THE FIRE
I was not too happy with this book. It was not as good as FLIGHT 116 IS DOWN. I look for suspence and thrillers. I could not get in to this book. I have not read the other two books in the trilogy. I don't have anything else to say except I didn't really like this book.

The story of modern triumph over evil
Losing Christina: The Fire is the reissue of Caroline B. Cooney's original book The Fire. Why they decided to retitle the three books I have no idea, but the pages are set up just like they were in the original versions, so really the covers just look a little more slick. The Losing Christina trilogy details a year in the life of thirteen-year-old Christina Romney from Burning Fog Isle, who moves onto the mainland of a small town in Maine so that she can continue secondary school. She and three other students board with the Shevvingtons, the school principal and his wife, who delight in destroying the souls of young women. Christina has no choice but to fight the Shevvingtons, which isn't easy when she has no friends and her parents believe the Shevvingtons, not her.

The Fire, as well as its counterparts Fog and Snow, is a chilling story because it presents a child's worst nightmare: for adults to ignore you when you're telling the truth. The Shevvingtons' evil power lies in the fact that they are the adults in charge whom everyone believes, rather than Christina. Their actions will make your blood boil because it is so easy to see how wrong, and how sick, they are, but it is also easy to understand how the townspeople would believe the polished faces they present.

Caroline B. Cooney's gothic horror trilogy is not just about evil, though. Christina experiences all kinds of emotions that most people can relate to: the fear when she has to move away from her family and friends, being nervous about making friends, wanting a boyfriend, facing unfair teachers and assignments. She is a normal, well-drawn thirteen-year-old who unfortunately has to face something that most thirteen-year-olds do not.

As the last book in the trilogy, The Fire ends more hopefully than the first two because the Shevvingtons perish in the fire that they claimed Christina set. It's probably my favorite book of the three because it does end somewhat happily. Christina has learned much about evil in her year at school. She says that it is no good to shield children from evil, that "in another town another thirteen-year-old girl might come face to face with evil for the first time. She should know what to do." It is probably one of the most beautiful lines in the book, and the most truthful.

A Little Danger and Mystery
A Review by Laura
A girl named Christina who lives in Maine and is staying with Mr. And Mrs. Shevvington at Schooner Inn for the school year. The Shevvingtons seem really nice but Christina soon finds out that they aren't nice at all. They try to destroy the lives of teenagers that stay at schooner inn.

This book is very interesting; it had a good story line and way of hiding certain characters real identity. I like the way they expressed Christina's feelings toward other characters. I like that Christina is really strong and doesn't let the shevvingtons get her down or anyone else. Christina didn't really have anyone to turn to when the shevvingtons were trying to "take her down" because all the adults were on the shevvingtons side and some of the kids also. I thought this book was kind of inspiring, because Christina didn't care about what the other kids or adults thought about her. For a while Christina did fall into the shevvingtons plot against her, but she was really strong and didn't let them get to her.

I would recommend this book to people who like to read books with a little danger and mystery. It is easy to fallow and very interesting.

Wonderful Book by Caroline B. Cooney
Christina is a 13 year old girl who has gone to Maine from her homeland island to stay with the evil Shevvington's who manage to take over people's minds. She tries her best to fight back but fails to save Anya's sanity. The Shevvington's have the power to turn her own parents against her and seem innocent the entire time. Christina is the only one who knows and believes that they're evil . This is the first book in the series of three (the other two are The Fire and The Snow).
I personally thought that this was a very suspensful and page turning book. Nowadays it's hard to find books as good as that with out the nonsense. This was honestly one of the best books I have ever read. I know that I'm defenitly going to read the other two, probably multiple times. So, if you want a good read then read The Fog by Caroline B. Cooney.

SUPERIOR BOOK!!!!
If you haven't read this book, I urge you to do so!!! This is the first book of an awesome trilogy that you must read! This is the first Caroline B. Cooney book I read and it got me hooked! Christina is an extremely brave and determined 13 year-old that refuses to give up, even after being wrongly accused of unimaginable things. No one believes her, not even her friends. She's on her own in an intense battle against the Shevington's (teachers at Christina's school and the people taking Christina and her friends in for the school year). The Shevington's are minipulative, so minipulative that even Christina's parents believe their wild accusations!!! The Fog, The Snow, and The Fire is a GREAT trilogy! This book is definately worth your time!!!

