Interesting, but could **never** have happened
This book has the strangest premise of any plot-your-own book I have ever read. If a plot-your-own book was going to be released to tie in with Ron Howard's "Apollo 13," one might have expected that one of the real astronauts--Jim Lovell, perhaps--would be the character for whom the reader makes choices. Instead, Aber has the reader as a child living in 1970 who, in order to test a marvelous invention s/he has created, is allowed to fly on board Apollo 13 with the three astronauts. The events that ensue are, inevitably, educational for readers, but one should keep in mind that no child has ever yet been allowed to fly in space, let alone in 1970, on the third moon-landing mission, in an era when the astronaut corps was dominated by former test pilots and even the adult scientist-astronauts had great difficulty getting seats on spacecraft. And yet the astronauts in this book show not the slightest resentment or hostility toward the reader, instead welcoming him/her with open arms. I do recommend this book as an educational and entertaining work for children, but they should realize how utterly impossible its storyline is in a world where even John Glenn's return to space was highly controversial.

Writing Gear
As a new creative writing instructor I was very pleased to locate this book! It allowed my students to begin with the bits and pieces for good stories and combine them into great works. Gone are the days of students constantly saying " I don't know where to begin". This book gives them the necessary information to begin their writing and then allows them to experiment with different settings, characters and actions until they are satisfied with the end result!

Writing Gear
As a new instructor of creative writing I was very pleased to locate this book! My students were paralyzed with fear when given their first writing assignment. "Where do I start?" and "How do I establish believability?" were frequent questions. This book allowed my students to start at one specified place and work on the specific parts of their stories and then move on. It is absolutely the best textbook I have located to date!

Truly a hopeful album
Here is more from the Hopeful Gospel Quartet. Although I adore Garrison, I'm glad he is just singing and not talking in this album, unlike the other album featuring the quartet. I love listening to this encouraging album. "Life Is a Ball Game" is the only song that rubs me the wrong way, a little too juvenile. But the rendition of "I bid you goodnight" is so incredibly sweet. "How great thou art" and "Just a closer walk with thee" are two more songs that are beautifully done by this quartet. It is hard to find simple gospel sounds and the old hymns featured on this album are worth the money.

Clever and Complete Research Design-Brilliant Work!
New to the statistical and methodological side of research in psychology I found this book a little difficult. That said, it was understandable. Clearly, the researchers were "standing on the shoulders of their forefathers" and at the same time engineering a piece of research which will make you (especially you non-psychoanalytics) think twice about the reality of a human unconscious. This validating piece of work will be of interest to advanced psychology and counseling theory students and researchers. One can skim the studies and get the gist of the design, procedures and results.

Audio CD Version
I listened to an Audio CD version of the play and I regret to say that I found it unmoving. The Brooklyn accents of the characters seemed to fade in and out on occasion and they deep dark revelations about their personal lives seemed to be revealed without much emotion most of the time.

I really had high hopes for the drama but felt it was more gimmick than gripping.

Broken Glass
I found Broken Glass interesting but disappointing. One expects the film to hold a much deeper secret and comes away from it thinking "This story has already been told." The three main actors, Margot Leicester, Mandy Patinkin and Henry Goodman, are all marvelous and far better than the script allows. I found Elizabeth McGovern a rather strange choice for the role of Dr.Hyman's wife. I own this film because I'm a huge Mandy Patinkin fan, but I wouldn't have spent the money otherwise.

The Complaint Department
The dimensions of healing placed in contradistinction to the tyranny of complaint.

