniversary edition.

I've used the book as a parent and now as a therapist I recommend it to parents. It's wrtitten clearly, easy to read, and contains timeless strategies for listening and talking to children as well as anyone else in your life. The vernacular is somewhat dated as it was written almost 40 years ago, but the book continues to be a great parenting manual.

This book was a great tool in helping me communicate better with my kids. Using this book in combination with Adele Faber's "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk" and Matt Pasquinilli's "The Child Whisperer," I have developed cammunication lines with my children that I thought only existed on the Cosby Show.

While I liked the book, it was denser and less fun to read than the other two books I mentioned. It was a nice suppliment but in order of ease of reading and ease of implementation, I would suggest you buy "The Child Whisperer" first, then Faber's book, and then this book.

Graham Landrum writes a droll novel of murder and mayhem in a small town, with the DAR ladies in hot pursuit of a ruthless killer. Sprinkled with lots of delicious recipies, you get the feeling that life has an order and cadence despite the horrific events in the story. A wonderful who-dun-it, and a fast-paced read. I enjoyed every minute of it, and wish Graham Landrum was still with us to work his magic again and again.

If you always thought the DAR was for little old ladies, you really should read about them here! If you belong, you'll appreciate this even more.

Read the back of the book first and then start from the beginning! Seeds of Fire has nothing of what it promises to the reader. I was thoroughly dissappointed and am sorry I was taken in by the title. Seeds of Fire took me six months to get through because it was not at all about China and the Attack on America, it was about Tiananmen Square! I give this book a YAWN! Tianamen Square is an interesting subject yet I did not bargain for it. Don't buy it unless you want to know about the assault on China's citizens by it own communist government. VERY SAD!

Thomas documents the role of the Israeli Mossad and LAKAM intelligence agencies in stealing the PROMIS computer software program from Inslaw, Inc., doctoring the program with a backdoor computer microchip, and subsequently employing British media magnate and Mossad asset, Robert Maxwell, to sell the pirated copies to intelligence agencies and commercial banks worldwide, including the Los Alamos National Laboratory and the Communist Chinese CSIS. This operation enabled Israeli and Chinese intelligence to siphon American nuclear secrets from the Los Alamos computers, courtesy of the PROMIS computer software. Establishment Republican figures like Ed Meese and former Texas United States Senator John Tower also play a disturbing role in the PROMIS tragedy, chronicled in detail by Seeds of Fire.

Thomas also provides over 300 pages of eyewitness accounts and original documents pertaining to the events at Tiananmen Square in China in June of 1989, with a disturbing analysis of the compromising character of the political and business relationship of key figures in the American corporate and governmental establishment to the Communist Chinese government. The reader will be amazed at the comprehensive information presented by Seeds of Fire, along with the absence of this information in the mainstream American media up to the present time. It is a must buy-and-read.

Annette Gordon-Reed's book should be required reading in graduate history programs across the country. Not because of its topic, but because it is one of the finest, most careful and critical reading of documentary evidence I've ever encountered. By providing an outstanding example of how professional historians should operate, it also exposes one of the tragic weaknesses of the discipline of History--it has for too long been among the least intellectually rigorous of all the disciplines. The recent publication by the "scholar's commission," sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson Heritage Society is a classic example of the problem. In finding Jefferson "innocent" of the charges, the commission ignores the most powerful arguments put forward in Gordon-Reed's book, and builds its authority mainly on the commission member's own pedigree (mostly aging white scholars from prestigious institutions). While the commission points out the real limitations of the DNA evidence, by ignoring Gordon-Reed's work, it fails to understand what an intelligent, open-minded reader of Gordon-Reed's work will quickly grasp: credible evidence pointing to Thomas Jefferson as the likely father of Sally Heming's children has been around for more than a century, but was until recently blithely dismissed by generations of historians who were prisoners of their own racist, and guild-protecting assumptions. Gordon-Reed raises the bar for serious historical inquiry in this book, and I beleive its importance will outlast the controversy it explores.

The Jeffersons'/Randolphs'/Coolidges' response to stories about their patriarch's relationship with Miss Hemings long had been to say that the Carr brothers actually had fathered the Hemings children. Sally Hemings, the typical account said, had (to borrow an image Gordon-Reed shows a famous historian using) lied about her children's parentage in much the manner that a nag's owner might lie about its being the offspring of a famous thoroughbred. Comes now the DNA evidence to back Gordon-Reed's strong proof that the Carrs were innocent of any such adultery, and the Jefferson family seems to want to blame yet another of its male forebears, Thomas Jefferson's brother. Why do they have such an emotional investment in Thomas's not having had black children? This is one of many interesting questions Gordon-Reed's book prompts one to consider. (For the history of historians' defense of Jefferson against this charge, see the essay by Ayers and French in _Jeffersonian Legacies_, edited by Peter S. Onuf.) Virginius Dabney, who was related to Jefferson on both sides of his family, is the outstanding example of a Jefferson flack in this regard, but there have been others. Kudos to Gordon-Reed for not losing her cool in wading through the insulting, demeaning, degrading things that historians have said about Sally Hemings -- whose personality remains obscure. Even those who detest Gordon-Reed must admit that the appendices to this book, which present the main primary sources regarding this question, are worth the book's price. If you care about Jefferson, race, public "education"/propaganda, or America, buy this book.

Gordon-Reed shows how many prominent historians have discounted evidence of a TJ-Sally liaison simply because it comes from, or is attributed to, African-American sources, while they eagerly rely on equally slim, or even slimmer, evidence from Euro-American sources. She also highlights the expressed reluctance of some "brand-name" Jefferson scholars to ascribe reprehensible conduct to Mr. Jefferson, regardless of evidence that it may have occurred. I read the first (1997) edition of this book, which appeared before the DNA study was released. The new information from the DNA results supports Ms. Gordon-Reed's cautionary proposition that we should not ignore or discard any evidence simply because of its source. I was glad to hear that the DNA results confirmed the long-standing oral tradition that Eston Hemings and his descendants are related to Thomas Jefferson. This new century needs people possessed of the Hemings' steadfast truthfulness.
