I like the book but it is not as "scholarly" as many
I bought this book because it is not difficult to access the information I want and the illustrations are edited to apply only to the topic under scrutiny. Many of the books about palmistry show illustrations of the palm with all the possible lines at once. This is very confusing for me when I seek a particular piece of information I want at that moment. I am a working psychic and find that palmistry is much desired by the public, so have been working with it recently. Many of the books which I have read use such technical vocabulary and involved and complex explanation that I feel that I'm back in grad school. This book is well organized, easy to understand, and very explicit. The illustrations pertain only to the topic under discussion at that time and thus, are not subject to confusion and misunderstanding.

Negative points, it is not very detailed in some of the explanations, and does not cover the topic in great depth.

An excellent book for a beginner or someone who wants to locate specific information quickly and find the necessary facts simply presented.

Great for beginers like me.
I got this book because I was writing a research paper on palmistry. Out of the five books and two web sites I used as sources, this one was the most informative. Some of the books were witten as if they were trying to confuse the reader. This one had interseting anecdotes and asy to follow illustrations and discriptions.

The Best Palmistry Book EVER
I've been learning to read palms for 3 years and I have read a lot of palmistry books, a few of which were truly helpful. The first step is to get a good reference book (THIS ONE)!! I learned so much from this book that I actually wrote the author and thanked him. He was kind enough to write back. He lives in Australia and seems like a really cool guy. This book is simple and to the point, easy to follow, great for taking notes from. I would also recommend getting Health in Your Hands by Lori Reid.

I was somewhat disappointed with this book. It didn't contain as many layouts as I expected and its definitions of the cards were somewhat lacking in breadth. However, the book spoke in simple terms and broke down the cards into their suits and numbers so that their meanings were easier to understand. I learned the significance of higher or lower numbers predominating in a spread, as well as black or red cards. This book has added to my knowledge of cartomancy, but I probably wouldn't buy it again.

Easiest Book I Ever Read On Fortune Telling With Cards
Most books on the topic of fortune telling with cards usually fall under two main catagories: they are either 1. too complicated or 2. they [are no good]!

This book is fabulous. Tarot card reading has a very slow learning curve and you would think that playing cards would be worst. But this book shows you how to do amazing readings with a plain-old-ordinary deck of playing cards.

I really like Richard Websters style of writing. He doesn't come across as a guru or greater-than-thou teacher. He writes like he's your buddy and sincerely wants to teach you his simple systems.

I wish the book were a bit longer, but I guess that would defeat the purpose. If you are looking for a great book that will teach you a terrific card reading system that will impress you and your friends and make you popular, then I'd suggest that you get this book.

It's awesome.

Lack of pronunciation guide renders many entries worthless.
With all the polysyllabic terms in French, Italian and German, and the dozens of East European composers and conductors, I would like a "dictionary" of music to show me how to pronounce them. If the standard Webster's dictionary assumes I cannot pronounce c-a-t, why does their dictionary of music assume I can pronounce Dvorak, Kuijken or ripieno?

Great info
I found that this dictionary, just from a quick glance at it in a store, was perfect for what I needed(which was both studying, and composing). It gave great information on composers, theory, and the ranges of most instruments(including ethnic instruments such as the er-hu and sitar).

A Fun Way To Success! Excellent Book!
Science has proven that writing down your goals greatly increases the chance of them becoming a reality.

Richard Webster shows you how to use "white magic" to achieve your dreams and goals in this delightful and fun book. His writing style is amazing... everything is clear, as though he is personally guiding you along.

I've tried out some of the sacred words and the results are interesting to say the least.

Get this book. It's fun, and your future could depend on it! :-)

A good book for a beginner in Feng Shui
"One Joy Scatters a hundred griefs" Chinese proverb.
By opening his preface with this quote, Richard Webster lays the basis of Feng Shui down. He has a theory that you have to be happy before any kind of change can take place.
He touches on what a 'shar' is, how to overcome even the smallest problems with Feng Shui remedies and explains the 'magic square'.
This book is nicely illustrated with line drawings and examples of 'pa-kua mirrors' (which should only be used outside), trigrams and the Magic Square. He also includes the Cycle of Production of the Five Elements (fire, earth, metal, water and wood) and the Cycle of Destruction of the Five elements. He is very thorough and even a rank beginner can understand it.

I would recommend this book for someone who is interested in Feng Shui and wants to have a basis to get started.

Richard Webster explains thoroughly what Feng Shui means, how you can affect small changed in your life and how Feng Shui will help you. He includes a couple of case studies from people he has worked with toward the end of the book as well.

From reading this book, my interest in Feng Shui is more piqued and I will be reading other books to get more information.