The old bait-and-switch
I picked up this book because I was looking for practical advice about weaning. Hey, with a title like "The Nursing Mother's Guide to Weaning," that's pretty much what you would expect, right? A "guide to weaning"? Apparently not. Instead I found page after page of guilt-inducing arguments as to why I should nurse, nurse, nurse my daughter until she was well into the preschool years, and that she would somehow be damaged if I did not. Even a full year of breastfeeding is far, far less than your child truly needs and deserves, this book implies. Look, I have impeccable breastfeeding credentials. I wound up exclusively nursing my first daughter for more than a year, until she weaned herself. We didn't even start solids until she wanted to, at 7.5 months. My second daughter is 6.5 months and has never had a drop of formula. I'm even pumping all the milk for her cereal. Like every mother I know, I'm doing the best I can for my kids. But if I make the difficult decision to wean, and decide to buy a book to help me through the process, why should the author try to talk me out of it? Why does she assume I haven't already put a great deal of time and thought into the decision? Perhaps a better title would have been, "If You're Thinking About Weaning." Then she'd probably do a better job of reaching what seems to be her intended audience: long-term breastfeeders who really don't want to wean but are feeling pressured to do so.

The rest of us who already know our own minds are likely to find this tract a bit grating. Enough guilt for now, please! This is the kind of stuff that gives the La Leche League a bad name.

Long on theory, short on guidance
I bought and returned this book because it's not for me. I have been nursing my daughter for almost 10 months and bought it for guidance on balancing solids, breastmilk, and eventual weaning, but there was very little practical information. It contains interesting discussions of nursing and lots of refutations of potential reasons for weaning. While some are valid, the book spends a lot of time trying to talk women out of their feelings. I think a happy mother is as important to a toddler's development as time at a breast, so if a woman feels it's time to wean, I think she deserves support, not "here's why you shouldn't feel that way."

I had to wean my first daughter at 4 months because of a medical problem and I'm glad I hadn't read this book then; I had enough guilt. At present, I'm committed to giving my baby the "most beautiful, most natural, immunologically and nutritionally sound, etc." form of feeding during her infancy but I'm not sure that means I should still be nursing her four years from now. Enough with the pressure.

A Good Source of Info on Weaning and Weaning Techniques
This book begins with a fascinating chapter on the history and sociology of Breastfeeding and Weaning [and the politics as well!]. I found that very interesting. More than 90 pages of the book are devoted to how to wean a baby who is less than 12 months old - which might be helpful to many moms, but is useless to anyone who is nursing a baby older than that. I found the book to be VERY honest and direct on both the pros and cons of weaning in each age category [0-4 mos, 5-12 mos, 1-2 yrs, 3 and older]. The author was very supportive of a mother's wish to wean [or not], regardless of her reasons and gave the facts about the benefits and costs of the decision in a very forthright and non-judgemental fashion. She included a huge number of practical tips on weaning in different situations and for different reasons. She offered information on every choice available without judgement - including some methods condemned by most Breastfeeding Advocates - such as weaning by "abandonment", applying disgusting or pain-inducing substances to the breast to traumatize the baby out of wanting to nurse, and weaning by frightening the baby. I didn't care for those methods, but she was certainly honest and thorough on ALL the options available. She gave many, many tips on methods that might be more healthy for the baby as well, and I felt the book was very complete.

forget this book
I bought 3 books on the subject all were better then this. this is about "alternative" medicine. forget it. i through it out.

Very Informative
I suggest that you keep an open mind about skin cancer and that there are much better methods of curing skin cancer, especially basal cell and squamous cell cancer and also keratosis. I had keratosis on the back of my thigh and also I have a history of skin cancer. After I read the book, I placed an order of the medication mentioned in the book and used it. Guess what? The stuff mentioned in the book REALLY works. I am tired of the butchery of the dermatologists. Of course, I still go to a dermatologist for checkups but I refuse to let him butcher me!!!!!!!!!!!

Thorough review material
If you have not been near a Biology syllabus in a while, this is the book for you. The authors do not assume that you know everything. The chapters cover all the major topics (the only supplementation you may need is diagrams such as those of plants). I found that the practice tests could have been better structured because the Ecology tests are separated from the Molecular tests without the common core section that's used in the actual exam. All in all, a good book - using this book alone I earned a score of 660!
