AN OPUS MAGNUM
This being the condensed version and so exhaustive in scope, I shudder to think what a mountain of reading the unabridged Forbidden Archaeology must entail. Part One deals with anomalous evidence in the form of bones, eoliths, paleoliths and neoliths and goes on to discuss artifacts and manufactured objects found in ancient strata, plus human skeletal remains. Part Two casts a critical eye on the accepted evidence and demonstrates convincingly how flimsy the evidence of scientific orthodoxy often is. There is also a chapter on Cryptozoology and a final look at the latest finds from Africa. The book is served well with tables summarizing anomalous evidence related to human antiquity, a good index and a massive bibliography of 27 pages. Black and white photographs and illustrations enliven the text. The authors have eloquently made their case in the most thorough and complete detail. But I must add that this doesn't always ensure "jouissance" in the reading experience, as of necessity there must be a lot of repetition. Nevertheless, a magnificent achievement and an excellent reference work.

Interesting Collection of Anomalies
This book is an excellent resource book (along with those of William Corliss) for "forgotten evidence" about human development. The authors' greatest service is to list and document all these anomalous discoveries and reported discoveries. It does cause one to question current evolutionary ideas.

While I find it refreshing that the authors do not believe in either evolution or "creation science", this book does not convince me to discard my belief that evolution is a fact, a natural process of life on any planet with living things. I seriously suggest that scientists investigate the evidence put forth, however there may not be sufficient trained personnel or funding for that. Also, a lot of scientists appear to be getting a fundamentalist-type mindset about science; this impedes finding the truth.

The major flaw of the book is the authors' tendency to hit the reader over the head with their observations that the finds they present are not accepted by orthodox science (an "ortho doxy"?) and the suppression of evidence over the decades. Okay, fellas, make your point in the introduction, but, PLEASE, don't keep repeating it ad nauseam.

I hope Mr. Cremo and Mr. Thompson continue to research anomalous evidence in science.

Excellent anti-evolution book
While this is an outstanding reference guide for anyone seeking the unreality behind the theory of evolution, it is NOT a quote-on-quote "creationist" book, and it does not have a Judeo-Christian agenda. Indeed, while the many, many artifacts and other examples showcased in this guide are all factual, the authors seek to bring them to light only for the purpose of clearing the way for some quasi-New Age religion, which, it should be noted, is hardly ever mentioned beyond the Introduction and Acknowledgements chapter. Thus, the book's AFFECT does not seem to bolster their religion, but does excellently deliver a blow of instability to the theory of evolution itself. In so doing this book presents its nature as cannibalism among the religions of the dying, albeit a form in this case highly advantageous to creationism. Besides its pagan beliefs, the only other flaw preventing this book from becoming a creationist must-have is that it seems to accept that the Earth is millions and millions of years old. In summary, The Hidden History of the Human Race is an excellent resource for any creationist, despite its somewhat annoying pagan overtones. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

One on One with Jack Welch
Published in Audio CD by NPBI (01 May, 2002)
Authors: Mark Thompson and Richard Wilson
Amazon base price: $17.99
Average review score:

Disappointing.
This was my first "Jack Welch" Book/CD purchase. I bought this based on the first two reviews and was very disappointed. Reasons: 1) Way to short. 2) Nothing here that I didn't know or for most management types wouldn't already practice based on common sense. 3) I felt this CD was really a product plug for other Mark Thompson, Richard Wilson products. Especially at the end of the CD when they plug their stuff. 4) Jack is hard to understand, his voice is rough and his pronunciation is not clear. It is probably worth 2 stars, but I had to try and off-set the over-rated reviews. Are the first two reviews by the authors?

MBA on steroids
Forget everything you've heard or read about Jack Welch. This is by far the best way to capture the freshest insights from the man himself all in under an hour. One-on-One with Jack Welch is like getting the best of your MBA over lunch.

Best Jack Welch Audio
People either seem to love or hate Jack Welch. I happen to be a fan. He built GE into world power house and in this interview he gives most of the principles that were his foundation.

I greatly preferred this audio book over the others I've heard. Instead of someone else talking about Jack, or him reading his book to you, you actually get to hear him talking and telling his stories in a realistic conversation.

The rapport between the interviewer and Jack was good. The informal style made it quite listenable. The short segments made it easy to listen to while I commute.

Overall an excellent choice.

This book leaves something to be desired
I have been reading this book for a class. I must say that this book is not as detailed as I would like it to be. I am an engineer and my expectation was that when a statement is made details would be provided to backup the statements. And the figures in the book are not easy to understand quickly. There must be a better book out there.

Excellent Resource
As an ASQ certified Mechanical Inspector and Quality Technician, I would like to say that; This text is a fine resource for any person working in the metrology field. It covers a wide range of topics and is well worth having. Written in a style that is both informatve AND interesting. I was well pleased with this book.

Great book for dimensional calibration technicians
This book would be useful to any machinist, but it is specifically written for the dimensional calibration technician, a wealth of practical, useful information. Thanks.

The Only Game in Town
This book is worthwhile simply because it is the only one out on the subject. But there are few revelations, it merely conslidates information that has appeared in articles and interviews over the years. The interviews are rewarding, but should have been edited for coherence and attribution. The writing is trite, hackneyed, and the author too frequently inserts himself and his very biased opinions into the story. And a number of factual blunders calls all the apparent research into question. Disappointing, sometimes apalling, but the only game in town.

Good Enough
There isn't much information out there about Richard Thompson. As such, this book fills in a lot of empty spaces for me; however, compared to similar books about other musicians it is pretty tame. The best aspect of this book is that it had the cooperation of the subject as well as many of RT's friends and fellow musicians which many similar books do not. Overall, it is a nice book about a very under-rated musician.

Good for fans - otherwise, get the albums
If you're reading this it's probably because you are a Richard Thompson fan. And if you are a real fan, you should get this because: 1) There are no other Richard Thompson biographies (books) 2) It has good reference material in the appendices (although inevitably it's out of date) 3) No one's going to get rich off of writing a Richard Thompson bio, and we should support whoever makes the effort, espcially when it's not THAT expensive 4) You will find out something(s) you didn't know [Afghanistan & "Shoot Out the Lights"; scrabble; "Walking on the Wire" was before the breakup] 5) This book looks like it might be going out of print. Get it while you can. HOWEVER: A good biography makes the person come alive; it succeeds as a story on its own. This doesn't make it on that level. (Yeah, it does have an index [required] but the index didn't have Pentangle, mentioned several times in the text...) SO there's my Caveat Emptor. The passersby could bypass this with no worry; but if you're a fan....

A must read read book for political scientists
In this collection of essays in honor of Professor Aaron Wildavsky you may found and interest approach the the cultural theory. Eventhough it is a very good compilation of about the relationship among culture and politics, it lacks of the relation culture-development, which must be seen as the forgotten piece in the definition of development models and theories in the next century. However this is a must read book for every political science student and for political scientis, politicians and academicians. but it need to be more developed the relation culture-development in order to understand why some nation develop better than others.