Feng Shui In The Garden by richard webster
I found this book to be clear, concise and easy to read. Most of Richard Webster's books are like this. The ideas and suggestions were easy to follow, and didn't go too deeply into the whole history of each "feng shui" rule and principle for each idea, which I like. I am the type of person who likes to read a BIT of the history, and be able to apply it quickly. I do not like a whole lot of "long-figuring" to apply a concept. This book appealed to that characteristic. Simple solutions for simple questions. If you like a deeper "why and wherefor" of feng shui in the garden, you better go to Lillian Woo(?) Webster's book will appeal to people who want a quick overview and want to start using basics of feng shui IMMEDIATELY. One does NOT have to be a feng shui master to ubderstand this book.

A cornerstone of my travel library
This is the 2nd edition of her book and I just found out there is a new edition dated Feb., 2000, which I plan to buy immediately. An excellent starting point - this book will save you a lot of research time when planning a trip and will help you immediately pinpoint the best dining and accomodation choices. It's one of the first books I turn to when planning a trip or where to eat and has given me ideas for other trips (e.g. Brandywine Valley and Wilmington). The writeups are accurate and give a sense of the foods and surroundings. My only criticism is that the photography could be better. But then, the reader can always follow up by visiting an establishment's web site (if they have one).

Easy Reading
101 Feng Shui Tips for the Home is a very nice, 'user friendly'& informative book on Feng-Shui. Helpful to both the beginner and intermediate Feng-Shui practitioner.

Gives Excellent Tips that worked for me
Although I didn't even know what Feng Shui was when my wife bought the book, I have gotten really into it because of the difference it has made in our lives. Thank you Richard Webster. The book is easy to read and understand and if you are not familiar with Feng Shui now, you will be when you finnish the book. Good solid advice. Excellent tips. A great starting point. Well worth the price

Excellent and well-structured guide for the novice
I am very new to feng shui but I wanted to learn more about it and incorporating it into my existing life. I liked the concepts of "The Celestine Prophecy" very much, and was interested in finding out how to maximize "ch'i", which seemsvery similar to the "energy" in CP. 101 Feng Shui Tips was extremely helpful to me. Not only did it explain the basic tenets of feng shui and the underlying philosphy about "ch'i" in a logical way, it provided practical guidance for analyzing your own space. Since I live in an apartment, the room by room discussions were very useful and applicable. I also like how the book didn't require you to have already a "perfect feng shui space". It gave a lot of pointers for maximizing good characteristics AND offsetting less than desirable characteristics. I wouldn't say I'm an expert now, by any means, but I feel like I have some general, practical ideas to use, now. I've heard he's coming out with a book directed specifically to apartment dwellers and I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!

Unfortunately disappointing
Although I am not overlooking the fact that this book can assist you to achieve an astral travel, this book is quite colorless. I declass this book for two main reasons: 1.Dullness:This author swamps us and just goes on and on with historical stories and not much fun "astral-talk" that keeps you enraptured. Mr. Webster writes this book but does not put passion into it, and for an avid reader like me, that is somehow thwarting. I view this book as more of a pocket reference book, not a metaphysical classic. You want an astral travel book which you read from cover to cover and 2,000 times, on the contrary if you wish to read paranormal bed time stories at night, I highly recommend this one. 2:Work Ethics:Mr. Webster condones espionage upon people and forewarns the reader becuase the person might see your phantom (What? you aren't supposed to be there in the first place!) I don't know about you, but my loved ones might mistaken me for the boogeyman and be frightened. Also making lots of fame when you go through time to entitle you as a prophet, people should astral travel to gain cosmic consciousness or finding missing children and not being famous with petty vanities. Mr. Webster, spying (or "checking out" as you say) on people is morally wrong and it seems like you need some polishing. I hold nothing personal agains you but as a up-standing US citizen I must confess "You owe everying a mother and a parent have ever accomplished. "If you get this book, decide you what is right, but this book with determination, can help you get an OBE with over a donzen methods.

pretty good book
this was a good descriptive book with several different methods of leaving the body...i liked the fact that the author stressed that your beliefs, doubts and fears shaped your astral world while you travel...i have found this to be true...i do, however, think he could have included more detailed personal experiences for comparison, to give you a better idea of some of the things he mentioned.

The odds of becoming an astral traveler?
This book would probably work quicker and best for those people who are able to practice and build skill quickly.

It explains how to build your skills and lead up to astral projection which in turn leads up to talking to other astral travelers or dead souls or perhaps traveling through time and space in an instance or traveling to parallel plains of existence.

I would estimate that for a person like myself it would take about 3 months of about four 4 hour sessions per week.

But, at my level of motivation it would take about 10 years of occasional practice before I can use this book to astral travel.

However, some people have the natural ability and only lack the knowledge to astral travel, and for those people this book would supply that knowledge and they would be able to astral travel very quickly.

I on the other hand will have to build my skill before I can astral travel.

Luckily, the book teaches you how to develop those skills you need.
