A Wonderful Captivating Story!!!!!
I still remember reading this book 2 years ago and can recall all parts of it. I can say that it is about a girl named Annie in our time who has a mechanic boyfriend of a sort (or so he wishes)---otherwise there is nothing particuarly unordinary about her. Then one day she walks into an old "haunted" house and from here she transfers back 100 years in time and meets a boy called Stratton (who is considered very handsome). Anyway, he is from a family held in high prestige. Here she and Statton recognize each others differences immidiately (hey! Something weird is going on....). So, they get to know each other in the past and Annie makes up a story to stay there. Meanwhile there has been a murder of a maid and someone has been wrongly accused and it is up to Annie to clear the mystery.

The book not only combines a nail-biting suspence story but a blooming romance as well. In the end you will be running immidiately to the book story to buy the second in the series ...It is just that GOOD!(does she risk all and stay in the past or does she go back to the future times and forget---the mechanic is there....) Anyway I HIGHLY recommend this book to ANY young adult reader....It is one of those books that sticks out from the others and is nearly impossible to forget....A definate favorite!!

Both sides of time, a Review
Both Sides of Time Caroline B. Cooney

Annie Lockwood is a hopeless romantic in a year (1995) where romance doesn't mean much. She always thought that she'd find true love if she lived in the 1800's, and not the 1900's. As Annie goes into an old mansion to see her non- romantic boyfriend,Sean, she gets a strange falling sensation. Thinking that it was just drowsiness from the sun, she wakes up to find her self in a fully furnished mansion, and a loud banging noise in the background. To her surprise and delight, she she was falling back in time, to the 1850's being charmed by a young Strat, the son of the owner of the mansion, along with other lively and mysterious characters. But,the tide turns when Annie, or Anna Sophia as she is called, is thought to be a murderer and must chose between her family and Strat. This was an exciting and unpredictable book. You'll start reading it for it's charm and story, and you'll finish it for the lingering mystery unraveled.

"Both Sides of Time" - my favorite book!
I love this book!!! It really is my favorite. I'm in love with the whole time travel concept! There is no dull moment in this book at all. I picked it up expecting just "eh...", but instead, i got "ah"s, "oh"s, *gasp*s, and so many other expressions. I read the book in one sitting, without putting it down!
There are so many emotions in this book, it's as if you're there, and you're feeling everything that they're feeling, right down to the jumping jacks that Annie's stomach must have been doing or the twitches of jealousy that almost every character had. I loved that this book was a teen romance, fantasy, mystery, and suspense story all rolled into one.
The ending of this story was indeed a cliffhanger. After finishing this book, I just had to go out and get the sequels. I really enjoyed the story of the love between the two main characters from two different worlds, 1895 and 1995. The ending is one of those where you could just read it over and over again. It's that interesting! I read the ending about five times! Fantastic story! READ THIS BOOK!!

This book was sooooo good!
Annie Lockwood travels back in time to save the man she loves, Strat.Strat is in an asylum when Annie finds him. In the end,Annie and Strat don't get to be together. I was sooo sad. This book was awesome! Parts of it were a little confusing. Characters popped in and out of the story. They seemed unimportant and sometimes made the book hard to follow. During most of the book, I was on the edge of my seat, eager to read on. I love the way Cooney writes her books and goes into such detail. I totally recommend this book!

The most touching story I've read in a long time!
While I was reading this story, I got completely jealous of Annie. Her romance, her elegant gowns, etc. I rate this story a five star! I couldn't bear to sit down and not have the book in my hands. I just had to finish it! Very captivating, very touching, and very sad! Annie and Strat are just so romantic. This story has a magnificent pace and plot; but I just wished Mrs. Cooney would finish up her "time traveling romance" This is still leaving me cliff hanging. Hmmm.. I'll probably get the next one "Prisoner of Time," too bad it's not about Annie and Strat!

I LOVED IT!!!
This book was FABULOUS!! I just finished reading it and I loved it. This book shows the difference between the customs, beliefs, fashion and role in society that men and women had in the 1890's.That society that excluded women and immigrants from everything thought important just because they thought that they couldn't think, because they were inferior. It shows how they treated them and also shows, in the 1990's, how some of these beliefs of the role of women have continued through the years showing that we are not as advanced in our way of thinking that we thought we were. This book shows how once again Annie and Strat reunite beeting every obstacle that appears in their way. Since the last book I've missed Devonny, Harriet, Tod, Strat and Annie, wondering how their lives continued, until I saw this book. I recommend this book to every reader that is interested in love, excitement, adventure, rivalry but mostly romance. I encourage you also to read the companion of this book, "Both Sides of Time".

