A book that every cat lover and hater alike should read. I hate cats but found the book very amusing. Can't wait until the dog manual is for sale, it will be better I am sure, as everything with dogs is.

One of the funniest treatments of cat care I have read. A must have for all cat lovers and haters. Makes a great gift for that obnoxious cat owner who lets their little darling use your leg for a scratching post.

This book gives you a comical approach to caring for a cat. If you are a cat lover you will see the humor. If you are not you will see the humor. The authors have a good insight to what cats are all about. This is an excellent resource manual on how a cat owner is to operate a cat.

Mr. Grigg holds your intrest with his easy to read style, while presenting this thoroughly documented report of how the goal of the United Nations is bring about world peace by having everyone recieve the same UN aproved education and practice their aproved one-world pagan religion. If you disagree... Well, that won't be an option.
Read this book. Learn. You won't get this information on the nightly news.

The author, William Norman Grigg, is senior editor for The New American, a publication of the John Birch Society. The JBS has been at the forefront of the effort to get the US out of the UN. This book, written in 1995, is still an important work. Mr. Grigg has meticulously foot-noted his expose into what direction the UN elite want to take the world, especially the US. Beneath its veneer and rhetoric, the UN is a socialist/communist organization. Its vision of rights is completely opposite of that of America's Founders, as Mr. Grigg explains. Read the book to see actual quotes from Americans who support the UN. You will be surprised, as I was. Our children are being programmed in government schools to accept the legitimacy and authority of the UN, and this does not bode well for the future of this country. I urge you to read this book and, if you want to stay current, subscribe to The New American.

This book reveals the evil forces behind the United Nations. It is not a club of well-meaning, idealistic Christians. The founding of the UN has been the work of Communists. In truth the UN is an organization that has been leading a global campaign against: - the Christian family - traditional Biblical values - the nationhood of America The UN is the world's anti-people planner. How can an organization be so presumptuous that it makes guidelines for world population? This tyranny needs to be ended. Distributing contraceptives to teenagers without parents' consent, and moving the world to an antichristian New World Order. If you are pro-life, pro-family, and pro-gun, then you need to read this book to grasp that this global organization is against your freedoms. The UN is busy promoting abortion, destruction of the family, and eradication of Biblical religion in the name of "social progress". Since I read that book, I am an absolute UN opponent. The world would be a better place without that kind of an organization. What I like about this book is William Norman Grigg's strong Christian conviction that is revealed on every page. He says the truth: the world's only hope for peace is not the United Nations, but it is Jesus Christ! He is the Prince of Peace the Bible says!

This book got it all started for me in my desire to eat mostly
raw fruits and vegetables (especially the juices). Ten years ago as a first-year graduate
student at UC Santa Barbara I found myself with an acne problem that had plagued me for the last 5 years, in addition to eyes that were beginning to tire easily. Then one day I stumbled upon this book by Dr. Walker which from the onset made complete sense to me. I bought a juiceman juicer the next week (and it hasn't failed me since!) and began a regimen of fresh juice three times a day. Some amazing things began to progess over the next year:!
i) my acne not only completely disappeared, but I found myself having a very youthful, vibrant look. I looked better than I had ever in the past.
ii) I lost 15 pounds in one year and became a star on the softball field.
iii) I have not touched my reading glasses in the past 9 years.
In the words of Jack Lalane (who is older and more fit than 99.99% of all other Americans) "If man made it, I don't eat it".

I was looking for a book to help me get on the right track to better eating for better health and Norman Walker is right on target. This book tells you the proper combinations for combining fruits and vegetables to reap the benefits of relief from whatever ails you (from acne to rheumatism and arthritis). One has to remember that healing doesn't happen over night but it does happen. My husband is a living testimony. Thanks to this book, I've been able to learn about the benefits of juicing and have gone on to read several other books by Norman Walker.
This book was truly a blessing to my family. Now I can help other people to get on the right track for a healthier lifestyle.

Norman Walker's books are among the definitive words in all of health. There are few authors that compare to Walker(Arnold Ehret being one of them). Walker died in 1985 and lived to be 109(some say 120, but it is 109)yrs old. This is the first raw-food book I bought and it did not let me down. This man knew what he was talking about: he saw autopsies performed and saw the filth in the body first hand. Get all of his books; you won't be let down.

