A wonderful synthesis of tradition and scholarship.
The New Analytical Study Bible uses the classic KJV text, but inserted are all the changes mandated by modern versions. Therefore a person can have the best of both worlds: The beautiful prose of the KJV with the accuracy of modern textual criticism. The comments and outlines are helpful as well, reflecting neither conservative nor liberal scholarship. The helps are very scholarly and middle-of-the-road theologically.

dICKSON NEW ANALYTICAL STUDY BIBLE
RECEIVED THE bible THAT WE ORDERED AND WAS WELL PLEASED IN THE STUDY bible AND WOULD RECONEND IT TO EVERYONE IT IS A VERY GOOD bible TO STUDY FROM IF YOU WANT TO LEARN THE TRUE WORD OF GOD we were also well pleased with the quick shippment and the money that you saved us thank you very mutch RON& NANCY

Great Study Bible
I would recommend this study Bible for every Christian. It is, along with the Thompson Chain Reference, the best general study Bible on the market. It will help the believer to dig into the Word on their own. It has the best outlines of all the books I have seen. Though I too use some specialty Bibles too many general Study Bibles, i.e the NIV Study, are so crammed with notes the reader can become distracted. The tools available in this edition of the KJV are there to help us think and understand on our own. Get a notebook, a pencil, and a willing heart and let the Spirit use this Bible in your life.

A Great Roadmap for Ethical, Honest Business Dealings
Wait no more for the definitive book on negotiation. Mr. Shapiro has demonstrated that you can be successful in the cut-throat arena of sports representation without compromising your soul. Unlike some other self-proclaimed "super agents" and "Jerry Maguire wannabes", Mr. Shapiro has given this hopeful a ray of encouragement to stay the course and continue practicing the "power of nice".

Great techniques insures life long deal making opportunities
This book provides a geart foundation of how to make not just one-time deals, but deals that will lead to more and more deals down the road. Dispels the notion that negotiation is war and should be treated as such. One should strive for WIN-win in that both sides win but your side gets a little more. Ranks up there with, "Getting to Yes."

I've read many a book on sales and negotiation and The Power of Nice is by far the most informative book I have read to date. It provides ethical; eaisy to understand philosophies and strategies for anyone in sales who wants to build long-term WIN-win relationships with their clients. It's a must read for the beginning as well as seasoned sales professional.

Very entertaining and well received when read out loud!
My daughter received this book as a gift in 1977 when we lived in Louisiana and it has become a tradition to read it every Christmas (even though we left the South long ago). The characters are easy to relate to because we know the originals - and these are so clever. Just brush up on your accent before reading aloud.

Cajun Night= Guaranteed Pleaser of All Ages
This book I used in a Christmas theme when I student taught 3rd grade. They absolutley loved it. Not only was it funny but very very well written and entertaining. In fact, when I came back to visit them a week after I left, they made me read it again. Good spinoff of The Night Before Christmas.

Cajun Night Before Christmas
I have had this book for almost twenty years, and every Christmas my friends beg me to read it to them with my Cajun accent. This is such a FUN book for children and adults, and it is written in the Cajun dialect so that it is easy to have a Cajun accent. I have never met anyone who didn't fall in love with this book! Buy it! You won't be sorry, and it will become a family heirloom for many generations to come.

Amazing account
In his book Mr. Parker tell us how hard was the war in Vietnam through his owm tenure in the US Army. It's a so interesting book that reflects the experiences of a man proud of his country but with a clear idea about the things which went wrong there. For me the most interesting part in this book is when he write about his CIA tour in Laos and Vietnam.

Personal
The subtitle "A personal Account of the Vietnam War," turned out to represent the contents of the book. This book was very different from superhero soldier book.

The author began with his experiences being recruited and trained. He recounted what it felt to first arive in Vietnam, and what his thoughts were during his first encounters with the enemy. Mr. Parker takes us through his experiences until at the end of the book when tells us about the confusion surrounding the end of the war.

In reality, Mr. Parker could be considered a superhero, not for his ability to handle weapons, but for fighting in what he believed was best for Vietnam and for the people.