What else can be expected?
OK, I'll admit it. I am addicted to Caroline B. Cooney. I have read at least 10 of her other books before this one, and I have loved each and every page of every single one of them. This is no exception.

Fog is the first book in the Losing Christina trilogy. It tells the story of Christina, a thirteen-year-old seventh-grader who is coming off of her Maine island, Burning Fog Isle, to attend school on the mainland. She along with 3 other island natives board on the mainland with the school principal, Mr. Shevvington, and his wife, an English teacher.

Fog tells of Christina's self-proclaimed war with the Shevvingtons. They seem to hate her from the start. And to make things worse, slowly, slowly, slowly...another island boarder, Anya, seems to be losing her mind. And Christina knows who is behind it- the Shevvingtons.

This story is fantastic, page-turning, and, I must warn you, addictive. I finished it in only three or four days, and I loved every minute I spent immersed within its pages. I have not yet read the next two books in the trilogy, Snow and Fire, but they are sitting in my bedroom, awaiting me. I would wholeheartedly reccomend this book, and any of Caroline B. Cooney's others, to anyone wishing for an excellent, suspenseful read!

Did it ever stop burning?
A review by Danielle

Macey Clare and Austin (the main characters) were both in a church fire; after the fire that she was in Macey started to get an obsession with fires and her town. One day at school when Macey was on the internet she found out that there was a fire on Shell Road. Which was where she lived, Macey read about the fire in 1959. She couldn't believe that there was a fire that burned down around a man though no one had ever taken the time to tell her. This fire had to do with her road and being racist. Everyone believed that Macey was getting obsessed about the whole fire. Austin began to look it up too and both pushed their grandparents away all the while.

I really liked Macey as the main character in this book; only because her teenage problems seemed so real. The main plot in this book was very interesting and made me want to keep reading it; never put it down. Despite the fact that some of the sentences were short and kind of a child's book, it was very interesting. During this book the main view switches from Macey to Austin. It gets kind of confusing, though changing the view was a good way to show both Austin's and Macey's opinions. This story probably would have been better if it was longer, and if it said what happened in the future.

Burning Up was a very good book, however I thought that it was going to be a thriller and it wasn't. The author stays on the topic and he doesn't talk about other things. I would definitely recommend this book to others who are interested in Caroline Cooney's stories. It was actually a great book and was very moving in some parts.

Burning Up Is On Fire!!!
Caroline B. Cooney's Burning Up is an awesome mystery/realistic fiction novel for teens! The imaginative plot and theme of this story is one that catches eyes wherever it is read. 15-year old Macey Clare investigates a fire that destroyed an apartment and barn in 1959, for a school history paper. Her family's lived in that same town forever, so she turns to them for information. But everyone she talks to is hiding secrets and telling Macey to choose another topic. This part of the book is an awesome attention-getter that makes you want to read on and solve the mystery. At some times the book can be a tad boring, but later on in the story, you recall valuable clues that were woven in those pages. Ms. Cooney did a terrific job of guiding the reader through the mystery-solving, without giving away the resolution until the end. Suspensful parts of the story keep you turning the pages. I thought that this book was different, and that's why I enjoyed reading it so much. Some of the events in this story leave you shocked and somewhat curious as to find out the cause of them. I reccommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense, mystery, and history. In fact, I gave it to a girl in my class to read, and so far, she finds it very interesting and suspenseful. Way2go, Cooney!

