Besides this book I have also read :"IN PURSUIT OF ARSENE LUPIN" ,"ARSENE LUPIN vs HERLOCK SHOLMES","EXTRAORDINARY ADVENTURES OF ARSENE LUPIN" in the early '90's translated into greek. I was totally taken by the portrail of the character and by how well-written the book was!!! I've managed to convince my husband to read :"The Extraordinary Adventures... " (the only title we could get from the library) and he absolutely loved it!We have decided to buy all the titles we could find because they are worth having. All lovers of SHERLOCK HOLMES should give Arsene Lupin a try!

It's fantasic!!!
I'm kind of surprised to find a fan of Lupin. I have seen many Holmes manias but I was the only one who had any interest at the wonderful frenchman in my district. It's a sad thing that many people didn't had the chance to taste the sweetness of Maurice's stories. well, who ever you are, read some and you'll need some.

Read Lupin's awesome adventures!!
It's really a pity (almost a shame) that Amazon.com doesen't have a complete list of Leblanc's work. Anyway, if you're intersted, in Brazil contact Editora Nova Fronteira. I really don't know if they are still publishing the books, but you should try. Leblanc's hero and at the same time, villain, is Arsène Lupin, a frenchman talented for arts, literature, wining young ladies' hearts, and, oddly, robbery. He is the portrait of the frenchman, hilarious, independent, clever, and human. Leblanc hit the bull's eye creating this kind of character to go against the other mistery characters of his time, like Agatha Christie's Poirot, or Father Brown, or Inspetor Maigret and, most of all, the All-Time Brittanic Sherlock Holmes. As a matter of fact, there is a book called "Arsène Lupin meets Herlock Sholmes", figure out why! "Crystal Stopper" is one of the three Leblanc's books one must read, it's the first one. The other two are called "The hollow Needle" and "813". In these books, Lupin is involved with treasures, has to decipher complicated plots, has to save his life and lives of people he cares about. The most funny chapters are the ones he has to deal with the french police force. He even disguises himself as a well-known and respected inspector for years, and no one is able to discover him. If you're sick and tired of Miss Jane Marple and such characters, take your time and find Leblanc's books. Another good guess is "The teeth of the tiger", showing an older and tired, yet very alive, Arsène Lupin. Follow him and discover his secrets, his passions, and his treasures.

A lost and found treasure!
It took me a while to recover after reading the story. True words are plain and simple. A short story, yet so powerful, just as I thought I've known it all, it makes me think hard about life from a whole new perspective. "Thus does my heart go out to you...", they may be long gone, but it feels like they are still talking to me.
A lost tale found after 150 years and I am so glad that I have found you.

Haunting and heavenly
This spare, tender fairy tale has a calm beauty that touches the heart; add to that the lush, sumptuous illustrations by the truly gifted Maurice Sendak, and you have a book of otherworldly peace and depth. Thoughts that lie too deep for tears indeed ... highly recommended!

WONDERFUL!
I am 13 years old, but I still love this book like I did when I read it when I was 4 years old. It was one of the saddest, yet sweetest books I've ever read. I cry at the end when mother and daughter are reunited and I weep at the daughter's innocence.

Standing Up for God & Country
If there ever was written a book which could galvanize Americans into resistance of the evils which plague us today, this is it.

Not a literary masterpiece, or even elegant, but a straightforward and honest explanation of where our country has gone wrong and what must be done to preserve our individual liberties.

We're certain there are more Maurice Bessingers out there, but they must stand with him and the rest of America to restore their God-given rights, and cast off this lock-step march into globalism.

Not only does Besssinger explain the southern view, but in ages past these views were the mainstream of America.

Strongly urge home-schooling parents to include this defense of freedom in their curiculums.

