The best cookbook I've ever used. My cooking "Bible"
I have used this cookbook extensively for twenty years and it has never failed me. It is the best cookbook I have ever used! Masterton shares with us the recipies used in her inn in Vermont including a wide selection of meats, fish, soups, breads and desserts. The recipies and directions are supurb. When I want to cook a new dish I first look it up in this cookbook before looking anywhere else. It is my cooking "Bible". I try to give it to every friend and new bride so I am always looking for copies.

god dosen't make junk
I read this book to my A.D.H.D. son before bed time tonight and I saw a stiring of compassion and understanding that I have not seen for awhile. I read the library's book and he actually said " I wish I had this book." The ideas in the back and discussion questions where the iceing on the cake. I loved that this book reinforced god as our creator at a level for kids to understand.

Elsie Lee -- another thrill ride with an original premise!
Persis Bradbury is 6 foot tall and blue-eyed who believes she is engaged until her boyfriend dumps her for a blonde model and since she is so tall it's hard to find a guy of the appropriate height and she ends up asking her boss to send her to Madrid to work on a project for the company. She meets a girl on the plane (Doris) and becomes friends and meets Dom Sebastian (the Madrid Partner) and ends up marrying him. There is a mystery involving some lost/stolen artifacts, the war, her Uncle Ted who was a secret resistance fighter, a curse and a prophecy about a "blue-eyed witch from across the waters" who will lift the curse. This is one of my favorite Elsie Lee books and once again she has a very strong female protagonist.

A favorite - One you will read over and over
I love this book with the identity switch, crossed lovers, and well-maintained suspense. Elsie Lee just has a light way with her characters that hooks me. They are fun, talented and always sound like someone you would enjoy meeting.
Great setting (German castle) and convoluted plot (kidnapping, Nazi uprising) that the heroine handles deftly.

Elsie Lee -- Terrific as Usual
It's been a while since I read this book but, as usual, Elsie Lee was writing powerful heroines before this ever became the style. In this particular one the heroine Fran is married to an engineer named John. They are stationed somewhere in the mideast (Lebanon or Saudi Arabia?) and he is involved in an oil contract with some sheik. There is a murder (in the 1st or 2nd chapter) and the man dies in Fran's arms and of course she becomes highly involved in the ensuing mystery. It's all about political intrigue, murder, etc. and life in the foreign encampment along with the person intrigues of the people involved. I love Ms. Lee's strong, women heroines and wish she had written many more books than she has. She does not fail here to create another admirable heroine who is in complete charge of her life and love. A very charming mystery with a slight romance.

Too Much of a Good Thing.....
"Elsie's fairy godmother loved her very much and came by once in a while to see how things were going." She always meant well, but was a bit hard of hearing and sometimes got things wrong. One day she wasn't listening very carefully to Elsie's mama and papa, and that's when all the trouble started. Before anyone could stop her, she'd changed one perfectly nice Elsie into eight noisy Elsies, and then promptly disappeared..... Natalie Babbitt has written a delightful and magical tale that's sure to tickle your funny bone. Her charming and easy to read text is enhanced with expressive illustrations, and youngsters will love watching eight little identical Elsies wreak havoc on their neighbors and village. With its satisfying, happily-ever-after ending that sets everything right again, Elsie Times Eight is a sweet and humorous story that kids 3-7 shouldn't miss.