Awesome Book! Must Read!!
Burning Up by Caroline B. Cooney is a very enjoyable book. I could not put it down. This book addressed many issues teenagers face today. Some issues that are talked about are first crushes, unbearable parents, true friendships, and even ethical issues. After reading the book, I realized how the past really does effect the present! What are parents went through when they were younger still has an effect on the world today. I also started to appreciate what I have and the opportunities I am given. The book explored the life of inner-city kids and what they have to go through.
Macey, the main character, is on a mission. For her history project she has to research something that happened in her town?s past. So Macey decides to investigate a fire that burned down a barn in her neighbor hood over forty years ago. While she is dealing with this matter, she runs into many challenges. Not only is being a teenager tough, but it seems as if no one will tell her what really happened. Was it an accident or was it a protest? If this isn?t hard enough, dealing with her first crush, Austin, and trying to do what feels right presents even more obstacles.
The main reason I liked this book was because I could relate to what Macey was feeling. I knew how she felt in different situations because I have been there. I think any teenager would love to read this book. I definitely rate this a five star book!!

The Cheerleader By Caroline B. Cooney
Caroline B. Cooney writes ,in The Cheerleader, a thriller about a girl who would do anything to be popular and when she gets the chance she doesn't want to give it up, but does she?

A lonely junior girl would do anything to be popular like the freshman Celeste. Celeste is pretty, has many friends, and is on the cheerleading squad. She agrees to an evil scam to bring Celeste to a vampire she meets in the tower of her house, so then she can be popular like her. She agrees to bring Celeste to the vampire. What will happen? Althea starts getting weird feelings about what he is going to do to Celeste so she can be popular. Will it work or is it just an evil scam?

What a waste of time!
I hated this book...and I usually love books about natural disasters. Maybe I read too much, but this book is for people who watch fishing(aka, people with no life at all.) First of all, there are too many characters. As one of your reviewers pointed out, the point of view changes too much...and how! There are so many charcters that we don't really get any time to start caring about them all. Just when a tear is going to exit your eyes about one character, the point of view changes and you don't hear about that person for another 20 pages. I like Caroline Cooney's work, I loved Face on the Milk Carton and Driver's Ed(which is one of my favorite books of all time), but she totally embrasses herself with this book. She thought that she could gain more popularity if she changed to more popular subjects like natural disasters, but you can't help but notice that there are too many characters. More than once I asked myself during reading it, "Where's that person I read about before?" They could be burning in the fire for all we know, there's not enough information about what happens to them, but there's too much about their personal lives. I give this book 2 stars because I respect Caroline Cooney and I'll give her another chance, but if she writes another bad book like this, it will be the last straw for me. You know what?..I can't continue with this review anymore, I am going to burn my copy of Flashfire(get it? Flashfire) and dig up my old copy of Driver's Ed somewhere in the closet and remember how good Caroline B Cooney's books once were.

Suspenseful And Page-Turning
If you like books that are suspenseful and page-turning this is definitly the book for you. Caroline B. Cooney is a terrific author. She really gets you caught up in the story. Flash Fire has so much suspense. The book only takes place in about an hour and a half in many diffent places, but most of all at Pinch Canyon , but sure enough, lots of stuff happens that you wouldn't really think would happen because the people keep saying that's not going to happen. I really got into the characters and was able to picture really what was going on in the book.

In the book several major things happen and sometimes you really get mad at some of the characters.(Like I got made at Beau.) You can really feel the intensity. So when Pinch Canyon is on fire, the question still awaits, who can escape from the fire?

Read the book to see if they make it down the mountain...or not? It was definitly a five star rating and one of my favorite books!

A suspenseful cliff hanger
Flash Fire is definately a 5 star rating! Caroline B. Cooney is an excellent suspenseful author. If you like to read and I mean not stop, this is a book for you. At the end of every section there is a cliff hanger which makes you want to go on! We read this for our natural disaster unit in school. We had to read a section a day, but kids couldn't stop at the end of each section and kept reading. (Each section was about 20-30 pages.) I recomend this to teachers who are looking for a great book for novel studies, and kids who love adventures. This a sad and happy book. You see conflicts from two points of view. You meet a whole bunch of characters, each different in their own way! You learn a lot about California and natural disasters. Read this book to find out if the kids can make it down through the huge Pinch Canyon Fire. Do you think they'll make it down?

The Stranger: Romantic?
Oh!! I just finished reading this book today, and I loved it!! It's one of my favorites now. Caroline B. Cooney does such a great job describing everything that you just cannot put it down.

