Let's Count with Nicky!
What a great way to introduce your toddler to counting! Nicky is a most curious kitten and in this book makes his way around the barnyard talking with the animals about their babies. It's odd however that Ziefert takes us on a counting adventure from one to six (and not one to five or ten). The illustrations are fun and brightly colored. Nicky is a must for my son before bedtime.

Palace Gate: Under Seige in Hue City: Tet 1968
Published in Hardcover by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (1995)
Author: Richard L. Brown
Amazon base price: $24.95
Average review score:

A Vietnam reality check
If you want to know the unvarnished, no heros, truth about the Vietnam war during the 1967-68 era, including the Tet offensive, as experienced by a Forward Air Controller living in the ancient capitol city of Hue and flying over the area between Danang, Laos and the DMZ, read this book. It includes a vivid description of the Tet battle inside the city and an account of his unauthorized return trip through Vietnam in 1988. About 90 photos nicely compliment the narrative. It moves fast and readers gain a refreshingly honest feeling of what it was like to be there.

A Perfect Day for the Tajar and Ten More Stories

Brilliant, Imaginative, Fun and Memorable Stories
Richard Brown captures your imagination and creates humorous stories that seem "to come alive" for children and adults as "The Tajar" discovers the joy of life through his many adventures in a camping environment with his friends. The "Magical Tajar" becomes a memorable, mysterious, and mischievious animal friend that spreads friendship, laughter and heartfelt joy to all who "believe" in the magic of the imagination. The author has the unique ability to create "visual images" for the readers, or listeners, as he fills the pages with imagery with his gift of writing. A wonderful book to give as a gift or to have in your own private collection!

GREAT, MUST READ, AWESOME
Mr.Brown has done it again. Soup City Bars is a MUST read. It kept me in suspense and sitting on the edge wondering what would happen next. The twist and turns in the book kept it moving fast and the description of the characters were so detailed I could picture each one of them. I look forward to reading Mr. Brown's next book.

Toward a Democratic Science: Scientific Narration and Civice Communication

Author: Richard Harvey Brown

Used price: $30.00

Brown's intervention is itself a science beyond science.
In Toward a Democratic Science, Brown opens the radical possibility of an outside to science, an outside which can already be glimpse within science, through its various rhetorical devices and means of becoming engaged and therefore more democratic. Situating the question of democracy, not within the often limited standards of political argumentation which point either to liberal or conservative sentiments (while both sides denounce any new form of socialism), Brown seeks to rescue science as the vent of the democratic, as that singular activity with which we can unravel the closures of world representation and make new ones.

Teachers: excellent for a worm unit!
This book portrays the typical reactions of students who will be studying worms. It is comical for the children to whom it may be read as well as to the adult reading it. It is an excellent read aloud. It is also a great book to share with your child whether he/she reads it alone or you read it together!