Wanted
Wanted is a thriller. It's about a girl who is accused of murdering her own father! Her father had called her about a half-hour before his murder teling her to take his beloved Corvette and drive it to salmon river! She's only 15 and doesn't have her license yet! She drives there and an hour later hears her dad's name on the radio saying that he'd been murdered! Than the description of the Corvette (Which she was in) and panicked called her mom who said that she had a personal testimony from Alice and so Alice just ran ran ran. Her parents had a divorce and her mom had a new boyfriend. All Alice had left of her father were two disks named TWIN! Will Alice prove that she didn't kill her father? I knew right from the start that Alice didn't and so will you but will you find out who did it before they tell you? I gave this five stars because I relly liked the book and it kept me interested. I never wanted to put it down! I think that anyone who has read a Caroline B. Cooney book and liked it will like this book.

Thriller...
"Wanted!" was another great novel by Caroline B. Cooney, and a terrific thriller!

Alice can't believe it when she her dad calls her and tells her to drive his prized Corvette to the "place where they get milk shakes" and to bring his disks labled "TWIN". She doesn't even have her license, but she goes, anyway, confused. Then she hears that her father was murdered, and that her mother received a confession e-mail - from her!

Alice doesn't know what to do, and in a panic, she tries to hide her identity, dodging people searching for her. She gets deeper and deeper into trouble... Who killed her father, and why was she framed?

This was a great book, and I'd recommend it for ages 12 and up. I'd also definitely recommend some other novels of Cooney's, such as "The Face on the Milk Carton" and "Driver's Ed".

Best Book Ever!!!!
Alice Robie has been accused of murdering her father! When her dad calls and tells her in a panicky voice to drive his Corvette (the one he doesn't let ANYONE touch) and meet him at their favorite ice-cream place, she can't believe it! She doesn't even have her license. Alice starts to argue but he hangs up too soon. She drives to the ice-cream shop and waits for several hours, but he never shows up. Then an announcement comes on the radio. "39-year-old Marc Robie was found murdered in his house...Police are looking for his teenage daughter, Alice Robie, for questioning.... Police were called by the murder victim's ex-wife, who received an email from their daughter Alice, confessing that she had killed her father..." Will Alice be found guilty, or will they find the real murderer before he finds Alice?
I liked Wanted because it was very exciting and it kept me on the edge of my seat. I recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries because it is so good and you can never predict what will happen next.

Among Friends
Caroline B. Cooney's Among Friends is about "The Awesome Threesome." Three girls, Jennie, Hillary, and Emily have been friends for life, until high school. There are also three other students that are involved in this bok, Ansley, Jared, and Paul. Jennie excels the others nd her two closest friends get jealous. Soon after "The Awesome Threesome" comes to an end.

I enjoyed reading this book because it is in the diary style. It describes problems between friends and family. This book kept me going and I felt I could not put it down. I recommend this book to anybody who likes to read diaries. Also, people who like reading about their peers would enjoy this book. Among Friends had a lot of turning points in the story. This book often got off the main subject, but it kept me going so I could find out what was going on.

Jennie alwas has to have everything perfect. If she's not perfect, then she wouldn't be the best, the way her parents want her to be. Then there is paul 'Classified', a major topic that the girls talk about. He's a new kid and won't let anybody know anything about him, so that's how he got his nickname 'Classified.' All of the students try to figure him out. The 'supercouple' is Ansley and Jared who have been dating for a long time. Hillary and Eimily are jealous of Jennie, but then realize that they really do need their friendship with her.

This is the first time I have read Caroline B. Cooney. I really enjoy what she does and the influences that she gives young people. For example, when Hillary, Emily, and Jennie go skiing they can feel the tension between themselves but Hillary and Emily put that aside and gives Jennie a chance. I give this book a 4 star rating, for its meaning about friendship. People should read this book if they are having problems with their friends. I am sure it will help me sometime with my friends. I will always remember what all of the girls went through in this time period. Friendship to me means a lot and that is why I like this book so much. I do not think a person could go through life without having friends.