What exactly is this story about? Well, Nicolette is a high school girl. It turns out the the usual chorus she belongs to, The Madrigals, has a new member, Anne Louise. So Anne Louise takes Nicolette's place, and Nicolette decides she wants to take Art Appreciation. In that class she meets a quiet mysterious boy. She is so fascinated by him that she follows him to his house. But does he have a house? She is led right past a dead end sign. What will this mean? Find out in this book. You are garunteed to love it!!!!!!!!!!

A Great Book
I read this book about a month ago. Now I'm doing a project on it to get other people to read it. This book is a book that keeps you awake. I couldn't put the book down. It's a great romance. And it shows that looks are not all for you to fall in love but it's the heart that counts.

The strager
This was a great book, although it was rather confusing at times the plot continued to keep the reader intriuged. The discriptive languge and great charecter discriptions make this a remarkable read. The plot follows a girl, Nicoletta, through a tough time in her life after being kicked out of the madrigals, her singing group. She is forced to take art apreciation and there she meets an incredibly intriguing boy, Jethro. But Nicoletta can't help wonder, what is his secret??

Driver's Ed
In the book Driver's Ed by Caroline B. Cooney, three teens, Remy, Morgan, and Nickie are having the time of their lives. Lark, Remy's best friend, has asked them to take a Thickly Settled street sign. So they did. They also took two more signs, a Morgan Ave. sign, and a stop sign. It is all fun and games till someone got hurt. Seriously hurt. She died. Denise Thompson died in a crash all because of the missing stop sign. She didn't stop and she crashed into a truck. Does one stop sign really make a difference?
Over all the book was fairly good. I did like the realism of the life of a teen: the pressure of friends, crushes, teachers and parents. I didn't like the realism of Denise Thompson death. This book was very different than all the books I ever read. This is a book many people can look at and see how it relates to their life or somebody else's life. It keeps you on edge, and makes you ask questions like. What will they do next? What is going to happen? It is obvious Caroline B. Cooney enjoys writing very real books. If you don't like realistic fiction, or dramatic books, this book isn't for you. If you do like these type of books, try it.

An accident occurs while Remy was learning how to drive.
Remy was so excited to be in high-school and soon she will be able to drive. She has just but the slightest crush on a boy named Morgan who has dreamed about getting his license ever since he can remember. All of the students just think that driver's ed will be a bird course that they can just fly through, but it is not. Driver's ed is the only life or death class in school. You never know, but something could go wrong, and it did for Remy and her friends while just learning how to drive. Remy doesn't know how to deal with the accident and isn't quite sure how to tell her parents. I liked this book because actually, it is similar to my life, such as what it's like in the eyes of a teenager. This book also kept me filled with suspense especially when...well you'll have to read the book to find that out!

Drivers Ed in a twisted way
Three teens Remy, Nicky, and Morgan are your average teens. Grow up around wealthy high class parents who would never think their son or daughter is ever bad. Well this time they all are going to be surpirzed when their children tell them they are partially guilty in the death of a woman. Denise Thompson who was in her twenties with a husband and baby boy was killed from crossing a road and a truck t-boned her. The cause of the accident was from a stop sign being cut down. Remy, Nicky and Morgan are the theives of a the stop sign. Not in their wildest dreams did they ever expect to see on the news that someone died from their actions.
I give this book a 4 because it was a good suspensionful book but the ending was not all that and a bag of chips if you know what I mean. The climax and plot are wonderful and can make anyone relate to a scary memory from the past where you tried to keep a secret and couldn't sleep, because you always thought about it.

Twins...
After being together all their life, Mary Lee and Madrigal's parents decide to split them apart. Mary Lee is sent to boarding school, which she hates. Meanwhile Madrigal is back home having a supposedly wonderful life. When Madrigal comes to visit her, she has an accident which leads Mary Lee to step into her life. Mary Lee finds out that Madrigal was not quite the person she thought she was.

