Excellent approach to problem solving skills.
This book goes beyond the typical math textbook. Its approach to problem solving and the techniques to accomplish the solutions is a valuable tool in preparing students for problem solving. With this book, students will get a better grasp of how to think about mathematics.

Good book.
This, along with Reichman's book, is one of the primary texts on soaring. It can be a little stuffy and academic at times (the authors are British, after all), but it's got lots of good technical stuff you'll have a tough time finding anywhere else. It's section on variometers and total energy compensation, for example, is the best I've seen (although it is a bit dated and doesn't cover modern electric instruments). Some color photos or illustrations would sure liven it up.

Very interesting material. Unique among the books on Frank.
A few rare Frank images are reproduced, but this book is mainly a collection of documents and writings by or about Frank. This is the only source for much of this material: letters from a young Robert Frank to his parents about New York, for example; a facsimile of Frank's Guggenheim application; a police report made during Frank's trip across America; writing by Kerouac about a trip made with Frank to Florida. I recommend this book to any person interested in Robert Frank and already familiar with his work. Nevertheless, the few images here reproduced stand out like flowers.

An Abomination!
I have seen some wretched books on the market in my day, but nothing, absolutely nothing, is as offensive and as crass as this. First of all, psychoanalysis is not a science, which makes these authors' approach to Anne Frank and Etty Hillesum's respective ordeals cheap enough, but even with that, it's an abomination to put two women who were victims of the Holocaust under such horrific, over-analyzed scrutiny. As Richard Nixon once said, "I don't mind when people put me under a microscope, but when they use a proctoscope, that's going too far." Indeed! This book is so bad it's unbelievable.
A landmark!
Denise de Costa has written a valuable and extraordinarily
intelligent interpretation of Anne Frank the individual behind the writer, as she presented herself in her original diaries and then in the revised manuscript she prepared in hiding. Reading between these texts de Costa's insights are dazzling, critical and thought provoking: she examines Anne's motivation to write, her growing dependency on the diary, her unfolding maturity and her troubled relationship with her mother. This is a compelling book and a major contribution to our understanding of Anne Frank.

Who Would Unbraid Her Hair : the Legend of Annie Mae

A year later....a different thought
My last critique of this book looks harsh to me now. While it is true that this isn't a who done it, it does raise awareness. The only words I still agree with from my last review after a year of contemplation is.....The (only-NOT ONLY) good thing I find about this book is that it does get Anna Mae's name out and about and on people's minds. The book is not a who done it. -- The writing style no longer seems to be so crystal mystic'y', it has a flow of its own. I recommend this book as a source of background information regarding some of the details surrounding the life of Annie Mae. Jennifer
This book is her hands.
This book begins with a five page list of AIM casualites that occured on Pine Ridge Reservation between the years of 1973-1976. As the author points out, these are "documented homicides"-the actual number could be as high as 300 or more. One of the documented homicides is Annie Mae Pictou, a 30 year old AIM leader and mother of 2 small daughters. Claypoole's book is a passionate investigation of her life in the various genres of poetry, journalistic writing, and interviews of people who knew Annie Mae, but are reluctant (to this day) to speak any truth regarding her life, and death...she was found in a ravine on the edge of Pine Ridge Res, February 24, 1975 with a bullet wound in the base of her skull. As part of the autopsy, her hands were severed at the wrist and sent to Washington, D.C...she was then buried as "Jane Doe", cause of death listed as "exposure".Urged by Canadian family members, the body was later exhumed, revealing the execution-style death, and identified as Anna Mae Pictou...in the words of Anna Mae Pictou: "I am a part of this creation as you are, no more and no less than each of you within the sound of my voice. I have a right to continue my cycle in this Universe undisturbed." This book speaks for Anna Mae Pictou's fierce desire to exist with the dignity of a free human being among other free human beings. THIS BOOK IS HER HANDS.
Tom Fish Gives 2 Thumbs Up
This book is filled with passion and insight; they ooze from thepages....Knowing the author and knowing the book, I can state that there is honesty in each line. Integrity in each concept. Read the book. Experience the heart.

The Diary Of Anne Frank, The Play
I am writng this review to persuade you to read the Play "The Diary Of Anne Frank." This book is very interesting. You also can learn a lot from this play.
To me I think I could have done everthing Anne did because I am a very confident person. The things Anne did weren't easy to do. So u have to read this book I guarantee you will learn something!!!

