Important book for all to read so as to never be repeated...
This book was given as a gift when I was a small child and it made an impact on me even then. The impact was not fully realized until I went to the first concentration camp, Dachau and saw the situation that the prisoners lived with. It was then that I fully understood the risk that Miep took in helping the families in the attic. I believe that everyone should read one of the stories about the inhumanity that occured in this century and hopefully with the knowledge, keep it from happening again. Let us not let these peoples lives have been for nothing.

I WOULD GIVE IT A 25+.
I consider myself very fortunate to personally have Miep's book. Although I am still reading it, I find it very interesting and very informative. Being there herself, Miep personally knew what went on in the hiding place. Knowing what would happen if caught, everybody kept their heads up in faith.

From Girl to Woman (With a Very Special Mentor)
"I received your kind letter and thank you for it. It was very nice of you to send me your photo, so that I have a better impression of you as a person..."

So begins Otto Frank's first letter to a young American girl in 1957, a suburban California girl named Cara as much in the mainstream of American society as the pop songs she listens to on the radio. That girl had read Anne's diary, had been deeply moved by it, and had written to Anne's father.

He wrote back.

Cara wrote to him again. Otto wrote back. She wrote again. He wrote again. And so on and so forth...for decades. They grew close. Cara faced all the same questions we face, about school, love, marriage, child-rearing, politics, family. But she had a very, very special mentor.

This book is her story of that relationship. Yes, it's a remarkable pairing. But it's also a remarkable tour through the last half of the 20th century, through the Civil Rights movement and Vietnam, the Watergate days, too many wars in the Middle East; all reflected in a single woman's coming of age. The letters back and forth are always revealing and quite often gripping. They are about private troubles and public issues. And when Cara, as a woman, goes to visit an ailing Otto, by now an old man, it would take a reader with a hard heart indeed not to feel a lump in the throat, at least. Then, when Otto her a collection of something that takes us, the reader, completely over the edge, in the best possible way.

We recommend this book to anyone, of any age. It is just special.

Dear Cara Offers Inspiration and Shares a Story of Love
Dear Cara is a book about a man and a woman, across the world from one another, both in miles and the lives they lead. Otto Frank, who survived the death camps of the Holocaust but lost his daughter there, shares his hope and inspiration with a young American woman whose life is unfolding. His shares his unfailing human spirit and his love with Cara, a young woman who first wrote to him at the age of 13. Throughout her life, from her teen-age years, to college to marriage to motherhood, Otto Frank is there with her, offering his support and his inspiration. He listens to Cara's dreams, her troubles, her worries and through their correspondence, she feels the joy that a young person feels when someone is listening. A young woman's voice is heard. When, as an older woman, Cara's world is turned upside down, the wisdom and hope that Otto Frank gave her for twenty years, sustains her through her pain and provides her the support she needs to endure and accept, and ultimately, to grow from her own experiences. This book is must-read for young people and for adults who believe, or want to remember, through pain and turmoil, how important and precious hope, and love, is.

Anne Frank
When I first read the story about Anne Frank, I was in 8th grade where every english teacher in my school had chosen to read this story to all of there students. I had no idea of what the story was going to be about and also had no idea who Anne Frank was. But after reading about her life, I had saw how hard it must have been for her.

This year in school we had to choose a book to read and do a book report on it. I had chosen to do Anne Frank because I had already read a little about her but I had wanted to learn more information about her and life for Jewish people during WW2. By reading both of this book it had shown me how hard it was for Jewish people of all ages. They where taken out of there homes and sent to a concentration camp where most of them later died. It puts the whole world to shame because we all knew about this and nothing was getting done early. But finally we were able to help them and save them.

It takes a brave little girl like Anne to be able to write everything down in a diary that was happening in her life. And by Mr. Frank giving Anne's book to be published must had taken a lot of courage also. But in many ways we are glad that he did because Anne had showed us in many ways how tough it was to be Jewish and how hard it was to go into hiding. I would recommend this book for people off all ages because it is a wonderful book, and I know everyone will enjoy reading it.

My first personal encounter with the horrors of world war II
Even though I was born during the war and grew up with the remembrance of it I was untouched by its reaality. When, at the age of 14, I first read Anne Frank's diary it was perhaps the most amazing encounter with the horrors perpetuated on millions but seen through the eyes of one person.

Her little diary gave the world a personal view and meaning to the millions who suffered the same fate. It will continue to be read and lets hope they will be young readers, caught in time to perceive it while their hearts and minds are still impressionable. It simply proves that life is a wonderful mystery. Anne Frank's diary and death were destined to touch the hearts and minds of millions. Her legacy written into history as a trivial, adolescent words scribbled in her little diary to transgress time.