An Admirable Read
Have you ever had a best friend? Jennie, Emily, and Hillary call themselves the Awesome Threesome who had always thought that they would be friends for life. Up until the fall of their junior year in high school, the Awesome Threesome had been best friends since they were little, and never left each other's sides. Ever since entering high school, however, their friendship started to get a little shaky. For Jennie EVERYTHING had to be perfect and she had to be the center of attention all the time, Emily grew jealous of Jennie's accomplishments and perfection but tried to hide it, and Hillary was struggling to keep their friendship together. Among Friends by Caroline B. Cooney, is a fictional book that has a theme stating that sometimes having it all isn't enough. While the disintegration of the Awesome Threesome was beginning, Jennie, Emily, Hillary, "supercouple" Jared and Ansley, and classmate Paul "Classified" questioned their own goals and limitations. Jennie's excellence in everything aggravated Emily and Hillary, ruining their passionate friendship. Everyone either got annoyed or jealous with Jennie, which forced her to lose friends and self-confidence. Jennie's choice to run away worried her "ex-friends." With all the mystery and secrets Paul kept and the running away of Jennie, the friends, in spite of everything, managed to stay close. They all realized they needed each other throughout the roughest times in their lives, which is the exact point the author tried to make. This was a great book to read, especially for my age group. Among Friends makes you realized that one should forfeit important things to make their true friends utterly happy. I give this book 4 stars for it's in depth sensitivity and true meaning of a long-lasting friendships. Teens who are struggling with friendships should read this incredibly enjoyable book to help regain strength in strong companionships

A book Must Read
A book about three girls that once they thought were best friends, but somehow something changed their friendship totally. I think this book is well detailed about how the girls felt while they have to suffered through those hard times. I recommend this book to teenage girls who have friendship problems or just to read to enjoy the book. These three teengage girls in this book suffer through a lot of conflicts, I really like the way how they solved it. Caroline B. Cooney is a really good author to write about teenagers books. She made me think how the story would end up and at the end it ended up in another way. There are a lot of books out there that is good by Caroline, but I recommend you to read this book first then check out her other books. I really like this author and her books. Enjoy your reading!!

One of the best sequals to the first book
Of course after reading "The Face on the Milk Carton" you have to continue reading to find out what happened to Janie. I like this one because it goes into more detail with the Spring family. Which is Janie's real family. You get to go through everyone's feelings, Janie's and her sister and brothers. Of course Janie is completely torn in trying to stay true and fair to the family she only knew and was torn apart to be and live with her family that she was abducted from years ago. She misses everyone her school, best friends, and her boyfriend Reeve. I liked learning more about the Spring family I think because you go through the hell that all of the family members went through when their sister/daughter was abducted years ago from them. And you and Janie wonder what it would be like if it didn't happen at all and if she would be closer to her true family? I've never read a book sequal before and this one was just as good as the first one. Again as in the movie (The Face on the Milk Carton) it was really different. And not all things have a happy ending. But in the end they eventually figure out what to do with Janie and what's best for everyone. You need to get this book to figure out what Janie goes through even more, and to know more about The Spring Family and the hell they went through all those years ago. And of course to find out what their final decisions where. In the long run I was really impressed with this book as a sequal and again I couldn't put it down and neither will you!

A GREAT READ!
I have read an extraordinary book called Whatever Happened to Janie? , by Caroline B.Cooney. I have several reasons why I love this book. For example, when Janie finds her face on a milk carton ,and she finds out why she was kidnapped. She finds out something else about her parents, and she finds out she was kidnapped in a shopping center in New Jersey. Second ,she discovers her name is not Janie Johnson it's Jennie Spring. She would not go by Jennie, but only Janie. Finally, when Janie got tired of staying in New Jersey so she ended up somewhere else. I think you should read The Face on the Milk Carton, the sequel to understand this book. I have found this book fun and exciting to read.

A sad story of difficult choices.
"Whatever Happened to Janie" re-introduces the reader to 15 year old Janie Johnson whose life as the privileged, only child of a well-to-do Connecticut couple was shattered in the book "The Face on the Milk Carton." She discovered that the Johnson's were not her real parents, and that she had been kidnapped from her real family by the Johnson's real daughter, Hannah. Janie learned about why the Johnson's raised her as their daughter, and she learned about her real family, the Springs.