"Anne frank a strong little girl with big problems".
I'm trying to persuade you to read this book because it tells you how the Jewish people including Anne had to hide when the "Nazi's, and Hitler" were coming. Also I think you should read it because it has a lot of historical moments, like the Halocuast which means "burnt hole".
I could have done everything Anne did because she could argue but I do not like the way Anne argued with her mother. Anne had a thing that she always wanted and that was her diary when she got it she was happy. The only hard thing that Anne did that I could not do was adjust to having another family live in a little house.
The Diary of Anne Frank (the play): Beautiful and Inspiring
Anyone who hates this play has no soul. Anne Frank's poignant - AND ABSOLUTELY TRUE - tale serves not only as a tragic tribute to the horrors of the holocaust, but also as a testament to the heroics of an ordinary heart in the midst of unfathomable injustice. Anne Frank's hope and bravery are beautifully memorialized in these pages; this is something everyone should read. Those who shirk from the play simply because they wish to shield their naive minds from such an unpleasant subject (and a decidedly unhappy ending) do themselves and the rest of humanity a great disservice, for if we do push this book to the back of our minds and our libraries, we lose its message, we lose whatever chance we may've had to reexamine our world through the eyes of Anne Frank and lighten the darkness of man's heart with her courage. To read this play is to become enlightened and to be inspired, and with all the animosity and intolerance in our world today, we could all use a little more of Anne's spirit of acceptance.

The Diary of Anne Frank (Teachers Guide)
This is an 8-page teachers guide which gives ideas for activities associated with using the actual book. As such, it would be useful. But if you're looking for the actual diary, keep looking.
The book was good.
I liked how Anne Frank went into hiding and learned to coperate ith people she didn't like. I tell about how horrible the Nazis were and it was very emotional. Overall the book was good, but it wasn't the best. I would read it again, If I had the chance.

Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl
I thought of this book as an o.k. book. It was a little disturbing during the book as she was seeing the natsees taking jews away from their homes. But there were some joyful parts like as she was saying her dreams, and what she wants to own. The saddest part is the afterward. Nothing is very sepcial except for the fact that it is a true story. It wasn't a turn pager, and it didn't interest me a whole lot. I give it between a 6 to a 7 out of ten.

Thouroughly Unimpresses
I have to say tha I was thoroughly unimpressed with this play. The author seems to be using the same characters that we all know and love, but most of them seem out of character. It's also a musical so every once in a while the characters burst out in song. This can be anoying; especially when you consider the fact that there is on music written for it. The authors tell people to write their own simple music. This is a disaster waiting to happen! The redeeming quality of the book is the other "helps" that are included in it. They are very good and in depth dispite how short they are. Overall, I do not recommend this purchase

Book is a Hoax
It is a shame that someone would sacrifice a tree to write this book. Not only was the scholarship seriously lacking. The author ignored all evidence that did not fit into his conspiracy theory. It's no surprise that this book is out of print.
Sorry I had to give it one star. There is no category on this form for zero.
Nothing stays a secret forever
An excellent book written by a brave and fearless jewish author, who has the guts to reveal what many historians have known for a long time, and that is the so-called "Diary Of Anne Frank" is a monumental hoax written by her father for financial gain and holocaust propaganda purposes. This should be an eye-opener for those still believing the gas chamber fables, babies boiled down into soap, six million jews gassed, and human-skin lamp shades fairy tales. I would give the book ten stars if possible. Just to set the record straight, the ADL and their fellow tribesmen absolutely refuse to take part in an open, televised debate on the wild tales of the so-called holocaust, which has reaped them multiple BILLIONS for their Zionist cohorts, even when offered large sums of money to appear. And to think they can brain-wash our kids in school with this tripe. Oh, yes, I know...I'm a nasty "Nazi" or so-called "anti-Semite for refusing to be lobotomized by skilled soothsayers.
Buryed History
I read a friend's copy and feel there are too many LIES about history. It was very factual and a real eye opener. Every LIBRARY should have a copy so people could make up their own minds with ALL THE FACTS ARE ON THE TABLE. The idea of suppressing the truth for ANY REASON, should be a crime. Let the evidence speak and any reader should be able to make up their own minds. Never be afraid of FACTS. I am a retired teacher and have several Degrees, but I will never know enough unless the thrth is available.
I would buy 10 copies if I could.