A true accounting of his time in the military!
Last Man Out: A Personal Account of the Vietnam War by James E. Parker, Jr. is the best book I've read in a long time. If this author didn't have a tape recorder or a diary that he wrote in everyday then I have to say he has a most remarkable memory. James takes the reader back to his home in North Carolina and introduces his family and friends. He continues as he makes the decision to enlist in the Army at a time when others were already doing everything they could to avoid serving their country. The reader goes through Basic Training with James and his buddies at Fort Gordon, Georgia in February 1964. Two months later after being named "Outstanding Trainee" James reiterates some of his time while at his Advanced Infantry Training. You are there when he signs up for Officer Candidate School and while he waited to be selected. You go through that six-month course with him too beginning in November at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon graduation James goes to Jump School. From there the book gets even better. James first Permanent Party duty station was at Fort Riley, Kansas with the 1st Infantry Division. Then through his Tour of Duty in Vietnam. James told about an encounter with General William Westmoreland following a mission. The general flew in to review the troops, present medals and then was gone. It was a mere media event. When the general departed, another officer walked the line and took back the medals. After Nam James next assignment took him to Fort Ord in Monterey, California. He became the Officer-in-Charge of the 6th Army Area Drill Sergeant School. It was a great assignment. BUT James was thinking about leaving the Army but he "felt guilty about forsaking my duty, abandoning my obligation to country at a time of war." Unable to find a job that suited him he applied for and was accepted as a member of the Central Intelligence Agency. By September 1971 James was headed back to Southeast Asia "as a case officer in the Lao program, the CIA's largest covert operation." James was involved with several operations before heading stateside in 1973. He spoke openly about them. By January 1975 James was the only American left in Vi Thanh province. At that point he secured himself a "bodyguard." James wrote of the fall of Ban Me Thout, Hue, Da Nang, and Saigon. He took part in the evacuation of the Vietnamese who worked as agents for the CIA. He spoke of the problems encountered onboard the USS Vancouver and the transfer to the USNS Pioneer Contender. James Parker Jr. wrote an incredible account of his military and civilian service to our country and the people of South Vietnam. It is a book well worth reading. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet the author in person in 1998. AND I'm glad I took the time to read his book. You will be also.

Breath of Fresh Air!
After reading Kate and Jim McMullan's delightful, I STINK, my children and I can't pass a garbage truck without smiling. This totally original book takes us into a whole new world of trash. Readers will relish every word uttered by the tough-talking garbage truck while falling in love with his adorable face. My children begged me to read and re-read the alphabet soup pages--a look at what every garbage truck slurps up in an average day. This is the perfect gift for children of all ages. My family anxiously awaits the next book by this very talented husband and wife (illustrator/author) team.

I Stink doesn't stink!
We think that the book I Stink is an awesome book. It's about a garbage truck, and he says he stinks. It has great illustrations and they are detailed enough that the book is awesome, but not so detailed that you can't read it out loud. Also the garbage truck tells everything that is in his truck in ABCs. This book is colorful, funny, and educational. Little kids would love it. While they would like it, they are also learning their ABCs. The ABCs are things in a garbage truck. Also, the garbage truck talks.

Fabulous Fun
We can't decide what about the book we like the most: the story or the illustrations. The dialogue of the trash truck is so entertaining especially if you put a lot of drama and fun into the way you read each of the pages. The pictures are colorful and whimsical. We review the book at least twice in each sitting and find something new in the illustrations each time. You will love the alphabet soup! This book is fabulous fun each time we read it.

The inner self
"Born to Win " , is a book I read 20 years back , & have kept going back to ever since. It is an insight into the inner self of a person , without a whole lot of technical jargon .Its fun reading, with a whole lot of telling-it-all pictures , stories , anecdotes. It stays simple , which is very difficult when the subject is technical. Its a great gift to a confused teenager, a groping adult, a troubled parent or just about anybody. Make sure you have your own copy .

Classic self-help book still helps
There are a plethora of books in the self help section, and sometimes you don't know which ones are really helpful or not... This book is a classic. It was written in 1971, and unlike many texts of that time, it is still fresh, interesting and relevant. It's written in an easy, jargon free language, which has at its heart a depth and genuine empathic concern for people and their journies.

The techniques they apply are based on the transactional analysis model developed by Eric Berne, but don't worry, you don't have to know any thing about that - the book explains itself beautifully.

The main reason I love it is that it is filled with exercises that you can do by yourself, or share with a partner, about who you are and how you relate to things. It has excellent, simple exercises that open you up to examining childhood influnces, parental attitudes and current behaviour patterns in an illuminating, non-judgemental way.

If you are interested in learning a bit more about yourself, or if you have behaviour patterns that are troubling you and aren't sure where they come from, this is a great place to start.

I've given this book frequently as a gift (adolescents love it!) and I always get lovely feedback. I would definitely recommend this book ahead of a host of others that are out there.

This book changed my life.
I read this book in the mid-1970s when I was a confused mid-twenty something. After reading this book I had the drive and courage to accomplish many goals I had previously thought were only dreams. I have recently decided to give this book to my 18 year old daughter, who is a senior in high school and frightened by the life ahead of her. I hope it works as well for her as it did for me. (If I can get her to read the book with an open and accepting attitude.)