My daughter brought this book home from her library at school. The minute I opened the book, I was in love. The illustrations are beautiful. This book makes you smile from beginning to end. This is a must for every dog lover. I bought one for myself and one for the only other person I know that loves dogs as much as me......my boyfriend's mother who recently lost her best friend of 15 years (her dog, Barney).

This book touched my heart when I saw it on a desk of a co worker it was a wonderful gift for my husband. What a touching wonderful book with beautiful illustrations, a must read for anyone.

A rare gem, indeed! Lamb's paintings are truly exquisite, capturing the soul of the animals like no others I have ever seen. His studies of puppies in various settings are vibrant and alive in a way that is difficult to describe. They must be seen to understand. Jim Lamb is to paintings of Dogs as Thomas Kincaid is to landscapes, at the very least. Wright's collection of quotes, verses, anecdotes and facts is marvelous. I was moved to tears repeatedly while browsing through this book. It looks, at first glance, like a children's book, but just a few moments between the covers of this jewel will prove an uplifting experience. Wright has truly captured the essence of the spirituality inherent in our relationship with these noble animals. This book is an absolute must for the library of any true dog lover.

This book has a lot of helpful insight on the history of how we got our Bible. Of course the book is not in favour of the Textus Receptus/KJV, however the information found in this book concerning Canonization, and Inspiration is good.

A great one volume work on the inspiration, canonization, transmission and translation of the Bible. There are also good B&W photos, e.g. the Habakkuk Commentary, one of the Dead Sea Scrolls, so one of the earliest extant manuscripts of the OT; and P52, the oldest NT fragment.

There are good refutations of a number of false views, e.g. that an inspired Bible can contain error. The authors demonstrate that Biblical errantists confuse several concepts:

Adaptation to human finitude vs accommodation to human error: the former does not entail the latter. A mother might tell her four-year-old 'you grew inside my tummy' - this is not false, but language simplified to the child's level. Conversely, 'the stork brought you' is an outright error. Similarly, God, the author of truth, used some simplified descriptions (e.g. using the earth as a reference frame, as modern scientists do today) and anthropomorphisms, but never error.

Limitation vs misunderstanding: while the Second Person of the Trinity was incarnate in Jesus of Nazareth, He voluntarily limited His omniscience (Phil. 2:5-11). I.e., in His humanity, He did not know all things. But this does *not* entail that He was mistaken about anything He said. All human understanding is finite, but this doesn't entail that every human understanding is errant. Also, what Jesus *did* preach, He proclaimed with absolute authority (Mt. 24:35, 28:18), because He was speaking with the full authority of God the Father (John 5:30, 8:28), who is always omniscient. So if errantists wish to maintain his charge that Christ was mistaken because of His humanity, they must logically charge God the Father with error as well.

Geisler and Nix also show that canonicity was *not* determined by men (e.g. the Church), but determined by God and *recognized* by men.

The sections on the accuracy of transmission and translation should help Christians have confidence that when they read a Bible accurately translated into their own language today, they *are* reading the very Word of God.

Geisler and Nix have provided the Christian community with a standard introduction text to Biblical studies. This book is divided up into four major parts. Each part provides enormous detail covering issues that range from Inspiration (part 1), Canonization (part 2), Transmission (part 3) and Translation (part 4). In part one the authors discuss the definitions of revelation and inspiration, various claims of inspiration, the historical context of inspiration, to contemporary issues of inspiration. In part two canonicity is covered with its developing history, as well as an exposition of the texts that did not make it into the Bible (i.e. Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha). Part three provides the reader with a strong emphasis on transmission of the texts, the languages of the texts, OT manuscripts, NT manuscripts, development of textual criticism, etc. The final part consists of translation of the OT and NT texts, Latin versions, English versions, modern English versions, etc. Moreover, scattered throughout this text book are illustrations, charts, actual textual photos, and diagrams. The book has a pretty comprehensive glossary, an appendix of the chronological history of the various translations of the Bible, an index, and a massive bibliography. This book is a must have for the serious student of the Bible. Moreover, both Geisler and Nix are conservative scholars and this makes for a nice conservative piece of work. Don't miss placing this high quality volume in your library, you will only be at a loss without it.