For twelve years the Springs of New Jersey have agonized over the loss of their middle daughter, Jennie. Her disappearance and the uncertainties of her fate have cast a pall on what is otherwise a large, boisterous family. Then after twelves years of worry, Jennie was found- alive and very well. The Springs demand that she come home to her real family.

Janie/Jennie is a total stranger to her real family. How can she adjust to this completly alien enviroment? How can she call Mr. and Mrs. Spring Mom and Dad, when she does not even know them? How can she relate to an older brother and sister who resent that she actually lived better than they did when they had feared her abused, dead, or worse at the hands of her kidnapper? How can she live without her life-long friends and her boyfriend Reeve? But she knows deep-down that she really is Jennie Spring and not Janie Johnson. In the end she must make the choice between the parents who gave birth to her and never gave up the hope of finding her, and the parents who raised her. There is no right choice here because innocent people will be hurt no matter what the decision. A poignant story, deeply reminiscent of Conrad Ricther's classic novel "The Light in the Forest," "Whatever Happened to Janie" makes for stirring reading. It's not perfect, some plotlines are not followed through, some characters underdeveloped, and the character of Reeve is a thumping bore, but it is still an outstanding story on difficult choices.

The Face on the Milk Carton
Suspicion, Curiosity, everything someone would be if you saw yourself on a milk carton. Hi, I'm Nina Minervini from Bak Middle School of the Arts, and the book that I read that I had to tell everyone about is The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B.Cooney. I thought this book was a great book for teenagers. This book is about how a normal teenager girl named Janie and she was living her life, and then one day when she got hot lunch with a milk carton for a drink, she saw herself on the back of the milk carton. This book brings many conflicts between her family, and friends. Also, tells how many things are hiding behind you and you have no idea. Her mom, and dad have been hiding this secret since she was a little girl. Once you read one page of this book, you can't put it down, and if you liked The Face on the Milk Carton so much, then go on ahead and read the sequel called Whatever Happened to Janie. I've read it and I thought it was even better than the first. So if you like suspicion books, or books with lots of secrets, I would read The Face on the Milk Carton by Caroline B.Cooney.

This is a wonderful book!
This is one of my favorite books! Janie Johnson, a normal teenage girl, sits down in her school cafeteria and recognizes the kidnapped little girl on a milk carton to be herself. This and more leads to her search to find out who she really is. This is a book you can't put down. I think it's good because of the detail the author puts in and her style of writing. I also think she did a good job in the way she leads you through Janie's search so that the ending to the book is as surprising to you as it is to Janie. Once you finish it, you'll want to read the other books in the series: "Whatever Happened to Janie", "The Voice on the Radio", and "What Janie Found". You should definitely try this book.

The face on the milk carton
I think this book is the best book I've read all year. I would recommend this book to every reading and language arts teacher to read to their classes. If I was a reading and language arts teacher I would read the Face on the Milk Carton to my classes . The reason why I would read this book to my class is becouse this book is very good and interesting. I hope my teacher (Mrs.Porter) reads this book with her eighth graders next year, becouse I think they would like it as much as I do. I think the writer had a good ideas when she wrote this book. I think they should get a best book award for writing the best book that anybody could and should read.In the Face on the Milk Carton this 3 year old girl named Janie was kidnapped from a mall in New Jersey. When the book starts Janie is 15 years old and she lives in Conneticut. She starts having flash backs about her real mom and dad.You can read the book to find out the rest.

Flight #116 is Down by Caroline B. Cooney
Flight #116 is Down is an extremely well done adventure intertwined with everyday life stories. Cooney does an excellent job displaying the fears and tragedies of an accident without putting in a lot of unnecessary gore. As you read it you will ride on a roller coaster of emotions and your attention will be held captive until the exhausting finish, making this book a classic page-turner. While indulging yourself into the pages you will meet many characters full of personality and life. Each has their own story and is in some way related to the plane in this book, "Flight #116." Their lives however come together when a 747 comes crashing down onto a large estate. Then all at once everyone's life seems to play a part in the survival of the passengers aboard the plane. Read carefully as you learn just how devastating an accident like this can be. Believe me, it will take your breath away.