Southerner Stance for Principals
South Carolinian, Maurice Bessinger, tells his life story, from growing up in the South during the Great Depression to his current stand for Dixie. He tells about his early experience in the restaurant business, his combat service during the Korean War, his life-long marriage and rasing his children, his political views, his success in the barbeque business, and his current and bold stance for principles of the United States Constitution.
When political correctness forced the removal of the Confederate Heritage Flag from the South Carolina State House dome and placed at the Confederate Monument on the capitol grounds, he protested by flying the South Carolina State Flag and Confederate Heritage Flag and providing Christian literature and the Southern view of the war Between the States at his Piggie Park Barbeque Restaurants in Columbia, South Carolina.
Political correct forces pressured scalawag Wal-Mart and several grocery store chains to remove his famous barbeque sauce and other food products from their shelves because of his political views and displays. His restaurants remain successful, but he has lost the majority of his wholesale business as a result of political correctness.
How many Americans today would jeopardize their financial security by standing for their principals? he is standing for what he believes in just as his Confederate ancestors did 141 years ago.

Startling Facts About Our World Today
If you think our country isn't headed down the wrong path, think again! After reading Mr. Bessinger's book, *Defending My Heritage*, it opened my eyes to what has been taking place in this great country gradually over the past 5 decades. The American public should (and will) be thanking Mr. Bessinger for the many truths and facts that he reveals in his book. The myths and falsehoods that have been constantly drummed into us as children and adults is unbelieveable. Finally, at the risk of losing everything, Mr. Bessinger has opened the flood gates on the lies and deceptions of those who stand to prosper with the coming of a New World Order. I urge everyone to purchase *Defending My Heritage* and read it!

Mr. Bessinger begins his book by relating learning experiences as a young child, through his early adult life, and into present day. His thoughts, his experiences, and his knowledge is vast and genuine. A man of Christian values and morals, Mr. Bessinger stands for what is right...what is good...refusing to keep quiet in hopes of bringing about a return to Constitutional government for all people.

*Defending My Heritage* will make you think! A definite eye-opener for all Americans. A must-read!

Feynman honours his hero, and electroweak guy pays tribute
This is a little jem of a book. The arguably two greatest living physicists of the 80s, Feynman and Weinberg, both Nobel Laureates, pay tribute to their master, the man who said that mathematical beauty is what physicists should look for in physical laws, the one and only, Paul Dirac. These memorial lectures are the best one could wish for, together with Abdus Salam's tribute a couple of years before. I derived pure delight in reading Feynman's lecture, which explains the existence of antiparticles predicted by Dirac in his equation of the electron. Weinberg however surprisingly outstands Feynman in giving a lecture on symmetry laws, etc. These lectures would have surely thrilled Dirac, without doubt. For all physicists who like to have those little precious books on their shelves, it's a very good and enjoyable buy.

Physics by two of the very best!
As usual, the best physics books are short and to the point, as is this one. The two Dirac lectures may serve as a perfectly good mini physics course all by themselves. I always enjoy a Feynman lecture, and this is no exception. He cuts to the chase without sacrificing the plot. But, I must say, in this case the Wienberg lecture is the better of the two. Weinberg's style has a particular grace & beauty about it that gently exposes the aesthetic meaning of the search for a picture of nature.

Two of the best give great insight into fundamentals.
Feynman yet again gives great insight into the laws of physics, this time exploring the reasons for existence of anti-particles, starting from the dirac equation etc.. Plus some really outstanding photographs, that fella Weinberg will be chuffed to have his name mentioned on the book cover!

An excellent source of technical and historical information.
This book is at my side every time I watch Wings. It has excellent statistics on use, combat history, developmental history, what countries employ the aircraft, and on the munitions they carry. It even gives flight data on the different types of missles used by militarys around the world. This is the finest and most comprehensive tome of its' type I have ever had the pleasure to read. The illustrations alone, surface and cutaway, are reason enough to buy the book. Why have you not updated and republished this work Mr. Gunston? It bears a reprise.

THIS IS A GREAT BOOK
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK, NOT ONLY LISTING MILITARY PLANES, THEIR VARIANTS, GREAT PICTURES AND ILLUSTRATIONS, AND WHAT AIR FORCES USE THEM, BUT ALSO A LIST OF AIR FORCES AND WHAT AIRCRAFT THEY FLY. I WISH SOMEONE WOULD UPDATE AND RERELEASE THIS EXCELLENT REFERENCE.