I enjoyed this book a lot! It was my first Cooney book (I've since read others) and I couldn't put it down. I thought it was going to be some kind of supernatural phemnomina story and it wasn't; it stuck closer to real life.

Double The Trouble
Twins is a must read book! It's thrilling from beginning to end. It's about two teenage girls who happen to be identical twins! They're always together which isn't such a great thing. Madrill becomes jealous of her sister Mary Lee and jealously causes her to become evil. Mary Lee knows nothing about Madrill's evil ways and wishes to be her sister. When her wish came true, Mary Lee finds it was a huge mistake. The author is great at making her characters realistic. Their feelings and actions are the same as a real person would have. For example, the way they dealt with their problems is exactly the same as I would have. The suspense was great! I could not put this book down, I was too anxious to find out what was going to happen. It also had a great hook. I just had to read on to find out what this book was about. I recommend everyone should read this book. It is so detailed that I felt like I was there. You really should read it!

Wierd... but good...
This is another good one of Caroline Cooney's. It's a kind of a murder mystery with a love story twisted together. SCENARIO:
Teenager Mary Lee gets sent off to a bording school with no clear reason why. She has always wished for Madrigal's (her sister's) life. She gets her wish... but she soon learns that you should be careful about what you wish for. ...
This is a must-read- you won't be let down!

this book was a disappointment!
STOP IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE MILK CARTON SERIES UP UNTIL THE FOURTH BOOK! IT WILL SPOIL THE BOOKS!

I loved the first three books in the milk carton series and was eagerly anticipating this book. but when i got it, i found it lacked the entertaining theme of the first three. i got bored and had to force myself to read it to the end (in case it all of the sudden got interesting). the ending was ok, but not thrilling like the others. i also see that the character focus of the books has changed. in "the face on the milk carton", it was all about janie and her story, all from her point of view. slowly, the books introduce new characters: the springs and, in this book, stephen's girlfriend. the point of view changes almost every chapter in this book. i feel like it's not really about janie anymore, it's about her situation and the people involved in it. it doesn't feel like a conclusion, and i encourage anybody who has read the series so far not to read this book. "the voice on the radio" was a better ending than this.

what janie finds
This last and final book is the Brilliance of the series! Janie's Father has a stroke and Janie has to do the bills when in her fathers file cabinet she sees a folder with the letter's HJ. That could mean only one thing Hannah Javenson. When Janie finally looks in the folder she finds out the truth. Hannah her kidnapper is living in BOULDER, COLORADO, her father has been sending her money. So then Janie asked her mother if she could go to COLORADO to vist Stephen who is going to college there. Her mother says yes so Reeve and Brain tag along with her to find Hannah. The one thing is that they told Stephen that they wanted to spend the summer with him(well thats a bit wronge). Will she succeed, find out in this conclusion to the series. You wouldn't of guessed what happens.

"What Janie Found"
"What Janie Found" by Carolyn B. Cooney

WARNING: IF YOU HAVE NOT READ "THE FACE ON THE MILK CARTON", "WHATEVER HAPPEND TO JANIE" AND "THE VOICE ON THE RADIO ", THIS BOOK REVIEW COULD GIVE AWAY IMPORTANT HIGHLIGHTS IN THE BOOKS ABOVE. DO NOT READ FARTHER!

Janie Johnson, or shall I say Jenny Spring? Janie, the name that she chooses to keep, finds out that her parents aren't realy her true parents, but they are the only parents that she has ever known. "What Janie Found" is the fourth book in the Janie series. In this book, Janie's curiosity and hatred toward Hannah (her kiddnapper) leads her to try and find Hannah. Her father had fallen into a coma, and Janie had to help with the bills, cleaning up, and other chores. While she searches through the bills, she finds a file labled "HJ". She knew that this simply means one thing: Hannah Johnson. She peers into the folder and finds a check with an address. That's where Hannah is! All this time her father had been supporting Hannah. Janie had thought that Hannah was dead, in a cult somewhere, in a bad situation, but atleast she was out of there lives! One thing: Janie knows something about the place where Hannah is. This is where... this is the place I shall stop, or I will give it all away. Read this book to find out what happends.
