Introduction to Probability and Stochastic Processes
Published in Textbook Binding by Prentice Hall (1973)
Authors: James L. Melsa and Andrew P. Sage
Amazon base price: $54.00
Used price: $120.00
Average review score:

Accurate and exhaustive introduction to the field...
Starting from the basic Probability concepts presented in an unformal (yet rigourous) way, this book moves swiftly on to some of the central concepts and results of the theory of stochastic processes. Basic (but fundamental) concepts like stochastic convergence, stationarity, stochastic differentiation and integration are presented in a rigourous yet mathematically accessible way. The latter chapters focus on some of the most applicable parts of the theory of stochastic processes:
Response of linear systems to stochastic inputs, Gaussean processes, the Wiener process, stochastic differential equations and response of non-linear systems.
The pre-requisites are exceptionally low: basic calculus and matrix theory are sufficient to get you going. However I feel that some knowledge of measure theory (which I lack...) would vastly help in grasping some of the more advanced chapters.

An ideal first biograpy of Madison for younger students
The most obvious strength of the Profiles of the Presidents series is that they are profusely illustrated little books. There are almost four dozen photographs, etchings, and paintings detailing the life and times of James Madison, the fourth President of the United States and the Father of the Constitution. However, this introductory juvenile biography is written by Andrew Santella, a prolific writing of books for children on American history, so this is much more than a picture book about Madison. Santella provides the basic biographical information about Madison but there is clearly an emphasis on his pivotal role in creating the U.S. Constitution and the War of 1812, which dominated his two terms in the White House. This book features a glossary, fast facts about the president, a parallel timeline of world and presidential events, and additional resources for young readers to help them better understand the life and times of Madison. The result is an excellent first biography of Madison, or any other President, for young students. Other biography series are going to provide more information, but this is the better place to start, especially for younger students.

Sensual, Environmental, Cerebral and Erotic Book by Freeman
This first collaborative novel I've ever read by two authors who are not siblings, lovers or married to each other. And what a book they've crafted: this is the powerfully compelling tale of two families that come apart, strugggle as we all do, merge, and come together. A beautifully written and sensual tale of love, sex, family and what matters, set in the vastness of contemporary northern California near a Hoopa Native American reservation. What a book! Prepare to lose an afternoon or evening, but how much you'll be gaining...

easy to read and very helpful
We bought this book after our rugby team had two concussions during a match. This book breaks down possible injuries and gives a list of warning signs and how to stabilize injuries until you can reach a hospital. I was very impressed with the clear writing style which makes it possible for anyone to understand and apply the techniques described. I recommend this book for sports teams to keep with their medicine chest.

The Mind of the Founder
The Mind of the Founder: Sources of the Political Thought of James Madison by James Madison and Marvin Meyers editor, is a book on Madison's political thought through writings and papers.

This is excellent for students, scholars and general readers as it delves into Madison's thought as a political theorist, practicing politician, and major political thinker in his time. Madison political life went on for fifty years, from the time of the Revolution to the framing of the Constitution, and finially to the sectional crisis over slavery.

This book is divided into five major parts and each is subdivided into small like sections. The five major parts are: Anticipations: Revolutionary Years; Founding: The Critical Period; Opposition: The Federalist Era; Power: The Republican Regime; and lastly Reflections: The Elder Statesman.

This book has an excellent bibliography of selected readings about Madison and is documented through and verified from extensive cross referencing and from Madison's own writings. Reading Madison's writings makes you know Madison rather vicariously, but to know him better you would have to speak with him one on one.

I found this book fascinating and well worth the time as I read, you can almost feel the wheels turning in Madison's head as he plots and thinks through problems... too bad Madison wasn't a better leader... he would have surpassed Jefferson in import. But, as a political theorist, Jefferson depended on Madison.

A great book!
This book is exceptional. It provides several programming scenarios for different operations, then lists the good and bad points of each. It also explains in which situation they are best used. For example: .NET Remoting vs. Web Services vs. COM

There are several performance tips given that I never thought about and they really work . . . I, of course, had to test them for myself.

If you are like me, you don't have time to test every scenario to find out which technique is best for every situation, this book helped to guide me in the right direction.

Even better than the Wraith Player's Guide
Don't be fooled by the title- although it focuses on the dark side of every Wraith, this outstanding book contains tons of important information on all sorts of subjects- from exactly what your Eidolon IS, and when it comes into play, to roleplaying romance and love.

Other important topics covered include exactly how Castigation affects your Shadow- and while your Shadow is by definition your adversary, the isn't always your enemy. There is a lot more to Psyche/Shadow interaction than just "I'm the Good Guy, he's the Bad Guy."

Every Circle of Wraiths should have this one- you owe it to yourselves... and to your Shadows. :)

What makes this book interesting is that it was written between the murders and the trial. Huie knew who the murderers were, how they did it, and never expected a guilty verdict.

The book introduces you in detail to Michael (Mickey) Schwerener and all the details leading up to his murder. This detail will help you understand exactly why and how these murders took place.

This latest edition includes updates by the author to compare his early speculation against the results of the trial.

Upside Down and Inside Out

Amusing, insightful look at the 1992 Presidential election.
This book does more than offer a funny, learned, and well paced analysis of the 1992 Presidential election, it does so while at the same time offering an interesting theory about political conflict in America. For Busch and Ceaser, the basic conflict which has defined american political life is one between "insiders and outsiders'. Clinton got elected in large measure because he was an "insider' who was able to sell himself as an "outsider' to a public distrustful of the inside washington establishment of which George Bush was so paradigmatic a representative. Perot , on the other hand , was far TOO outside, to put it mildly. In short, a book which I would reccomend to all students of American Politics, and one which might be useful in an introductory college course.
