Solid review
Biochemistry by Balcavage and King covers most topics well and in a fair amount of depth. Good for a motivated student but too long for last minute cramming. I'd love to see an updated version with explanations to the answers. A couple of times, I couldn't find the rationale for an answer within the text. There were also some early references to later chapters such as chapter 41, etc. that did not exist as the book only goes up to chapter 38. Another helpful addition would be outlines and lists to better organize "must-know" material. These are minor criticisms that could be addressed in a new edition. Overall, a solid review of medically oriented biochemistry.

When journalism was a respectable profession
Befroe the time of tabiod news, there was a man who felt that journalism should be taught in college so that the people who entered the field knew what they were doing. From that beginning at the University of Missouri, many other colleges have gone on to teach journalism. But it took the work of one man who believed that journalism was a respeceted profession to make the rest of the world to believe that too. A fascinating read about Walter Williams and how the School of Journalism came to be at one university and changed the way journalist were thought of.

Essential reading for WJW fans
This nice collection features "Prayers on the Wind", WJW's best story to date, and lots more Good Stuff. As always, NESFA books are a pleasure to read & hold: smooth, creamy paper, solid, full-cloth bindings and exceptional cover & interior art, here by Omar Rayyan. Recommended. Comments on some stories:

Broadway Johnny: a "deeply unserious" story of magic and mayhem in 1930s China. "A-"

The Bad Twin (never before published). A rousing time-travel tale with "as many paradoxes as I could devise" -- "A".

Prayers on the Wind (Nebula Award nominee): A+ -- featuring the Big Library, Buddhism & Bad aliens -- not to be missed.

The author's afterwords are interesting and entertaining. Forex, here's WJW on a panel, discussing virtual surgery in graphic detail: "I became aware that the audience was staring at me in horror. I looked to my left, and saw Vernor Vinge scribbling in his notebook. I looked to my right, and there was Bruce Sterling likewise taking notes.... I better write this story [Erogenoscape] *fast*, I said to myself."

Very detailed
This book is an excellent choice for anyone starting from scratch with the German language. It is very precise grammatically and will give a good structural basis. It becomes an excellent reference book. I just wish there were a part II.

Very nice but I didn't find the authors I expected
Instead of Luc Tuymans, Anton Chekhov, Vratislav Effenberger, Milton Hatoum, Andrie Platonov, Victor Pelevin, Rebecca Solnit, I found in this issue of Grand Street (no 64) contributions of David Mamet, Suzan Lori Parks, José Saramago, Tony Smith, Tennesse Williams and Pablo Neruda

Pretty good.
This is a pretty fascinating book, containing the works attributed to Hermes in English as well as the non-translated version, revealing one version on one page and the other version on the next page; Thus, when one reads the book, they find the non-translated version on one page and the English version on the other page, with footnotes and stuff to help out. Overall, a good book, and it gives some understanding of the thinking of the ancient Magickians and other Occultists. Worth getting, overall.

marvelous field guide
It's a hardcover, so not the most comfortable field guide to throw in a backpack, but I don't have any other complaints about this book.

Animal profiles are accompanied by excellent color photographs, basic statistics about each animal (distribution, habitat, abundance, etc.), and a shaded map outlining just where each animal's distribution is. Entries for each animal are detailed enough, but don't seem to go on so long that a person would lose interest.

One more gripe: pictures of the animals feet, so that pawprints could be identified easily, would have been a welcome inclusion here. The Simon and Schuster's Guide To Mammals, by Boitani, is an inexpensive book that includes this feature. It might be a helpful second book to get on the topic.

It's an exciting book for young naturalists, too, who will likely get stirred up just by seeing some of the photos (star-nosed mole, northern flying squirrel, big brown bat, etc.).

Essays on conservation, the region, and tips on observation precede the main body of the book. The essays are short and well-written. They should be helpful to anyone who wants to scout out some mammals in the Carolinas, Virginia, or Maryland.

It's OK.
I'm a college student. I am studying auditing to take an AICPA exam. well, auditing is hard for me to study. I think, in order to understand a structure of auditing, reading a book is important. 'Modern Auditing' is helpful to me. A consistent arrangement of context, detailed indexes, lots of figures.... I'd like to recommend 'Modern Auditing'.

Radiographic Atlas of Skeletal Development of the Hand and Wrist
Published in Hardcover by Stanford Univ Pr (1959)
Authors: William Walter Greulich and S. Idell Pyle
Amazon base price: $125.00
Average review score:

Bone Age - The definitive reference
This is the definative reference text for assesing the skeletal age of children. The text consists of plain films of the hand and wrist of male and female standards over time. By comparing a radiograph of your patient with the standards, you deterrmine the skeletal age of the child.

The paper in this printing is flat, rather than the glossy paper in older printings I was used to from training(just as in the recent Keats). Otherwise this book is your old friend.
