A Pilgrimage through Photographs.
It is a magnificent work of photojournalism that takes one through the various places and events in the life of Jesus by way of pictures and text. Starting from the annunciation of the angel to Mary at Nazareth till the ascension of Jesus on the Mount of Olives, the most important places of interest for a pilgrim are well portrayed through seventy full color photographs and the significance of the places today and at the time of Jesus explained by way of the accompanying text. It is designed to be a good pilgrimage without the scrimmage of the actual travel. There are various sites in Holy Land worthy of the attention of a tourist, but this book chooses to focus simply on the places of interest from the point of view of Jesus life and ministry. ...

The author Jacques Potin is a French monk and journalist who has led many groups of pilgrims through the Holy Land and has brought forth a guide for the same purpose. The original French text is translated by Colette Joly Dees who has done a very good job of rendering the English text in the everyday language of the North American people. Whoever has been on a pilgrimage of the Holy Land or wishes to do so, following the footsteps of the Lord, would treasure this lovely book.

LA Chatte

About La Chatte
In the genre of novel, La Chatte, written by Colette, explores the intimate feelings of the different characters shown in the story.

What is amazing in this kind of text is how the misterious sight of the silent animal judges in an implacable way the "mise en escene" of each one of the characters. As La Chatte belonged to the male character who was just married with an insecure woman who had to live with both man and feline lady, she started to loose control in her own new home. The second idea travelling all through the story is how the young lady always thought that La chatte appears in her new life as a spy or as a presence of her mother in law. This kind of life resulted so hard for a young woman who had always thought about marriage as a new way of life, full of kindness, love and warm.

Is a very nice text about human condition, about fear and insecureness in a media class society. The trimph of the mistery and one more motif to love or hate cats as the history of man had always teached us.

My favorite of Collette's Works
It takes awhile to get used to Collette's unique style, but once I was used to it I grew to enjoy it. La Vagabonde is a fascinating look into the Dance Hall world, but more importantly, a wonderful study of a woman of contradictory desires. I feel it beautifully captures a woman's struggle for a sense of self and of the often conflicting desire to love and loose oneself in love. It also deals with aging and disillusionment. This novel seems in a large part autobiographical of Collette's own life. Her writing is sensual and intelligent, and very French.

Le\Ble en Herbe
Published in Paperback by French & European Pubns (11 January, 1999)
Author: SidonieGabrielle Colette
Amazon base price: $10.95

Like the trio of Chopin's Funeral, but...
This novel turns over at the arrival of a beautiful Madame at her cottage to avoid the heat of the summer. The leading young boy is strongly attracted to her in spite of the existence of his girlfriend. This little love affair continued quietly and beautifully till she went back to the city. We would close this story with the end of this affair with comfort, if possible.

Without the last plot, this novel was a common French romance, which would not impress so many people. This last plot has sounded like a sudden fortississimo discord after the pianissimo trio of the Chopin's Funeral. Even after finishing to read this book, I could not understand what had happened for a moment. Soon after, I have seriously realized the French reality. I wonder if the whole story is only a prelude for the last scene.

Although this novel is shown as a little love affair at the adolescence seemingly, I can't help feel a different intention to realize who young girls are.

Sad it's so hard to find much about Matta in print or Web
It's incredible that it's so hard to find much useful (or visual) information about this great, great Chilean artists, both in print or even on the Web. Born in 1912, and originaly, an architect and former disciple of Le Corbusier, Matta went on to be recognized as a true genius of the Surrealist movement. His works can be seen in the Art Gallery of Ontario, Art Museum of the Americas, Washington D.C.; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; Toledo Museum of Art, Ohio; and Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, of his homeland Chile. Any book you find on him, get it: you will be delighted to discover his work!

Quick, home-style, and tasty
I was looking for a crock pot cookbook. Most that I have looked at are filled with recipes that I would never fix. My family and I like home-style meals with ingredients that we already have around the house or would normally purchase at the store. Quick Crockery Cooking met both of those demands. This book was filled with great recipes that could be fixed in a short amount of time and then ready at the end of the day when I am too tired to fix something for dinner. It seems anything you cook in a crockpot comes out tasting great. I would definately recommend this book to anyone looking for a crockery cookbook. I first checked it out at our local library and now I am adding it to my wish list.
