This book has truly inspired me. To read about the sacrifices Brother Andrew made has made me know I can do so much more for God. This is a must read for anyone who is working for God. This is a thrilling, edge of your seat, page turner. You will not be able to put it down.

In 1968 I received this book as a bonus from the Farm Family Book Club. I started to read it in the evening and read until I was finished at 4:00 a.m. The next day I said, "If Brother Andrew can trust God for 365 days a year, I can trust Him for one day, no matter how foolish it makes me look." I did, and I did look foolish. But I found out that He is faithful. My life has never been the same.

This book can change your life and how you see God. Brother Andrew gave his life totally to God, and God remained faithful to him. you cannot read this book and come away with the same view on God. I read this book, and could not put it down. Sure to strengthen your Christian experience. As thrilling as any spy novel. Not one to be missed by any christian. What one person can do when they give themselves totally to God. If you thought the result would be a dull life, you're dead wrong! Read the book!
IF YOU LIKED THIS, I HAVE ANOTHER TO RECCOMEND. It's called "A Thousand Shall Fall" But you must be sure to get the right one. The full title is "A thousand shall Fall: The electrifying story of a soldier and his family that dared to practice their faith in Hitler's Germany." Written by Suzy Hazel Mundy. It's as much of a page turner as this book and will also change your life.

It was something we had not done in nearly twenty years; My wife and I actually read this book together! We were both so intrigued by the first chapter of "The Greatest Networker in the World" that neither of us was willing to yield the book to the other to read first. So, we took turns, alternating chapters, and read the story to each other over the course of two evenings. John Milton Fogg so masterfully draws his readers into this "first-person" account of one man's discovery of the real secrets of success in network marketing that we were genuinely disappointed to find, at the end, that the caharacter was fictional and not autobiographical. Our hearts were touched by the "narrator's" personal struggle to find the solution that would bring he and his family the success and financial security he so deeply wished to provide for them. Fogg evokes genuine emotion from the reader, revealing the real-life success secrets in this business as the main character learns "what he doesn't know that he doesn't know." Highly recommended for anyone seeking success in sales or simply looking for practical advice and encouragement on rediscovering your dreams and renewing your belief that they CAN really come true! Inspiring and "Amazing!"

I have been in the Network Marketing Business for two months. This is the third book I've read on Network Marketing and by far the most influential. I don't want to hear someone tell me what to do, I want to hear an awesome story about a successful person. Read this book, if you're looking for the same story.

I've read it twice and I'm now reading it again! For those who believe network marketing is just plain 'sales', think again. Since reading this and some of his other works on TGN, I've become more focused on helping people and that in turn grows my business.

You gotta read this one.

Unlike most autobiographies, My Life and Hard Times is short and extremely sweet. Despite its length, however, you can pick it up again and again and always be delighted by it. As Thurber says, he talks "largely about small matters and smally about great affairs." And the great affairs he talks about are quite meaningful, adding yet another dimension to the book. After reading it, I had the feeling James Thurber was somewhat depressed because of the limits of life. He only hints at this at the beginning and end of the book in his "Preface to a Life" and "A Note at the End," but it is there, and it is powerful. As for the nine anecdotes that make up the bulk of the book, there is simply no equal: they are very funny, displaying the occasional and humorous insanity of people. This is a book to be read again and again, and to be treasured.

Other reviewers have said it before, but I feel the need to back them up even more: This book is a work of pure genius and originality.

I was lucky enough to discover James Thurber while in the 8th grade, after flipping ahead in my English book and reading "The Car We Had To Push." A year later, I stumbled across copies of this book and "The Thurber Carnival" (an anthology of all his books) at a Harper Collins discount book sale. I consider this book to be the greatest deal of my life, since I purchased it for fifty cents and now feel that I would have done the same if it had been fifty dollars instead.

My Life and Hard Times is only a quarter of an inch thick, disguising the awesome amount of humor it contains. When I packed for college, this was the first book to accompany me on my journey, and I still reread it once or twice a month. The stories can be enjoyed on their own, but when combined into a biography such as this, the realization that Thurber can take the most ordinary-seeming events in life and turn them into a riot of laughter. It almost makes *me* wish for a family as interesting as he makes his own out to be. The stories provide a good dose of nostalgia for those who remember life in the early twentieth century, but for the rest of us, it's a treat to hear the stories through the eyes of someone who lived through it.

I'll stop gushing about how much I absolutely adore this title and leave you with the best advice I can give: BUY THIS BOOK, and treasure it.