The Dove House Crash
A Review by Kelsey
This story, as you can tell by the title, is about an airplane crash. Heidi is a normal girl who lives in the small town of Nearing River. Her parents are constantly away on business, leaving her with Mrs. Camp, the housemaid. Heidi and her family live on a huge estate several miles outside of town. Patrick also lives in Nearing River and goes to the same school as Heidi, but they do not know each other. He is an EMT for the local fire dept. and is tired of never receiving a real adrenaline rush emergency. One night an event will happen that will change both Heidi's and Patrick's lives forever. Patrick finally receives his first real emergency when Flight #116 had problems and decided to crash in her backyard!

In this book I didn't like the way that Caroline wrote it. She wrote this book in both chapters and time intervals. For example when the plane is crashing she wrote - 5:41 P.M. Heidi looked up into the sky to see it turning red and a deafening noise filling the air. This method I liked a lot because it gave you a chance to realize how much can happen within a couple a minutes or how little could happen in an hour. Clooney would also tell the story through about 6 different characters in the book. She would sometimes be focusing on Patrick and then all of a sudden you are reading about what it's like to be on the actual plane. This way was not bad; it would sometimes be just a little confusing. I did, however, really enjoy this story. Even though it was written pretty elementary, I liked the plot and complications of it. This book was exciting and even suspenseful at times. I just wanted to keep reading. When I finished I still wanted more!

Even though this book is mainly about a plane crashing, it is also a little more. People who would not normally associate with one another and work together do. Friendships are made and lives are changed as the whole entire town of Nearing River responds to this incident. I recommend it for readers who like suspense and surprising outcomes!

the book for all teens to read
I first read this book when I was about 12 years old. I sat down and read it cover to cover in about 2 hours and kept rereading it. 5 years later, I picked it up and reread it. Caroline B Cooney writes in a style that captivates any teenager or really, any adult into reading the book over and over again. Based upon the idea of a plane crashing in a large rural estate and the events that follow it. It revolves around key characters who have come from different walks of life and different family backgrounds. The story is crafted in a way that flows clearly and makes perfect sense. A great mention of the EMS & firefighting teams is made and one of the key characters, is an EMT-B. I loved this book andwould recomend it to any teens to read.

Keep smiling and keep reading.

Caroline has done it again!
Just when you thought the story couldn't possibly get more exciting, Caroline B. Cooney has done it again in The Voice On the Radio. I think we all know the story about Janie Johnson, who happens to be lactose intolorant, finding a picture of her on her best friends milk carton. We know that through confusion and lies, her growing romance wth the boy next door, Reeve Sheilds is the only thing she can count on. But, in The Voice On The Radio, something happens that none of us expected. In a search for popularity at a Boston college, Reeve heads for the campus radio station. He soon finds himself with many interested listeners, as every Tuesday and Thursday, he tells more and more of Janie's secret. Other reviews have ranked this book low, saying the plot was thin, or the book to short. Don't belive one word of it. This story left me on the edge of my seat. Caroline Cooney's writing left me breathless, I cried reading this book, just like I did reading Whatever Happened to Janie. I confess the ending didn't give you much to write home about, (which gives me high hopes for another sequal), this book is right up there with The Face On the Milk Carton and Whatever Happened to Janie. The latest, but hopfully not last book in the milk carton series, this is a must-read for all Janie fans.

READ IT READ IT!
In "The Voice on the Radio" Janie's boyfriend, Reeve, becomes a collegeman and works at the college's radio station. When he starts his first on-air segment with the classic words "Once upon a time. . ." no one thinks he can pull off a story. But Reeve, panicked, starts to tell something that he knows a lot about - his girlfriend, Janie, and her saga between two families. His radio installments become an instant success and are referred to as "janies" by fans.

Meanwhile, Janie accompanies her older sister, Jody, along with younger brother Brian to look at colleges, including Reeve's. Janie knows that her boyfriend is doing a radio show, and decides to tune in. Little does she know what she's in for!

Once you start this book, I assure you that you'll not be able to put it down (especially near the end). Mrs. Cooney did a wonderful job with advancing the character of Reeve into a main character instead of just a goofy boyfriend. All the "Face on the Milk Carton" books are worth reading, you'll love 'em, and WOW!
