Excellent story, amazing illustrations!
This book is short, but sweet. The illustrations are nothing less than astonishing and the plot is very good.

Kitsch as Art
Steven Arnold (died 1994) was a master of drama. He used his camera to concoct bizarre fantasies rich in imagination and overflowing with props. He had no fear as far as subject matter and he painted is often nude models, draped, positioned and manipulated them, and the results are like Rorschach tests - often bipartite views that serve to make the eye investigate while it is titilating. Other phototographers have used the staged studio setup (Joel Peter Witkin is the most familiar of these), but few have pulled off the theatical, operatic, erotic images like Steven Arnold. This is a priceless book that can be enjoyed on many levels. A definite collectors item!

First Uncensored View of the T-72
Steve Zaloga is one of the leading scholars on Russian and Warsaw Pact armor, and this book was one of the first to take advantage of the new information that became available after the fall of the Soviet Union. It traces the development of the weapon and its deployment by Russia, its allies, and the third world customers who bought the export versions. Zaloga also reveals the Soviet designations for the various subtypes. The Russian obsession with secrecy meant that many spurious designations appeared in NATO manuals on the subject, and the author finally clears up the actual designations of the variant models. The T-72's poor performance in combat is examined and the reasons are discussed, and it is compared to its design rivals, the T-64 and the T-80. There is a nice selection of pictures of all subtypes, and a color center section by artist Peter Sarson shows the markings and camouflage of the vehicle. This title is aimed at model builders, wargamers and those with a casual interest in military technology, but the format is too limited for the dedicated historian or defense analyst.

Excellent and authoritative account of Africa's vultures.
"The Vultures of Africa" is a comprehensive guide to the eleven species of vulture found on the continent. This book covers not only the natural history and behavior of the individual species but looks at the group as a whole. In addition, comparisons and contrasts are made between the species. The interrelationship between vulture and man is also covered as well as conservation issues which concern these birds. A high informative book on the subject and is highly recommended for anyone with an interest in these unique birds.

Easy to follow, felt much better
I read the book, and did the program. The first day of not eating was easy - it was the second day that was tough (I got very cranky). After that, it's really easy to follow. I found that I had more energy, needed less sleep, and didn't crave muffins and bread as I normally do. The only problem with the book is that some of the food/supplement advice was a bit sketchy. For example, it tells you that you're not allowed soy beans, but you're allowed soy products (but gives no specific examples). Also, it refers you to the ecotox website, where there is supposed to be info. on where you can buy rice products and ask questions, but all it is is a site where you can order the book and read the intro. All in all, I'd recommend this program for anyone who is getting ready to diet. After a week of following the program, any diet you choose to follow will be a cinch to follow, and you'll have the will power to do it.
Healthy and easy way to detox - finally!
After using primarily fasting as a way to detox in the past, this book provided me with a much easier way to detox by combining fasting, as well as a careful produce/rice diet to continue the detox process without fasting. I knew what to expect, and my cravings for 'bad' foods went away, and while I had some trouble finding "rice protein" I did fine with rice products, and didn't have any trouble sticking to the careful five day diet. This book made it easy to understand what is going to happen during the detoxing process, which I'd never clearly understood. There seems to be a lot of "extra" info in the book if you're interested, such as supplements, tests and details about each part of the body that absorbs toxins. Good to know in hindsight. I think I may continue living a detox lifestyle! It's worth it.
Finally curing some of my chronic health problems!
I have personally tried several "health books" in trying to relieve some long standing symptoms of fatique and joint pain, always unsuccessfully. I was intrigued by the concept of the 7-Day Detox Miracle - that of internally cleansing the cells of my body - it made sense that I really had to clean my body from the inside out in order to restore its normal and healthy function. Committed to finally making a change, I dove right in and followed the program - some diet modifications, changed my supplements (to emphasize detoxification) and sat through a couple of "hot" saunas. A week later I feel better - all my symptoms have not gone away. but I can tell I am finally on the right path. While the authors are obviously physicians who know their science, the material was presented in a way that I could understand and follow and most importantly, implement. I am confident that the material I am learning from the book will insure my ability to maintain optimal health in a logical and relatively easy manner. Thanks to the authors!
Waffen-Ss Uniforms: In Colour Photographs (Europa Militaria, 6)
Published in Paperback by Crowood Pr (2001)
Amazon base price: $19.95

A photographic reference
A reference in matter of picture and colour photography. Most of the description are too succinct. In a roughly 66 pages and over a hundred photography, you get a good view of some parts of the Waffen-SS uniforms. Dont expect specific Waffen-SS portion to be exploited. Photographic reference only, but for a reference ..., it's a pleasent book to look at and at this price it's a perfect book to add in a collection...

SS Uniforms
Although the photos are mostly of reproduction uniforms stagged by re-enactors, they do give a good all around look at the uniforms worn by the SS. Two thirds of the book is dedicated to their cammouflage and there many differant types and paterns. In all a good referance book.
My favorite SS reference.
As an artist, finding color WWII reference material is quite tricky, and usually limited to color plates done by other artists! This is just top shelf to me! -A real visual treat. The pictures are large and in very sharp focus allowing for good appreciation of detail and color, and there is a wide spectrum of mini-eras represented. There are several other german WWII color photo books out there, but none can boast the sheer number of Waffen-SS variations depicted here.Buy it right now, for one day you will look back with disbelief when you think you ever debated about adding this to your collection. -It's that good!

Cosmetically, the book is a two-face: while cover design by Chris Nurse is nothing short of outstanding, the internal layout is not without blemish. For example, outside margins are too wide, story titles are not always at the same height in the page, and the author's name is italicised in some but not all of the instances. Another gripe I have is that page numbers on the right-hand pages are left-aligned; plus, headers have no indication about the stories presented below them: these will give you a bad time if you want to riffle through the book to look up a specific something. There are a few extra typesetting warts and moles as well, as I noticed some characters showing up in a different size than the rest of the text, uneven spacing between words, typos derived from bad OCR, and so on. I sincerely encourage RazorBlade Press to pay more attention to internal design in the future, and run a few spell checks as well. Still, don't let appearances fool you, because the writing on these pages is top-notch.
In the whole, I was not in the least disappointed by Hideous Progeny while expecting quality work. Many short stories surprised me by their original angles, and all are very well written. The subjects are quite varied too, although some do overlap a little - it seems inevitable given the limitations inherent to their collective premise. I have my favourites, of course: Peter Crowther's piece is shocking yet touching at the same time, and the idea behind "Mad Jack" is a simple but nevertheless brilliant one. "The Banker of Ingolstadt" is perhaps the funniest in the book, and I found Steven Volk's "Blitzenstein" to rank among the best.
Whatever shortcomings the book has, they're quickly overwhelmed by the superb fiction it it, not to mention a downright gorgeous cover. For £6.99, it's well worth getting Hideous Progeny: not only will you be adding a fine specimen of a book to your library, you'll also be helping small press business to thrive. Because I want to see more from RazorBlade Press. Oh yeah.
