Instructor
Great book for all Industrial engineers. It does not get completely complicated and relates directly to common day industry practices.

A classic field handbook for manufacturing professionals
This textbook, which has been around for a number of years and has undergone a few revisions, has become the standard preparatory text for APICS tests and college-level production/operations management courses in dozens of universities.

The content is very broad - it covers almost the entire gamut of P/OM topics to some degree. That may be the only drawback to this book: it so broad in its topical coverage that there may be examples where the authors could have gone deeper in their presentation on specific subjects.

But even so, this charactertistic of being "100 miles wide and a few miles deep" works very well for readers who need a comprehensive primer on P/OM. That would include people just entering the field, or those that need to undestand the primary subject matters and areas of study, to point them in new directions.

I highly recommend this book as a foundation reference guide to your business library. Again, I know of many books that may be deeper in specific areas of P/OM, but I know of no book that encompasses so many topics and does and admirable job of presenting those topics. I would also caution the seasoned, highly-read P/OM professional in buying this book, but leave it for those newcomers to the field.

An excellent reference and resource - A "current classic"
This book is a classic: depth of information over a broad body of knowledge.

The error mentioned by another reviewer appears on p. 488: the "L-bar" term should be squared. Verifying dimensional homogeneity [i.e.that units of measure calculate consistently across the expression and result in "items" {whatever units demand is carried = units of safety stock}]) would alert a reader quickly that the product in the first term is incorrect.

Crime Scene Investigation
As a former police reserve officer, I spent years requesting CSI with little understanding of just what they do. This book goes well beyond lifting fingerprints and other routine tasks that police officers are typically limited to. I now have a better awareness of the capabilities of CSI and conciderations about how to protect a scene and how CSI can be used to investigate certain crimes. I also have a greater appreciation for CSI personnel and the difficult job they have. I liked the book and believe it would be helpful to anyone in law enforcement.

Crime Scene Investigation
This is a very good introductory Criminal Justice text. It is easy to see that the authors targeted the general introductory cj students and those interested in exploring the field of crime scene investigation. Basic terms and proceedures are presented in clear everyday science based applications. This text uses understandable charts, graphs and photos to enhance crime scene applications. This text is clearly not for those who are working at the graduate level, but it clearly meets the needs of the student who is surveing forensic opportunties. Good job

Good introductory book.
I found this book to be a solid introduction into the varied and complex field of CSI. It presented a balance between basic and advanced techniques. The authors state this book was written for students considering CSI and those currently in the field and I agree. It provided a refresher in some areas and exposed me to new concepts in others. I also liked the community-policing feel of this text as it relates to addressing the needs of victims. The book is easy to follow and contains many photographs. I recommend it to anyone considering a job in CSI or to enhance their skills. I also read the first edition. This one seems to be much improved.

Valuable Reference
This book is a valuable reference for slope stability. The second edition is an improvement from the first edition, but dosen't make the first obsolete. Some great information, including example problems, on probabilistic analysis has been added and there is a little more on 3D and finite element analysis. Probably not enough changes from the first edition to make you need this one, unless you have some specific questions about one of the new chapters (see the table of contents). Numerous references are provided to allow further research of a particular topic.

This book together with Landslides : Investigation and Mitigation (Special Report (National Research Council (U.S.). Transportation Research Board), 247) make up a great reference set for slope stability.

Decent Introductory Text .
An good overview of basic soil mechanics and slope stability methods/concepts... a good introductory book. A large majority of chapters deal with more traditional geology and soil mechanics knowledge (ie. groundwater conditions, geologic site exploration and lab testing) and really only two good chapters on stability methods (6&7)... it would have been nicer to have more discussion of the chart solutions and more detailed case studies as examples for each method(the examples are generally simple and kept short)... it should be mentioned that the two chapters do include a fair amount of material ...but i found myself going to some of the references listed in the back of each chapther for more information...

A Great Into into Slope Stability
This book is great for engineers trying to learn Slope Stability Analysis on their own, or for instruction in the classroom. The book talks about field invesigation techniques, anylitical analysis, and new computer methods including X-Stable. This book is a must for any Geotechnical Engineer.

Wintrobe's Clinical Hematology, 2 volume set
Although this is an excellent textbook for medical students and hematology fellows who need to learn more about certain topics and diseases, it offers limited assistance to the clinician who has to work backwards from lab results and symptoms in search of diseases. It covers the molecular biology of hematology in great detail and also discusses some of the treatment options. It is a great book if you are doing a paper on a hematologic topic. There are also chapters on the new techniques used in labs and the differences in these techniques. On the other hand, if you are looking at abnormal results on a CBC, this book may not offer much help.

Wintrobe's Clinical Hematology
A comprehensive text of practical clinical hematology. Clearly and concisely written for use as a reference or 'at the bench.' One of the most useful materials in the Hematology laboratory.

A good haematology reference
This book is written primarily for the laboratory, and the haematologist. In that area it is excellent, for clinical treatment, williams or other books are better. But for the laboratoru I would reccomend this book, as I have this and several of the previous editions.

A Beginners Guide
Overall this is a very good book to read if you are wanting a basic level of knowledge. It effectively presents a great deal of cases in a well structured layout. However, it is not for law students so much as undergrad. The level of analysis is usually kept on the basic side. Before each case there is usually historical backgrounds leading up to actual case. This helps the reader to have an idea of what the issues before the Court were in that particular case. In closing, I think this book does a great job of showing that there is more to decision making in the Courts than just the legal issues.

Constitutional Law Textbook being put to use frequently
I am currently using this textbook for my Constitutional Law class at Winthrop University, and i would like to comment that the book is very well written and easily read. The one problem that i have is that the Opinions of the court are not complete, but only the highlights have been stated, as completely understandable, but I find the extra information also informative when trying to write papers on the Opinions, not just the highlights. I otherwise think that the book is superb and quite helpful in my class.

Easier than the Bowne Redbook
As a new corporate finance attorney, I love using this book from my Securities Regulation class versus the standard issue Bowne redbook. With the friendlier font and more manageable weight, I would stick with this and just consult your law firm's red book to be sure the regulation hasn't been changed during the year.

A good read
It isn't dry, which makes most other texts so laborious to go through & study. It had to be planned this way because it was well thought out in this manner. This is not only a text on language and/or grammar - it's also insightful on psychology, sociology & philosophy. It purposefully has thought-provoking exercises throughout. This text was used in my English grammar class. It was lent to me so that I didn't have to buy it new (lots of expense on texts at the beginning of semesters)- but I couldn't find anyone willing to sell theirs(here)-they all wanted to keep their copy. To me that says alot, there are a lot of textbooks that you see that are resold & resold after the semesters are over, but this book wasn't ever included the timeS I was looking for it.
