Conspiarcy Theorists Will Love it.

A real life conspiracy that reads better than any fiction.

A brilliant young officer, falsely accussed of treason. A trial with secret documents that have been forged. A true traitor on the loose. And the direct involvement of at lease two governments. A fantastic display of courage when it was least expected. An officer that survives Devil's Island on nothing but courage and a desire to clear his name.

Add a coverup to protect the original court, and a government that aids the conspirators, and it is complete. A fantastic entry into the 20th century.

A must for the medieval & Jewish Historian
The late Isadore Twersky of Harvard, an internationally reknowned scholar and walking repository of countless disciplines of knowledge paved the way for a particularly grand level of scholarship in his Rabad of Posquieres. With a keen sense of language, a broad and sweeping grasp of history, an all encompassing awareness of the medieval mind and the protocols and methodology of its legal writings, Twersky portrays a multifaceted medieval legal thinker and the many tensions in the writings and thought of this pivotal figure of 12th century Provence. Twersky's treatment of Rabad reveals an extraordinary mastery of intellectual history and serves to illuminate through the Rabad, the life and history of the Jews in southern France in the 12th century. The work is a supreme specimen of Twersky's style and multifaceted approach toward the study of religious thinkers. His historic thrust, halakhic focus and analytical methodology are not for the intellectual faint hearted and will require serious and proficient knowledge of Jewish texts, legal sources and medieval history to appreciate the profundity of Twersky's analysis and contribution to Jewish thought and intellectual history. Twersky's work is a must for the Jewish historian, Talmudist, Halakhist and philosopher.

HELPFUL HINTS ON UNDERSTANDING ISRAELIS
This was my first visit to Israel. Along with the assortment of guidebooks we included this slim book that deals with what Israelis do and what you should be aware of when visiting the country. We found it helpful in giving us an "other side" to Israelis. In general, we found that the information given was accurate. It made a useful addition to our more standard guides and is well worth the price.

Offering an unusually insightful perspective
Capably and collaboratively edited by Mauro Bertani and Allesandro Fontana, "Society Must Be Defended" is a collection of French philosopher and historian Michel Foucault's eleven lectures given at the College de France from 1975 to 1976, and which are ably translated into English for an American readership by David Macey. Offering an unusually insightful perspective and wisdom on a wide variety of educational topics ranging from the origin of feudalism, to the functions and domains of racism, to Hobbes' ideas on war and sovereignty, and a great deal more, "Society Must Be Defended" is a very thought-provoking and instructive collection from a uniquely informed and informative point of view. As Michel Foucault writes about this compilation of his views: "The role of history will, then, be to show that laws deceive, that kings wear masks, that power creates illusions, and that historians tell lies. This will not, then, be a history of continuity, but a history of deciphering, the detection of the secret, the outwitting of the ruse, and the reappropriation of a knowledge that has been distorted or buried. It will decipher a truth that has been sealed".

Grandma trying to understand the game!
Dorothy France, a retired minister, wanted to understand the game her grandsons loved but had quite a time coming to grips with common football terms such a "a play clock" which "is not the one to use when teaching a child to tell time"or "tackle is not what a sportsman uses to catch a fish."

To help the novice, the author includes a diagram of a football field as well as a drawing of a player in full football gear. Terms football fanatics take for granted can be quit daunting to one being introduced to the game. This little gem not only explains in simple terms but is quite humorous in the telling!
