Stringfellow's prose is a joy to read. His thoughts on justice are timeless. Though he died in the mid-eighties, his comments shed light on social issues commonly discussed today. A Harvard educated lawyer going to practice in Harlem in the late forties was absolutely revolutionary at the time.... probably still is. A wonderfully droll sense of humor gives this social activist ornery Episcopalian a great edge. This book also gives one an interesting review of what was happening in the 60's and 70's among theologically aware folks.Hard to put down, it's very much a personal memoir within essays.

Dr. Craig offers a number of compelling reasons for accepting the historicity of both the empty tomb and resurrection of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels. Extensive references to the primary literature are provided for those who wish to do further study. A "must read" title, particularly for those who have questions about the veracity of orthodox Christianity.

Forget John maxwell, and every other author who takes 200 pages to say what Beausay states in 59 brilliant stories. I bought 10 to give to my staff, and my business is taking a turn for the best.

This book by Mr. Turner is a must read for anyone in business, especially anyone in a leadership or management position who desires to know more about the art of leading people. A wonderfully organized book, including a reflective piece at the end of each chapter with passing thoughts for further contemplation. A rare treat hidden at the end of Chapter 2 gives the reader a unique look at some of the thoughts handed down by Bill Turner's grandfather, Mr. William Clark Bradley. These nuggets alone are worth the price of the book. I'm sure I have heard many of these maxims quoted over the years. Admittedly, some surprised me with the wisdom contained. Mr. Bill Turner is an artist who paints before the reader's eyes a portrait - a deeply moving family portrait that is intensely personal. One has the feeling they have been invited into the Turner home, given a cup of tea or a cold Coca-Cola, and handed the family scrapbook. The value of the book goes far beyond the warm and personal reflections, and even the important historical content. The book is woven with Mr. Turner's values. It lets us look at the heart of an executive who has lived his life under the guiding principle of love. His relationships, both business and personal are a set of luminaries in a dark night, showing us the way to better personal relations, and more effective leadership. I learned a lot about a servant's heart from Mr. Turner. Moreover, I have used, and will continue to use, the principles he teaches in this book to become a better manager and steward in my business life and a better man in my personal life. This book belongs in the personal library of every man who leads people. My prayer is that it will also find its way into many school libraries. This book will not disappoint. It is a great read, warmly written and containing very valuable insight.

OUTSTANDING! This book should be required reading for anyone who can read and is even of modest maturity. Written with simplicity, yet wisdom, even a 14 year old would get tremendous value out of reading this book, and a 50 year old, even more. Backus, by taking the reader through simply exercises, helps the reader to better understand the cause and affect of their emotions. (Yes, the mind can mistake the cause of unpleasantries, as Backus so vividy explains; and why this is so.) By gaining a better understanding of his/her emotions, and their causes, the reader is equipped with tools to respond, not react, in a healthier, more positive way to outside/past circumstances. PLUS, with the new "emotional handling tools", the reader quickly find herself/himself becoming much less frustrated and emotionally exasperated with the realities of life, past, and relationships. William Backus does it again, producing a full scale, level 10, class 1, five star devotional tool. I would recommend it to EVERY ONE.

Oh how we need to soak in this instruction by Spurgeon ! He always uses God's word as his tool, for therein lies the power. If you read this book, the Holy Spirit will show you in your own heart the work and revival in YOU HE is wanting to do. He is Able and He is willing. Spurgeon seems a giant in the faith~but he is always humble, sharing with his readers his own need for the very things he writes. Get this book..seek the Lord...and let the revival begin with you !

Letters written to his friends on the inner journey. Fr. Johnston gives us several letters depicting his trips to Asia, Europe and America.

He sheds some light on his travels but most importantly gives us many lessons on Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism and the importance of dialogue. Dialogue is the key for all nations to grow in love, peace and understanding. Dialogue among all people's, religious or non-religious.

"To be or not to be", that is the essence of Fr. Johnston's message. Mysticism is for everyone, all one has to do is let go and be in God's presence or another's presence and than we experience oneness.

Can a Christian rationalize faith? Can one come to terms with the Lord and Savior with 99.9% confirmation and 0.1% doubt, or know Jesus through intellectual thought? Or must it ALL be done by faith? Dr. Williams, my current professor of Philosophy... made every student in my class purchase a 25-30 page booklet called "Why Think?: Christian Perspectives on the Life of the Mind" which is what he sent into the publishing company that ended up publishing it (he wrote a bit more to it) and now it is this book! I read it for class, and came to terms with rationalization and where it is supposed to fit with the Christian. Can Christians be thinkers? I don't see why not, in fact I rebuke those in the name of the Lord who don't want to think. This book turns blind faith into complete sight, almost as if Jesus Himself has healed our blindness and given reason as to why we can believe: knowledge. It is a gift from God and besides showing this in his lectures..., he shows it in this book.

I am a seminary student and long-time Christian who was powerfully affected by this book. It illuminates truths on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in ways that are both understandable and compelling. If you are searching for a greater joy and satisfaction in your Christian walk, this is a powerful aid with a combination of intense Scriptural research/hard-hitting insights and humor. Well worth the price.

What a great little book! It was refreshing to read a book about child training that used a simple strightforward approach to raising children...the same methods from the Bible used by our grandparents and their parents. Liberal parenting methods that came about in the 50's and 60's have resulted in bedlam in America's homes, which has moved out into the schools and the streets. This book will be quite a shock to folks like me who were raised by Dr. Spock, and may seem harsh to some, but the methods described in the book seem loving and intended only for the welfare of the child's body and soul! Easy to read and understand, it includes thought-provoking questions meant to lead to honest introspection (in the 'warning signs' section) about one's own child rearing results. It even includes ways to deal with fussy eaters, teaching courtesy and respect, and good manners (all but forgotten). It's a tough little book, and will stand up to the huge volumes filled with sappy advice like time-outs, and the dance-on-eggshells-around-your-kids approach to parenting today. I recommend this little book to any parent who wants to be challenged to raise better children in a sinful world.