My own question when reading her diary was "who was Hitler?" which brought tears to my mother's eyes. She said, I was told that someday your children will ask ! that question. One great and powerful forgotten, another, a little sparrow, remembered by millions.

I recommend this book to people who are not prejudice because some people did not like jewish people like Adolf .A.Hitler.I think that the people who read it are going to enjoy it because it was alot of fun reading anne franks diary.Because you can see how she sufferd hiding in the secret anex for 3 years .
I liked this book because it was fun reading. Anne franks diary and how her life was back then becuse we were not born yet .It was also alot of fun knowing about her life because you can see she is exprissing her feelingswith her diary named kitty AnneFrank had to hide in the secret annex for a reson. If I fauond Anne Franks diary I would not give it to any body so I could read her secrets .so anne frank sufferd a hard life.

A remarkable diary written by a remarkable girl!
Anne Frank lived a secret life with her family. She had to hide from the Nazis and she wrote her experiences in a diary. This is written for ages 4-8, however I would recommend it for ages 6-8. This story has more complex sentence structure, information boxes an alphabetical glossary and a comprehensive index.

When Otto gave Anne a red and light-green checked notebook with a metal lock, she never imagined the impact she would have on the world by writing her thoughts down. This is in a story format with snippets from the actual diary.

There is a picture of the place Anne hid and a picture of Anne Frank. This book just brings her story to life for young children. When people think of Anne, they think of her courage, her sense of humor and her hopes for the future.

The actual diary was first published in America in 1952 as Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. Anne dreamed of becoming one of the most famous authors in the world. I just wish she had lived to realize her dream.

For me, Anne Frank is symbolic of everything that is right about life and everything that is wrong about war. Thankfully Miep Gies kept Anne's diary which sadly, she had hoped to return to Anne. I think this book will help younger children gain a new appreciation for the lives they have and realize that not all children were as lucky to live the life they live.

Inspirational and sad, all at the same time. I have also reviewed the movie called: The Diary of Anne Frank (1959) which shows the beauty of the her spirit in the midst of an evil and ugly war.

The Warner Collection
This book is a must for anyone interested in American folksongs. It ranks right up there with the Lomax, Beldon, Hunter, and Randolph collections. It may be hard to find, and a bit pricey, but well worth the effort. I'd give it ten stars if the rating would go that high. You will enjoy this collection.

I can't believe what an incredible book this is.
You may go to this book to find out about the Warner's fascinating song-collecting trips begun in western North Carolina in 1938 and lasting into the 1960s, but you'll find an amazing repertoire of songs waiting to be sung.

Tom Dooley is the song Frank Proffitt sang to the Warners long ago. The Kingston Trio heard Frank Warner sing it in the 1950s and made it their signature song. But it is only one of hundreds of songs that the world is waiting to hear.

Read the words of rural America in the voice of Lee Monroe Presnell, Yankee John Galusha or Grammy Fish. These are singers the Lomaxes would have spent a lot of tape on.

The songs themselves would be enough, but this is a book full of Anne Warner's scholarship and thoughtful treatment of her subject. Frank Warner's photographs will take you to a far off place.

Anne Frank
Anne Frank is about a girl who wrote a diary about her life. The main charecters are Anne and her family. The main problems are that they're Jewish and the Germans were prejudice against Jewish people at that time. The Germans were sending them to concentration camps. My favorate character was Anne because she is a really brave girl who writes a diary about her life and her terrible tragedy.

I could relate to Anne Frank because I come from another country where I was born and I also was having security problems there. I think I feel the same things she felt because sometimes I feel fear to be in Colombia, my native country. That's what she also felt.

I liked the book a lot, and I didn't have a favorite part of the book, because I liked the whole book...

I would recommend this book to people because I think it's really interesting and it's a true story. If I had to be someone in the book, I would be Anne because I would like to be recognized as a great writer in history.

This is great! You should read it....
I just finished reading this book yesterday! I thought it was excellent... I'm Jewish so I kind know a lot about what happened during the 1940's and this book had it right. Even the Hebrew (which was in english) was right. Plus, the plot and characters in this seemed so real. I would recommend this to everyone. However it has some bad lanugage and some teen and adult contact. But besides that it was wonderful!

Over 225 black and white photos, many never before published
This resource for fans of Frank's Diary is a photo essay of over 225 black and white photos, many never before published, compiled by the Anne Frank House for a travelling exhibition. Images in the book are dedicated to preserving the history of not only Frank but the Holocaust and how its issues affect contemporary life: images thus are gleaned from the extent of the war and its aftermath and detail not just Frank's life but the experiences of all sides.