This collection of six essays reveals why so many people not only feared communism, but were right to do so. From a variety of nations and perspectives, the authors recount the events that led to their involvement with, and eventual break from, "The Party." At times chilling, always fascinating, this short series of works is an important philosophical milestone in the (ongoing) fight against communism.

Anyone who is a fan of George Orwell or P.J. O'Rourke should enjoy this collection of essays from intellectuals who made the journey to communism and back. Arthur Koestler's (sp?) essay captures perfectly the confusion of Weimar Germany before the rise of Hitler, and shows that the communists actually helped the Nazis to power. You will come away from the book wondering how some intelligent people believed - and still believe - that communism was the way of the future. If there is a book that will turn a diehard leftist into a subscriber to the "National Review", TGTF is that book.

These individuals believed the party line whole heartedly. This is an emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and physical committment and possesses the initiate. Novices are enamored with the power of the idealogy and master practitioners wield that power ruthlessly. Emergence of an individual from said idealogy usually renders said person 'washed out.'

My daughter loved this book and she could make all the animal sounds by the time she was 16 months old. Now my son wants me to read it to him at least 5 times a sitting and he says bow-wow at the end. (He is 14 months old) I will get him the other 3 in this series for Christmas.

I started reading this book to my son when he was about 8 weeks old. He's 8- months now and we read it nearly everyday. No matter how fussy or distracted he may be, he always stops, looks and smiles when I begin reading this book. He LOVES the animal sounds!

My son has loved this book since we bought it at around age one, to now almost 3. He liked making the noises that the animals say when he was young, now he tries to memorize the short rhymes and "read" the book himself. It is one of the best of this small red puppy series. Consider getting the plush puppy - I haven't seen him anywhere else and my son LOVES him (and he has held up well too!)

To prepare for going to Istanbul to attend the engagement party of my oldest son to the lovely Özlem, I thought it might be helpful if I could speak a word or two of Turkish.

There isn't a better book than this one on the market (actually, I don't think there are any other elementary Turkish language books ON the market). It is a great little book, with actual lessons laid out at the end of each chapter. You're given several sentences to translate from English to Turkish and vice-versa.

I would have given it five stars, but the downside is they don't tell you that you MUST have a Turkish dictionary at hand. I didn't realize this until I was in Istanbul trying to do my homework.

There's a short dictionary in the back of this book, but it is Turkish to English (which makes it hard to look up some of the words you're supposed to translate from English to Turkish - and some words just aren't there).

The CD tape I bought simply wasn't enough, so I added this book. (You absolutely need a CD, though, so you can understand the pronounciation -- extremely important in this language!

Highly recommended.

Almost 10 years ago I went to Turkey for the first time as an exchange student with the Rotary Club. I was living with a Turkish family and I was determined to learn the language. One day I met another American woman in Turkey who spoke fluent Turkish. She sent me home with this book and a few words of advice. "Elementary Turkish" is truly a classic in the world of Turkish language acquisition. The book proved to be extremely helpful to me, especially as it gave me grammatical categories for all of the words and phrases that I was learning from the Turks around me. Lewis Thomas understands the language well, and his book explains it in very readable, but challenging lessons. After receiving the book, I spent about an hour with it every day for around 3 months. It was an integral part of my Turkish language acquisition.

Now as a fluent Turkish speaker, I use this book often to help train people who are going to Turkey, either long-term or short-term. In some of the vocabulary lists and colloquial expressions it is somewhat dated, but overall this short textbook is still the best. It is packed with helpful vocabulary and language lessons and exercises. It can be used either to study over a long period of time (as I did), or to peruse for vocabulary and basic grammar (as I have used it to train others).

If you have no exposure to spoken Turkish, buy this book along with one of the many cassette tape courses available. If you plan on learning Turkish in Turkey, then this book is all you need.

This was my first text book in Turkish (some 28 years ago). Despite many new and innovative techiniques in language teaching and acquisition, this little charmer is still one of my favorites.

If one takes one's time to work through the exercises step-by-step -- the result will be an excellent basic command of Turkish sentence structure and verb system. Professor Thomas has a very systematic style which I appreciate as a student (especially when learning by oneself)

Alas, no one has taken the opportunity to make recordings of the examples or exercises. This would make a great package -- Hint, hint if the publisher is reading.

Anyway, affordably priced and fairly complete in itself (except for the lack of audio), you can't lose if you want to learn Turkish!