This is my favorite book. After reading it six times, it is still laugh out loud funny. It is short and easy to read, but lets the reader have a look into the oddities of James Thurber's childhood. This is a book to read just for the fun of it.

I got this book a couple of days ago and must say I am truly amazed. The authors Lang and Montroll (who I consider two of today's best folders) say "Sea Life", and mean it. Not only does this book contain models from almost every order of water animals (not only fish and crabs, but also shells, echinoderms, frogs, whales...) but the resulting models truly look alive. I just finished my first Atlantic Purple Sea Urchin and it looks like the real thing.

Not for the beginner, though. Most folds in here are as challenging as they are cool.

Origami Sea Life is the origami book I use the most; I come back to it far more often than any of the 30 or so other origami books I own. The models inside it cover such a wonderful range of subjects that when I think of making a little gift for someone, I can always find something appropriate in this book. Montroll and Lang happen to be my two favorite origami authors, for their challenging and interesting models, and they produce some of their best work here. The range and depth of the models in this book is amazing. There are a slew of fish, including ones not often seen (like the scary Blackdevil Angler), a bunch of well-done mollusks, and a few very difficult crustaceans. Every model in the book turns out well, many of them with a nice three-dimensional touch. Few advanced origamians will have real trouble with this book, too. The point is to complete the models, and while there is a great feeling of accomplishment once your Fiddler Crab is done, it's not because you got past horrible diagrams. No, it's because you folded a beautiful sea creature that not many others could. I would highly recommend Origami Sea Life for any advanced folder (or aspiring advanced folder), as it is worth far more than it costs.

This is definitely not a book for beginners, but once you have got your feet wet with some origami, you may want to give it a try. An excellent collaboration between two top US folders, Montroll and Lang, this books starts with some easy models and quickly progresses up to some really tough stuff. My own favorite is the horseshoe crab, the finished product is wonderfully true-to-life on both the top and the underside of the crab. Definitely models in here that you will love to show off after several hours of careful folding.

I believe John Skipp and Craig Spector never quite got the recognition they deserved. "Light at the End" was both applauded and dismissed as "splatter punk" at the time, but it's a story that has much more merit than that. Yes, the authors paint a harshly realistic picture of what might happen if vampires infested New York -- and it ain't pretty. But there is a richness of characterization in this story that works to balance the gore. I rank this one right under Stephen King's "Salem's Lot" as a story that continues to haunt you long after you put the book down.

Leave it to the splatterpunks to serve up a glorious, visceral reminder that vampires are not a bunch of heroic, black-clad figures with picky appetites.

Light at the End is one of Skipp & Spector's best works. The story of the brief, but violent life of a nihilistic vampire in New York City, and told primarily from the point of view of his would-be killers, this novel runs seamlessly from start to finish. It is both well-conceived and well-actualized, with interesting characters, lots of action, and most important, lots of thought-provoking plot.

This book is the best remedy I've found for a litarary world overflowing with Anne Ricean-clone vampires. Van Helsing would be proud.

First off, if you are sick of the Anne Rice vampires who have a cheesy accent, and whine and complain about the "dark gift" of being a vampire, then this book is for you. The vampire in this book is anything but whiny. However, if you like your vampire books with a ruthless vampire that kills without compassion, morals, or even a second thought, then this book is for you.

Skipp and Spector have a very strong writing style. Strong in that this is a real page turner filled with violence and gore around every turn. For example, just wait till you read what happens in a movie theater.

This book is pretty much out of print. I was lucky enough to find my copy at a used bookstore. I urge you to go out and hunt for this book. I can promise you that you won't be sorry.

If you like your vampires to kill without reason, then you have to start this book. You'll love every page. That I can promise you.

This was the first book by Dave Barry that I ever read. I loved it. He really captures the funny fundementals of what it means to be a guy. Now I'm hooked on Dave Barry and plan to read his other titles.

hmm..be the first to review this book the link says... I'm quite surprised no one has reviewed this yet.. well this edition of the book anyway. This was the first Dave Barry book I ever read, I was snooping around the Paul Reiser(enough with the Paul Reiser!) area in the library hoping there'd be some more funny books and found this one. Well I was not disappointed. It is.. extremely funny. It caused me to pursue further Dave Barry books, although I must say this is probably funnier than the rest. I showed bits to friends and they could not stop laughing (especially the sex bit..whoo whoo). It is a pity that Dave Barry is not really known in Australia since few people borrowed this book. I would personally promote this book vigorously to other readers but I'd just end up annoying them again. Oh what do they know. This is one of those great books where the humour is not strained like some books where you know they're trying to be funny and frankly, they're not.

