dangerous liasons
I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK. ALTHOUGH I FELT THAT ZILIA WAS A PITYFUL GIRL WHOM NEEDED TO TAKE CONTROL OVER HER SITUATION BUT SHE WAS A GOOD CHARACTER. I THINK SHE HAD A GREAT LIFE IN THE END. THE BOOK IS A QUICK READ AND ENJOYABLE. GREAT TO READ WHILE WATCHING THE MOVIE CRUEL INTENTIONS 1999. HOPE YOU LIKE IT TOO.

Wonderful critique of Enlightenment France
Graffigny has been neglected too long. Her fictional heroine's commentary is as effective a response to the marginalization of women as Olympe de Gouges' "Rights of Women and Citizen". Perhaps more importantly, it's an entertaining narrative of a young girls journey towards independance and her own definition of autonomy.

Wonderful way to interact with your baby!
I ordered both books availible on this topic and found this one to be far more practical and user friendly. The illustrations and discriptions of different techniques are easy for those inexperienced at yoga to follow. I found the sequence on relieving colic to be especially useful for me and my little one. My baby loves our "Yoga time" during the day!

The history of bathing
As a research student at a large Southern California University, I found this book to be invaluable. The rich text and abundant artistic depictions give the reader a sense of understanding the universality of the art of bathing. I found this book to be well written, well illustrated and well documented. Whether your interests are scholarly or leisurely, I'm convinced you too will pat yourself on the back for picking up a copy of this historical gem.

Beautiful photographs, but less about clothes than I expected
This book is full of lush photgraphs of Givenchy's clothes and homes. There is less written about his fashion designs than I hoped there would be. However, if you are interested in his beautiful homes and gardens this is the perfect book.

La Chambre
Published in Paperback by Gallimard (09 October, 2002)
Author: Françoise Chandernagor

Average review score:

About a boy
In La Chambre, Françoise Chandernagor writes a moving tale of an eight-year-old prisoner whose mind and body slowly decay after he is locked away in a 36-square-foot room with neither supervision nor stimulation. This is historical fiction, but Chandernagor hides from us whom she is writing about. I won't spoil her game here.

This is not a happy tale, and I found myself wondering just how Chandernagor was going to keep my interest for 280 pages of a two-year-long death scene without making me suicidal. Through beautiful prose, flashbacks, and creative perspectives, including conversations between the author and ghosts of witnesses, the author succeeds, and I am happy to report that I am still alive.

Chandornagor says that she is writing about more than just one boy. She is instead writing about "everyday evil" ("le mal ordinaire"). She decries inaction and indifference, arguing that while no one person is to blame for this boy's death, everyone is to blame. Yes, "is" to blame, because the same evil of inaction and indifference still exists today. Chandornagor's novel reminds us that "it's not my job" or "why should I care" just don't cut it at any level. It is also an example of how history-making changes can happen too quickly and those in power can be insensitive to the destiny of individuals. But most of all it is the tale of a young boy whose life is destroyed by a people and a government run amok. It a beautiful and touching read. Just don't pick it up when you are already depressed.

Quantum explaned in different language
It is rather quantics, study of matter called "quantic' that shows wave and particle behavior exclusively.Authors introduce new definitions such as Quantics or Phonon not photon. Methodology is quite new. Authors use a lot of "from this it follows" kind of statements so if you are not comfortable with that kind of short cuts, this book is not for you. Examples are numerous from very different areas but some of them beyond introductory level of Quantum Physics. It will help if you finish the book and come back to read the examples. there are good number of problems at the end of each chapter. Overall I like it because it has a different twist in it. Same story told from a different angle. Mathematical formalism in the average.
For me this is not an introductory book into quantum Mechanics, I prefer Reznicks book but i would not miss to read this book either.

-Baby words, great drawings
I love the 4 drawings for the seasons, which are hard to explain to some students. The sun and moon pages are great too. I wish that some of the words less common. Like papa is a bit boring.

Nice to color

Fun pictures!
I use this coloring book with my first grade students. It has a very simple vocabulary which is appropriate for this age level. The pictures to color are in large print and easy to color. I teach a letter of the alphabet each time along with them coloring a picture. The students are learning the vocabulary very easily and enjoying coloring too. This is well worth the cost.

Let's Learn Spanish Coloring Book
This book provides several pictures for each letter of the alphabet. The Spanish word or words are written in bold print. Most of the pictures are large and simple but some of the pictures have small detail which make it difficult for little hands to color. This book is a good supplement for children learning Spanish. However, if you do not speak Spanish it might be difficult to determine from a few of the pictures what the Spanish word means.
