I love this book
I love the short and inspirational verses in this book. I met a friend of the author who shared it with me and am glad to see that I can buy a copy of my own. It is one of my favorite books to read and uplift my spirit. It is a wonderful book to buy as a gift or to keep somewhere for everyone to read.

These are some of the wisest verses I have ever read anywhere. They really make you think about life and look at yourself and relationships in a more postive and loving way. She put into words feelings and ideas I have wondered about over the years and helped me see them more clearly.

I just hope she writes MORE! I also love the calligraphy.

A book definitely touched by angels!!!
After the loss of a loved one, this little book assisted me each day by touching my heart and giving me strength. True inspiration is rare these days. This little book will render true inspiration to anyone who reads it. Ricky Kendall - Singer Songwriter, Artist

A quick and easy bedtime read to sleepy young ones
Charmingly written by Elsie Karr Kreischer and featuring the impressive artwork of Claire Brandenburg, Bigger Than A Button is a simple, enjoyable children's picturebook about the hidden treasure of love: "It is greater than the mountains / Prettier than the moon / And stronger than the wind." Warmly illustrated in color and narrated in simple prose, Bigger Than A Button is a perfect picturebook for a quick and easy bedtime read to sleepy young ones.

Great children's book!!!
This book is so special! It is simple in text, with great illustrations for sharing with younger children. It celebrates the heart of the family, and tells a baby how wonderful and special it is. If you're a dog lover, you'll also enjoy the dog illustrations. If you have a newborn and older children, it is fun to read out loud.

Will your deaf/hard-of-hearing child be a future Cue Kid?
This is embarrassing...I'm the only person who's ever written a review for this book even after 4 years & 2 months have past. ...I've ed my e-mail since then. This book covers so much information about Cued Speech. It has stories from zillions of native cuers aka "Cue Kids". The stories speak for themselves. The book makes a fabulous resource to any parent of a deaf/hard-of-hearing child. Consider all of your options, read these countless success stories & choose Cued Speech for your child. If you get the book, you can read about some of my friends. Pages 480-487 is a touching story of one of my close friends. You'll probably relate to the trials, tribulations & sacrafices this family had to undergo to help the education of their child. Pages 602-607 is a cute story written by my friends' husband. Also check out pages 595-597; 626-628, 308-310. Each story is unique & touching & will make you feel better about choosing Cued Speech. I personally would recommend ASL for later use in the child's life. My friend from pages 595-597 advises future Cue Kids to "Embrace the deaf community by learning how to sign, but don't forget your roots, you wouldn't be where you are today without Cued Speech." If you would like more information about Cued Speech search the web for the National Cued Speech Association as well as the Maryland Cued Speech Association. Happy reading & happy cueing! =)

Excellent book to read if you know a deaf child.
The Cued Speech Resource Book for Parents of Deaf Children is an excellent book for anyone to read if you know a deaf child. I had the honor of meeting Dr. Orin Cornett, the Father of Cued Speech and Mary Elise Daisey, the first mother to use Cued Speech with a deaf child. Dr. Cornett is a very intelligent man. Cued Speech is a phenically based hand supplement to speech reading which makes spoken words visible and clear on the lips for deaf cue reader to understand better. Broaden your horizons and learn Cued Speech as well as American Sign Language. The two go hand in hand.

Once encountered, never forgotten!
Any child, and I am now fifty-nine years old, who can recite Andy Spandy's ropeskipping rhyme has me for a friend. This is one of those tales for children that sounds better being told aloud by a good reader. When I was growing up, both my parents loved to read aloud, and my sister and I heard many fine tales before the fireplace, listening to mother or father.
But the lilt of the language as the rope swings round is the unforgettable part:
ANDY SPANDY SUGARDY CANDY
FRENCH ALMOND ROCK!
BREAD AND BUTTER FOR YOUR SUPPER'S
ALL YOUR MOTHER'S GOT!

Don't skip this gem
There may be no better book for reading aloud to pre-teens. Originally one of the stories in Farjeon's "Tales Told Under the Green Umbrella" -- long out of print -- Elsie Piddock Skips in Her Sleep is easily as much fun for the adult reader as for the young listener, and in this case that is saying a great deal. It is actually two consecutive stories (ideal for consecutive nights), one a delightful fantasy of fairies and skipping rope -- just as appealing to boys as to girls, honest -- and the second an adventure, at once enthralling and emotionally satisfying, with an ending that will bring tears of delight to all who hear it.