Good book for kids to learn about history
I liked Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt by Deborah Hopkinson. It is a book about a girl who likes to quilt and make things. I like to make things myself. I think it's important to learn how to make things that means something to you or to people. This book also takes place during a time in America's history when there were slaves. I would have given this 5 stars, but it was too short of a book. If you like books about quilts and history, I also recommend Lucy and the Liberty Quilt by Victoria London. It also is about a girl who likes to sew things with meaning.

The Underground Railroad and the quest for freedom
Sweet Clara is taken from her momma and sent to work as a field hand for Home Plantation. The work is hard and Clara dreams of going back to her momma. Lucky for Clara, Aunt Rachel teaches her how to sew, which means being a seamstress at the Big House. There she hears for the first time other slaves talking about the Underground Railroad that can carry them to freedom. But without a map of where to go, runaways fall prey to "paterollers." Then Clara gets the idea that a quilt could serve as a map to freedom once it is completed. Gathering information about the Railroad as she collects scraps of fabric to make her quilt, Clara dreams of the day it will be finished and she can travel the road to freedom with her loved ones.

Deborah Hopkinson's story assumes young readers already know about what slavery meant in the United States in the years before the Civil War. The focus on "Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt" is on the inventiveness and courage of a young girl in helping her people wind their way to freedom. What I like best about James Ransome's paintings are the evocative looks he always captures on Sweet Clara's face, which help tell the story as much as Hopkinson's words. This is an excellent book for young students to learn more about the Underground Railroad and the quest for freedom.

A Story of Freedom
Sweet Clara's aunt teachers her how to sew and she makes a quilt. She and young Jack leave because they were slaves, but you are going to have to find out if they make it to freedom or not. I liked this book. It was very interesting and I learned about history. I think you will like it too.

My Mother's Southern Kitchen: Recipes and Reminiscences

Martha Pearl's Cookbook is super. Period.
Martha Pearl is a spunky wonderful character. More than that, she is a wonderful Southern cook. Her son,James, shares her sense of humor and love of cooking. I adore the way she puts him in his place when he wants to "fuss" with her recipes. I am almost through with the entire cookbook. I have laughed and underlined and referenced. It is a great, wonderful read. Knowing recipes as I do, I can tell you that you can trust this book to give you great food. Don't wait. Don't even put this on your wish list. It's a keeper. Yum

A "must-have" reference guide with charm and personality
James Villas makes no apologies for the simple ingredients that yield such delicious fare as found in this delightful cookbook. He makes it clear that these favorite foods of his childhood -- and adulthood -- depend on high-quality products and correct techniques, as well as the appeal of knowing that generations of his family have enjoyed and refined the same dishes over many years. Both reference guide and a slice of Southern culture (who won't love the inimitable Martha Pearl?), this book has a place in all kitchens. *Among many recommended recipes: Cheese Biscuits (you Southerners know that these are savory little party snacks, not bread), Yellow Squash Souffle, Crab Bisque, Peanut Soup and 1-2-3-4 Cake with Caramel Sauce

Another "must have" Southern cookbook
This is the cookbook I can pull out and count on to produce a wonderful dish every single time. I haven't come across a dud yet. Martha Pearl is delightful (and yes I AM hinting for a dinner invitation) and so are her recipes. The macaroni and cheese is a family favorite that already has stains on the page because I make it so often. The pecan coffee cake is another recipe I have made many times and always get compliments on. I live near Charlotte and keep hoping to run into Jimmy and Martha Pearl picking over the Silver Queen corn at the farmer's market. I would unabashedly tell her what a devoted fan she has made of this transplanted Yankee.

Great Book!
I loved the book and if your thinking about buying it go for it.However if you haven't read Bunnicula and Howliday Inn your really missing out on some great books and you should get those too!

Bunnicula the vampire bunny is on the loose.
Bunnicula is a vampire bunny and he is on the loose. The Monroes, the family who owns Bunnicula, really don't have a clue about his escape. Bunnicula's pals Harold, Chester, and Howie are there to track him down in order to stop disaster. Chester has a theory that if Bunnicula bites the vegetables in everyone's garden they will turn into vampire vegetables and then attack the town. The message to the readers relays that ones mind can jump to many conclusions from the simple to the bazaar. Chester's idea of what may happen is defiantly leaning towards the bazaar. I like Celery Stalks at Midnight because the author told the story using animals which creates a hilarious picture in my mind.I recommend this book to all ages because of the animals and the mysterious happenings.

The Best Bunnicula Book!
This is the best Bunnicula book written. I have read the whole series and this is the best!
