I thought this book would be well over the head of my five-year-old son; it has more words on each page than he's used to (because it is geared for the young reader). This book is so well written that it kept his attention throughout. And when he realized that this was someone he had heard of, he was hooked. Now he wants to know about all the presidents. (He doesn't realize how many of them there are!)

I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to start their child down the path of enjoying history.

The pictures, although not as many as he was used to, helped the story along. But when he learned that this was a book about a real person, someone he had heard of, he was thrilled. He's asked me to get him more books about real people. I definitely will.

If you love your young children who are just learning about history, you owe it to yourself and to them to rush and press the order button for this classic kids' book. Lushily and lavishly illustrated, this wonderful tome details the true story of the man who would become the first president of the United States. This book is an excellent start for any young man or woman to get a grip on the early history of our great country. I am choked up as I write these words because I know this incredible book will become an heirloom that I will pass down from generation to generation. This powerful, and moving testiment to the formation of our land will never be forgotten by this impressed reader. It's simply one of the most wonderful books ever written and I thank God for its existence.

This is one of the best books I have ever read on Central Asia. Actually, it is THE best book I have ever read. Lucid, well-organized, it brings a difficult topic within the grasp of a student-scholar.

This book is a great overall of Tress' work, covering his early workes to his present ones. As an art photo teacher, its a great resource to have to show examples for assignments such as dream, light and dark, series, and shadow.
The images are wonderfully reproduced and there is a great essay describing Tress and his vision. Each section of Tress' work also has an introduction by him.

I have bought the Elephants issue and the Bats issue and these books, which come in magazine form, are very educational for kids. My 4 year old loves them, and makes me read him every word in the magazine!! Highly recommended!!

These "books" come in magazine form. They are highly educational, and satisfy my 4 1\2 year old's curiosity, while giving him facts in a very interesting way. We have the Elephants issue, and I have learned things I didn't know!!

This is a very provacative read. I found the wisdom to be insightful, inspiring, clever, thought provoking and witty. In the beginning of the book I found that Dog's owner had some resistance to their new relationship of conversing with eachother which had an impact on me as the reader. I wasn't as open to the information in the beginning but when Dog's owner relaxed into the dialogue with his Dog, I did too. I found the book rich with much depth and character. I think the topics the author covers are at the core of the human experience. Subjects that are known to all of us and often not addressed in our everyday relationships. Many opinions DOG gives seem simplistic and at the same time challenging, or not the normal way most humans think and interact in relationship. After pondering the dialogue and the points brought up such as power, love and death i felt inspired, hopeful and lighter. A greater sense of freedom and understanding of myself and others. I highly recommend this book and applaud John Wood for his courage to be open and share his wisdom. I will be sending it to friends and reading it again.

This was an easy to read book. Written in laymans terms and in a light manner but covering relationships and their complexities. Filled with insightful examples of different ways we communicate and interact with each other. Just a wonderfully smart dog, you will not be able to put it away.

40 articles by leading writers on aspects of knowledge management. The book covers the nature of Knowledge, Knowledge based strategies, Knowledge Management (KM) and organizational learning, and tools techniques and processes. They are of a uniformly high standard.

This is a very valuable reference resource in what has become a rather incoherent field - with a welter of definitions and perspectives. The Yearbook is a well balanced and well organised guide to navigation to available resources that also contains a very well chosen selection of articles to cover the various aspects of knowledge management.

Most of the articles are directed either to clarifying important concepts - for example Karl-Eric Sveiby's article on Tacit Knowledge - or to improving some aspect of practice - for example Charlotte Roberts on 'Can We Talk?', which is concerned with conversational skills. There is a wealth of useful frameworks and tools and some very useful summaries of key concepts such as the transformation that occurs between explicit and tacit knowledge. The emphasis is on human aspects of knowledge management rather than the technological end, but both receive good consideration.

In order to test the coverage, I worked through as many relevant themes as I could think of and checked whether I could find something useful on each theme. The only ones I did not find were the relatively new concern with physical design of space to enhance knowledge creation and transfer (an important part of knowledge infrastructure), and discussion of group meeting techniques for building shared understanding. That's a pretty good coverage score.

Part 5 Knowledge Management References contains:

• reviews of significant articles, • a listing of useful internet resources, with brief commentary on the content of each, • a directory of KM organisations • a directory of periodicals dealing with KM • a glossary of terms associated with KM and • a set of quotations (this last no doubt included for the benefit of speakers at the innumerable seminars and workshops on KM!)

As a student in Knowledge Engineering, assignment Knowledge Management I was searching for resources that could help me getting into Knowlege Management. The Yearbook 1999-2000 is a perfect starting point. All the main steps in managing knowledge are explained with articles from other books. By ordening the articles you can get a quick view on the ideas that are in the heads of the 'experts' of a specific subject

But that isn't the only asset of the book, it also gives a very usefull overview of companies, websites, journales etc. that are involved in knowledge management. A good roadmap to start your search for knowledge on knowledge management. And for the ones that are writing a thesis the set of quotations on Knowledge Management are a precious gift.

The Five Parts lead you into Knowledge Management and give enough pointers if your needs aren't satisfied. Mine were.

My latest out of print Suskind book finally arived today and I tore through the packaging which I let fall to the floor and I sat down and would not get up until it was finished. I had to stop every couple pages and pound the table and laugh and shake my head. When I got about halfway through, I had to get up and walk around and compose myself before continuing. I was walking around wiping my tears of joy and wondering why there aren't more people going insane over Suskind like me. I had just gladly spent 60 bucks on this out of print book. As soon as I save up more I'm going to fork over 200 more to get The Double Bass to finish my collection of his literary efforts. I wonder why everyone just stops with Perfume, they seem to like that one enough.
I'm still young and there's a lot more books beyond Suskind to be read. Maybe he won't seem so brilliant after I've more, but for now, man he's good. I've never laughed so hard at reading anything in my life as the piano lesson part of Mr. Summer's Story. This book is so beautiful. I hope Patrick Suskind continues to publish more in the future that will blow more people's minds and influence publishers to reprint these wonderful books.

This is one brilliant book. I've read it in a library about four years ago, and I still a lot of it. Read it, you'll love it. Also read The Double Bass

David Catrow takes a Thanksgiving classic for a wild ride! David Catrow is one of my favorite illustrators, and he definately puts a new spin on a classic Thanksgiving Day rhyme in this book. . .I especially love the cat!