I just wish someone would update this book and republish it.
So many pepole borrowed this book it was bounld not to return to me. I took my chances, lost and have been looking for it for 7 years. This is a great referance book. An invintory of the world's air power by country, a detailed and diagramed discription of hundreds of airplanes and missils. Someone please republish and update this excellent book.

Outstanding book!
My son recieved this book as a gift and he simply loves it! He's not quite 2 and he knows all the fish in the book and has even made up a few (he insists the spotted fish is a "giraffe" fish!). But - the real proof of the learning value of his book happened just yesterday. We were at the Nature Center, and they have a salt-water tank. As soon as he saw it he raced to it, pointing, excited and telling me, "Mama! A lionfish! A lionfish!" And sure enough - there was a "stripy-spiky lionfish", just like in the book! I couldn't believe at his age that he could make the connection between the picture in the book and the real thing, but he did! Obviously, this book has real educational value. I recommend it to ALL parents! And I'm here to buy a few other "Nature Trail" books today...

This is a fantastic book!
What a GORGEOUS book! "Little silver dolphin" is lost; join him on an underwater journey of discovery as he searches for his family. This book is instantly engaging mostly due to the tactile treasures and OUTSTANDING illustrations, but the prose is pleasing and educational too. "The tiny, SHINY flying fish go swimming through the air. Now lift the flap and you will see what else is leaping there." The reader lifts the flap, "A sailfish with fins of BLUE. And Mother Dolphin's somewhere too!" In smaller print, the author includes lessons on numbers and counting, "How many flying fish can you count?" and "Can you find the mother dolphin?"

This is a "touch and feel" book with lessons on marine life, colors, numbers and counting. The images, beautifully rendered, are beset with pattern and fine details, not to mention the union between the "touch and feel" items and the illustrations on the "half-page flaps" are exceptional. Additional textures include: FURRY sea otter, SCALY shinny fish, PRICKLY pink coral, LUMPY lobster shell, NEON darting fish, SMOOTH skinned shark, and SOFT silver dolphin. Recommended for 4 to 8 years old, but my 1 year old adores this book and finds the textures and images irresistible. "In the Ocean," is a fantastic book!

In the Ocean
We found this to be a delightfully illustrated book that captivated our three year old daughter. The book follows the journey of a young dolphin as it searches for its mother. On the way the dolphin encounters colorful fish and sealife. The book encourages counting, has beautiful textures incorporated with the illustrations, and overall is very interactive. Be prepared to read this wonderful book over and over to your child!

Jaguar E Type: The Definitive History
Published in Hardcover by Automobile Quarterly (1990)
Authors: Phillip Porter, Maurice D. Hendry, and Philip Porter
Amazon base price: $84.95
Average review score:

The greatest of all works on the magnificent Jaguar E-type.

Rarely does a book's title reflect accurately on its contents, as does Phillip Porter's "Jaguar E-type, The definitive history". One's initial impression is of physical presence, for this is a massive work in all respects. Leafing through the book for the first time, one is immediately struck by a sense of awe that this could possibly represent the work of one man. There can be no doubt this is Porter's legacy, for which he laboured long and hard and gave much of himself.

The foreword is written by sportsman Briggs Cunningham, hinting that the car's racing heritage will figure prominently within. This is indeed the case, for fully a third of the content is dedicated to competition. The greater volume of the book, however, deals with the production car, against an historical timeline that begins with its evolution and conception and extends, rather than ends, with the E-type as it continues to exist today.

It is clear that Porter is unabashedly passionate about this greatest of all sportscars, but he masterfully avoids what could have been a eulogy and creates both a powerful reference work and an entertaining read. "The definitive history" brings together a multitude of colourful personalities and anecdotes and weaves these into a framework of facts, insights and specifications. There are literally hundreds of photographs and illustrations, some of which will be familiar to those who have read other books on the subject but the vast majority of which have never been published before.

