What is amazing in this kind of text is how the misterious sight of the silent animal judges in an implacable way the "mise en escene" of each one of the characters. As La Chatte belonged to the male character who was just married with an insecure woman who had to live with both man and feline lady, she started to loose control in her own new home. The second idea travelling all through the story is how the young lady always thought that La chatte appears in her new life as a spy or as a presence of her mother in law. This kind of life resulted so hard for a young woman who had always thought about marriage as a new way of life, full of kindness, love and warm.
Is a very nice text about human condition, about fear and insecureness in a media class society. The trimph of the mistery and one more motif to love or hate cats as the history of man had always teached us.

Without the last plot, this novel was a common French romance, which would not impress so many people. This last plot has sounded like a sudden fortississimo discord after the pianissimo trio of the Chopin's Funeral. Even after finishing to read this book, I could not understand what had happened for a moment. Soon after, I have seriously realized the French reality. I wonder if the whole story is only a prelude for the last scene.
Although this novel is shown as a little love affair at the adolescence seemingly, I can't help feel a different intention to realize who young girls are.

The author Jacques Potin is a French monk and journalist who has led many groups of pilgrims through the Holy Land and has brought forth a guide for the same purpose. The original French text is translated by Colette Joly Dees who has done a very good job of rendering the English text in the everyday language of the North American people. Whoever has been on a pilgrimage of the Holy Land or wishes to do so, following the footsteps of the Lord, would treasure this lovely book.