Dave Barry's Complete Guide To Guys is, quite possibly, the most hilarious book I have ever read. Basically, Barry sums up all the stereotypes involving guys, not men, guys. Every page made me laugh out loud. I never got tired of it. I found myself nodding in recognition at almost everything written while I laughed until I cried. One of my personal favorite things that Dave Barry does in this book is his spectacular use of footnotes. He will have a sentence followed by a number corresponding to a footnote at the bottom of the page. It is always something hilariously random with very funny shock value. Dave Barry also includes many wonderful anecdotes on actual experiences with guy behavior, such as a bizarrely idiotic club initiation and an organization known as the Chicagoland Corvair Enthusiasts just to list a few. Anybody who is a fan of gender-related humor, either a guy or a gal, is sure to get a kick out of this fantastically entertaining work of literature.

I was impressed by the work and analysis that Francis Parkman gave to the French-Indian War and the background of the war between England and France that spilled over to the North American continent. The background of the conflict was very interesting and I learned some points about it that I hadn't known before. Not only does Parkman give detail about the struggle in the present day United States, but also the struggle for Canada. The jealousy and rivalry between England and France was enourmous and in its path alot of victims were made such as the Native Americans and English and French Colonists. Two cultures that were very similiar, yet could not exist peacefully with each other, even across the Atlantic. The British may have won this war but their troubles were only beginning in America. This book was written over a century ago, yet it's language by the author and text make it a very interesting read and is considered a classic. Very Highly Recommended to all who want to know more about the history of Colonial North America.

As has been said, Montcalm and Wolfe is Parkman's masterpiece. It was the first thourough account of the French and Indian War and contains some of the most detailed descriptions of the people, places, and events that shaped the North American theater of the first truly global conflict. Here we encounter the dramatic events which lead toward the final confrontation for dominion over the continent. We see a young Virginia Colonel named George Washington leading troops into battle for the first time at Fort Necessity, Braddock's fateful campiagn along the Monogahela, the massacres at Fort Oswego and William Henry by the Indians under Montcalm, the fall of Fort Dusquene, and finally, the culmination of many long and bloody battles, the capture of Quebec and the almost romanticized deaths of Montcalm and Wolfe at the Plains of Abraham. What is truly interesting is that we see the war through the eyes of someone still living in a time when the Indian wars of the west were still being fought and when the country was in the grip of Manifest Destiny and, as a result, Parkman is often very harsh in his views of the Indians and their "savage" ways. Yet, even so, he often gives them more credit than most of his contemporaries.

It is unforunate that today so little is taught or learned about this important event in American history. Today, it seems that the French and Indian War is all but ignored save for being mentioned as a prelude to the American Revolution which it helped spawn rather than as the major turning point in the history of North America and the world. For it is this bloody conflict, fought in the unending wilderness of America, where French regulars and courer de bois crept through the dark woods alongside painted Huron and Ottawa warriors to attack the English settlements, and young redcoated soliders marched shoulder to shoulder to their horrific deaths by rifle ball and tomahawk, that gave birth to what would become the Untied States and changed the course of world history. But even more than that, it is a fascinating period of history more powerful than any piece of fiction. This is history of the highest order. Highly recommended.

Parkman "wrote the book" on the French and Indian War and created a benchmark for historians that has stood on its merits since published in 1884. Moreover, Parkman creates a primer on making history real and exciting for the reader. His writing style bridges the century since he wrote it. This book is one of seven in Parkman's series "The French and English in North America". Each volume was intended to stand alone. This, the final and most popular volume, covers the fall of Quebec and events leading up to it. The first chapter alone, "The Combatents" does an extraordinary job of setting the scene in Europe that led to this savage wilderness war in North America. Also of interest will be the foreword which paints a vivid picture of the unusual Mr. Parkman. "Montcalm and Wolfe" reads well, provides a sense of "being there" and must be one of the great histories not only of the battle for North America, but of European history as well.

The basic mantra of this book is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" and until you let go of your anger toward your former SO, you won't heal. This message is repeated over and over, in many very helpful ways.

When I was first seperated, I was a victim of cloudy thinking, life as I knew it was over. And while that was true, it has become a spring board for personal growth and a new life. It's the no pain, no gain theory of life. While I would not advocate this life experience as good plan, if it happens to you, you might as well use it as an opportunity to grow.