Excellent study!!!
I am well above the recommended age range, but I have found this to be one of the best Bible studies I've ever done. Thoughtful and insightful, without being "cute" or condescending to its young readers. A serious and enjoyable study for girls who want to grow in their faith. It does help to read the first two of the NEW Elsie books, as excerpts are key to the lessons. The OLD series, while covering essentially the same stories, does so at a different pace and the book numbers don't line up. I can't wait to get the other studies (Millie's and Violet's).

A Wonderful Book for a Girl's Spiritual Life
I have found "Elsie's Life Lessons" a great aid to my spiritual life. This study guide can actually make your life more like Elsie Dinsmore's ... . It focuses on helping you accomplish virtues as listed in Galatians 5:22-23 in the Christian Bible. Be sure to follow the author's advice and go through Elsie's Life Lessons slowly. It will really help you understand the whole point of the lessons you'll be learning in this wonderful book.

A Wonderful Elsie Book
"Elsie's Motherhood" is one of my favorite Elsie books. Elsie is a good mother to her children, and her children are very virtuous and obedient. I think Elsie handles her children's problems very well. I enjoyed reading this book, and it is very well-written for girls of all ages.

I think this is a very well-written book about Elsie.
I love all of the Elsie Dinsmore books, but this is one of my favorites. Elsie Dinsmore Travilla makes a wonderful Christian parent along with her husband Edward. Their children are not perfect, just like all of mankind, and yet they train their children in a godly way. As always, one can see how Elsie puts her faith in God, especially when the Ku Klux Klan attacks their house in the intent to harm her husband, and when her eldest child, Elsie, becomes very sick. Also, she learns to grieve for herself and for others, yet rejoice for those who are Christians and have only gone before to that wonderful place called heaven. I recommend this book to girls and ladies of all ages, mothers, married, and single.

The best so far!
Elsie grows up a lot in this book and her dreams come true.Well. some of them! She still has trouble all aaround her sometimes. I loved the surprises (a wedding - NOT elsie! ) she is getting older and I like that too. I'm a Christian girl too so it helps me to read a book like this. I love old fashion stories but they make sense to me today. Elsie is the BEST!

Great book!
You just fall in love with the main character and want all her dreams to come true! I feel like I am growing up with Elsie because she gets older in each book. I can't wait to read the next book.

Bedside Guide
Something every parent should read. I teach at a University and this book is very helpful at reminding parents what it's like to go off to college for the first time. After reading the book parents usually feel more empowered to help their children. A perfect accompaniment to this book is Major in Success by Patrick Combs. It changes lives.

Excellent overview of important issues
This book gives advice that will save you money, time and heartache. The book has a healthy mix of practical advice and amusing anecdotes. It will broaden your perspective, and allow you to better manage your expectations as you send your child to college

Strength for the Journey
Elsie Larson was to be my instructor, through Long Ridge Writer's Group. My interest in her as an instructor led me to purchase this book. It was life changing because I was struggling with fear. The fear grip, had taken hold and God used this book to set me free. Helping care for someone that was depressed was even harder than I had imagined. I found myself depressed and it smothered by ability to write. Now, that I have been delivered from this evil, thanks to God and Elsie's book; I have prepared to write again. The book specifically focused on the fear of our emotions towards those we care for and those trying to support us. Trying to encourage a depressed person, was as much a challenge as caring for someone maybe with cancer. The struggle is with the mind. I've since, been able to release many frustrations and I'm grateful. What I enjoyed most about the book, was the fact that each writer concluded their passage with a scripture and a special thanks to God. Elsie, if you are reading this comment, I know you were chosen by God to write. Your writing is so inspiring and I'm sorry that I did not have the opportunity to have you as my instructor. Nevertheless, I will always consider you my first instructor, because God used you to give me the courage to go on with my calling. Thanks for the lesson in overcoming fear. Thank you so much! Excellent job!

Earlene

A perfect book to help me start my day as a caregiver.
Each of these authors knows the pain of being a caregiver. As I read, I thought, "I could have written that." It showed exactly how I have felt at different times. It also shows that God is good and He does give me the strength I need to carry on each day.

Wingarden
This is a wonderful story of an intelligent woman and a mystery surrounding a house she inherited. A great who-done-it to the end!

This author should be kept in print!
Anybody who thinks Gothic novels were always about wimpy heroines in flimsy nightgowns... hasn't read an Elsie Lee novel. Her heroines were smart, witty, often even wordly. Chloe Wingate can keep up with any hero. Even when she's frightened, she doesn't wimp out and depend on somebody else to get her out of a jam.

Also, Elsie Lee wasn't afraid to deal with controversial issues. In Wingarden, the heroine unearths violent racial prejudice in the South during the 1960s.