History and objectivity are often mutually exclusive and if there can be fault found in this work it would be historian's soft disdain for cars which diverged from the pure lines of the Series 1 two-seaters. This, however, does nothing to detract from what is an otherwise magnificient accomplishment. There will be no other comprehensive histories written about the legendary Jaguar E-type, for none could possibly better this one.

Nick Saltarelli 1968 E-type OTS

Massive tome, excruciatingly detailed.<BR>
Phillip Porter's reference on the Jaguar E-Type that other authors cite as their source. This is a must read if you are at all interested in E-Types. Some of it may not be too flattering to Sir Wm Lyons or Jaguar but it tells the story as only an insider could. You will learn about the inspiration, design, developement, manufacture and end of production of the model

Definitive is the word
A massive effort. One of the most complete references ever to E-Type history. Hundreds of black and white and color illustrations. Insights into design, manufacturing, marketing and service. Production counts, export statistics, model specifications. This is not a repair book. It is a comprehensive history.

LA Revolucion Granadina 1979 83 Grenda Revolution

Authors: Fidel Castro and Maurice Bishop

Historia inspiradoa y aleccionadora

Weapon for today's struggles
The revolution in Grenada was the first socialist revolution in the English-speaking world, the first socialist revolution in a country of Africa descended people, and sadly the first revolution smashed by the combination of Stalinist counterrevolution and imperialist invasion. As the world in general, and the West Indies, Africa, and Black people in America are already facing conditions as bad as those of the great depression, working people will return to this battle, and seize not just the spirit and courage of this small island fighting against the imperialist monster, but of the concrete lessons, bad and good, won in their blood. This small pamphlet recounts that history, those lessons, and that spirit, not in the style of some history teacher, or in the style of sentimentalist wanting you to cry over Grenada's past. It is written so the blood and struggle of the Grenadian people can teach today's fighting workers and farmers, across the globe to win their triumphs and avoid their defeats.

Timeless!
My Mom bought this book for me because my "best friend" and I were always fighting. That was 1971, and I was 5 years old. I have always remembered this boook. It was probably the first book I ever had that didn't make it look like kids were always nicey-nice. This book shows how friendship endures despite differences. Even though we don't see each other but once a decade or so, now, I still think of that "best friend" and the good and bad times we had together. And I think of this book and the things it taught me -- children can be mean to each other (though nobody wants them to,) and friendships can endure.

35 year favorite
This book was a favorite of my sister's when we were young. I'm taking 1965. She is now 37 with three kids of her own. I got it from the library for my 2 and 6 year old children. It was a big hit. They giggled, the 2 year old did because her sister did. It has become a favorite in our house all over again. Especially since I have bossy kids.

Sendak and Udry are right on the money with this baby!
This is a great book for four or five year olds. It is actually very realistic; young children are constantly making, breaking and renewing friendships, all in the great process of self-discovery and practice. This book could be used as a tool to discuss friendship with kindergarteners. The illustrations are perfect. The line drawings are simple, with only three colors: red, green and black. But I knew just John and James were feeling. This book is timeless!

charming beginning reader
These stories about Little Bear and his friend Emily are a charming introduction to the world of reading for beginners. Little Bear is a sweet child to his mother and father and a good friend to Duck, Hen, Owl and Cat. Minarik's simple narrative will be easy enough for early readers, and Sendak's illustrations will hold their attention. The four stories are: Little Bear and Emily, about the friends' meeting; Duck, Baby Sitter; The Party at Owl's House, in which Lucy falls from a tree; and "Your Friend, Little Bear", about Little Bear's coping when Emily goes away for the school year.

A wonderful rediscovery!
I just found this book in a used book store recently and I am thrilled! I remember Little Bear so well from childhood. I bought the book and it proudly sits on my shelf waiting for the day when I have a child to share it with.

This book will give you warm fuzzys! Else has created a wonderfully warm, sweet and adorable book with cute characters.

You and your child will really enjoy it! Don't pass it up!

A childhood treasure waiting to be discovered
As a little girl in the early 1960's, Little Bear's Friend was one of my favorite books. What a joy to discover that this old friend is still available for my three year old daughter to enjoy!