While it has been a number of years since the divorce, I still found some good information about myself within the pages of this book. Plus it was an affirmation that the course I was on is the right one. (Also people thinking about getting married, might do well to read this for the information on how not to choose a mate, as Ms. Ford goes over what happened with her marriage. The misplaced expectations and poor commuincation.)

Don't believe it. This isn't just for divorcees. This book is for anyone who has fallen in love and then felt deeply betrayed -- whether by a parent, a spouse, a lover, a sibling or friend. Ms. Ford understands the pain and helps you transform bitterness and hurt into spiritual liberation and strength. Spiritual Divorce is one of the BEST books on forgiveness I have read, along with Gerald Jampolsky's Forgiveness book and the Prathers' book, Letting Go. It will change your life. But... this is one. Featuring English humour at its most incisive and similar to, but even better than, Nick Hornby's "High Fidelity", "The Best a Man Can Get" surrounds a clever storyline with more superb "one liners" than any other book I've read. Well written, and genuinely reflective on the dichotomies facing men when their lives become totally disrupted by childbirth, it's addictive and above all "funny". How good?... well my wife, children & I watched with great amusement as our (male, one loving wife, two loving children) friend completely disrupted a day and a half of our recent holiday as he raced through it, accompanied by regular and wholly disconcerting hoots of laughter. Once finished, I picked it up and read it straight through in similar time accompanied by similarly uncontrolled outbursts. It's totally "non-PC" and very "English" but it's honest, brilliantly witty and, in the end, charmingly tender. If you're male, if you shared a flat when you were younger and if you've had children, you will definitely relate to it - if not, well... treat it as an instruction manual on how men in that situation really think.

Have you ever wondered how others make it through the day? Well, John O'Farrell answers that question, and others, with hilarious, sardonic wit. This is a treasure trove of laser precision observations on life, love, and marriage, that'll have you laughing out loud.

BTW, I casually bought this book at London's Heathrow, and soon it was, "Eiffel Tower? No, no, let me just read a few more chapters..."

I enjoyed the book so much that I felt lost when I finished reading it. As a mother of two young children, I could understand what the characters were experiencing. I laughed out loud as I read the book. My husband only reads things with lots of pictures. He knew I was enjoying this wonderful book. I would stop and explain what was happening and even read small parts of the book to him (it's a start). It was so wonderfully written!

How can you not like Tina St. John's medieval romance adventures!?

WLL is another winner with Isabel on her way to her betrothed, an Earl chosen by her guardian, King Richard, only to be kidnapped by none other than Griffin of Droghallow. Her childhood hero. He has changed though; there is no more heroic and gallant behaviour from the once golden boy. Now it's only raw passion and disillusionment from a fallen angel, a lost soul. Sounds good? You bet!

In her third book, Tina St. John perfects a hero so courageous, dangerous, protective and sensual, I couldn't help but fall for him. Not only that, she toped it with a heroine who matches him in all actions and emotions,creating a perfect balance of exciting action scenes and loving tender ones. Nothing pretentious about Tina's style or her characters.

I highly recommend White Lion's Lady to all you medieval romance fans out there!

WHITE LION'S LADY is a romance to be treasured. Tina St. John shows us why she is truly one of the rising stars of romance. Griffin and Isabel's story will touch your heart from first page to last. What a smart, sexy, heart-warming story! I *loved* these characters! From the first page, Isabel and Griffin were so real and multi-dimensional. The heroine is strong, steady, and endearing. The hero is a knight with a tortured soul. He's lost his way in life, but "Izzy" has the strength to save him, and when he starts coming around, letting his true heroic side show, he is just adorable--so protective of her and willing to sacrifice everything for her. (I guess the reviewer below just didn't pick up on the nuances, but after all, Tina St. John is not a simplistic writer.) I am VERY picky and I could not put this book down.

Tina St. John has a silky-smooth writing style that makes you feel like you're there in the medieval landscape she creates, and you never know which way the plot is going to twist and turn. I was also impressed with the very believable situation she sets up which is grounded in real history. If you love top-notch romance, you need to read this book!

St. John has a true romantic's insight into the mysteries of love. Plus, few authors can balance fast-paced adventure with such deep, poignant emotion, but St. John pulls it off flawlessly. Her books are an auto-buy!

I can't wait to read Black Lion's Bride, the companion novel to this book...
