amazing journey
The book is quite moving. It is written from a different perspective. Amalie masqueraded as a Christian Pole. Norman fought in the partisan movement (the underground). Their first meeting was most unusual. Norman had come to kill her (he thought she was the enemy); instead he ended up marrying her. A very fresh look at a dark side of this century.

It's a factual, & extremely intriguing story of 2 survivors.
This book is an amazingly interesting and intriguing book which i strongly recommend to those people who enjoy love stories with a sad story behind it. Also i recommend this book to anyone who enjoys holocaust novels. The sad memoir touched my heart and i know it will to yours as well.

Five starts well deserve....
The symbols in this cards are very powerful. I have about 5 different tarot cards and the egyptian oracle is my favorite. I use the egyptian oracle for my own fortune telling so far the cards has told me many thing that have come thuth. Im very impress with the results. I been very fortunate with the wisdom from the cards. I recommend the egyptian oracle to anybody interested in finding out more about their future.

Magnificent job, Norman!
I realize that I'm a little biased in reviewing this book (I've known the author for over 20 years!)but I have to say that it's a wonderful piece of work and well worth the wait. Norman designed these cards many years ago and I know, from the time I first met him, how much thought and effort he has put into them over the years. Aside from being a first class writer, he is also an amazingly accurate psychic who will blow you away wih his readings, and this book and cards are designed with the amateur in mind in teaching them how to tap into their own psychic resources. I am eagerly awaiting your next venture, Norman!

Asymptotic Expansions of Integrals
Published in Hardcover by HBJ College & School Division (1975)
Author: Norman. Bleistein
Amazon base price: $25.95
Used price: $15.96
Average review score:

Excellent book !
Asymptotic expansion of Integrals, a very applied technique, is fundamental to my area of research: computational electromagnetics (CEM). I have read the review by one of the anonymous reviewer, and do agree fully with him/her. Professors Bleistien and Handelsman have done a remarkable job in exposing the asymptotic theory, as one of the parameters (in the exponent of the integrand) becomes large. This technique is fundamental to our understanding of "high-frequency" phenomena and in particular diffraction phenomena. Without repeating the contents of the preceding review, I must reiterate that a reasonably good knowledge in the theory of fundtions of a complex variable is essential for benefiting from this book.

The book is presents a rigorous theory of a very useful and applied mathematical technique for electrical engineering (radars, em scattering, antenna theory) and is a must for those wishing to do some serious yet useful research in CEM. Very typically, the Green's functions for a e.m. b.v.p (boundary value problem), can be approximated by such techniques, which results in substantial savings of computer resources at higher frequencies.

(It is one of the most useful books in my personal library.)

Excellent !!!
The book contains valuable information about a specialized area of applied mathematics. The material presented in this book is applicable to problems involving quantum and electromagtnetic scattering at high frequencies. In the area of radar technology, the radar cross-section of a target is calculated using asymptotic evaluation of Fourier integrals that appear in the final form of the electric and magnetic field vectors following a solution to the appropriate boundary value problem, starting with Maxwell's equations.

To study the book, the reader must have had course on complex variables upto and including residue theory, infinite series, analytic continuation, conformal mapping and multivalued functions, plus a introductory knowledge of ordinary differential equations.

Without discussing the contents of each chapter, I can only comment that they are most lucid and intellectually satisfying; in particular chaps. 7 and 9 are most useful to practical problems

The contents of chapters 7 and 9 are widely applicable in various electrical engineering problems - short-pulse radars, high-frequnecy scattering, antenna theory and the like. The main advantage of using these asymptotic methods is that they reduce spectral integrals stemming from potential theory (Green's functions) are to " almost " closed form solutions that are not exact but computationally extremely helpful. In many cases, for example EM scattering by a circular cylinder, numerical results can only be obtained if asymptotic methods are applied at high frequencies. The use of asymptotic methods in engineering computation is primarily to reduce the c.p.u. time by several orders of magnitude as compared to exact calculations. This allows faster and more efficient solution to problems. The book is well organized and there are enough homework problems for the interested reader. A must pre-requisite for understanding the topic(s) is a reasonably good grasp of the theory functions of a complex variable, as mentioned at the begining of this review.

Love it!
My 18-month old loves this book. The activities and characters are familiar to our daily lives and she loves "discussing" each page's event. While she has never seen Sesame Street on TV, she loves the characters anyway.

Great Book for a Baby!
My 12-month-old son loves to be read this book. It's one of those books that's easy to make interesting: "Cookie glides down the slide" , "Ernie swings high," "Bert swings low" . Very simple pictures and words, suitable for a baby or young toddler.

THANKS FOR THE "A" MYRNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before I bought "Exploring Medical Language" I knew absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing about Medical Terminology.
And to tell you the truth, when I first opened this huge, intimidating, monster of a book, It scared... me... I mean, wouldn't "rhabdomyosarcoma" or "esophagogastroduodenoscopy"
frighten you (just a bit) I thought, nooooo way.

But I opened it, read it, did the cool excersises, listen the the audio tapes, played a bit with the CD-R.

She begins at the beginning.....Little baby steps.

All of a sudden... I was like, I get it! I really get it!
Not only that, but I was beginning to enjoy it.

The prefix, suffix, and word roots suddenely become beautiful, flowing words that make sense.
Myrna LaFleur Brooks made this book come alive, interesting, and allowed medical language to become a little bit like music.
Well, a little!!!! Thanx for the "A" Myrna!

This text is invaluable
I'm currently using this book as a supplemental text for my paramedic training. We've just finished cardiology, and I couldn't have done it without this text. I already owned Phalen, Dubin, and Huff; all are good, but the Huszar text is now the one I go to first when I have a question about ECG's. There are a multitude of practical illustrations, tables, and review questions. Best of all is the 200-and-some strips for practice in the appendix. Highly recommend!!

Until I visit England, this book shows the Beatles' sites!
I'm waiting to go the England to visit the Beatles' places, Abbey Road and Penny Lane and Strawberry Fieleds and all their homes. I can't wait, but for now, this book will hold me over. Some of it is funny and has some great photos. It is a bit trippy too.

A priori essential.
This one is a subtle 60's atmospheric trip. It won't saccharize you with pop culture like many lesser books will.

Becoming an Addictions Counselor: A Comprehensive Text

3rd Millenium arrives in addictions
Trying to stay current in this field isn't easy. First of all, you are constantly hounded by traditional dogmas that don't give a whit about research about "what works". Second, you have people whose first layer of identity is not addictions counseling writing from their limited perspective. Third, counseling texts often devote too much space to pharmacology and stuff which belongs in another course (and there are a trillion books on drug types and effects). Myers and Salt have written a real insiders book on treatment and counseling. It cuts to the heart of the counseling relationship, its crucial issues and problems, and the nitty gritty of screening, assessment, intake, on top of the clinical picture. Everything you need to know, in short. Wish I'd had it in my coursework.....

Up to Date Addictions Counseling Text!
I've been morose for years about my inability to locate an up to date and comprehensive addictions counseling text. Most of them seem to have been written twenty years ago, or accept traditional "faith" models uncritically, ignore research, and/or have no coverage of crucial topics such as ethics. So it was a pleasure to see that Myers and Salt have come out with a top notch text, one that can be used at community or four year colleges. FINALLY, coverage of case management, ethics and confidentiality, VERY up to date MICA section - sophisticated coverage of personality disorders and AOD. Stages of change, REBT, Patient Placement Criteria, you name it, its there and its the latest. I'm familiar with these folks from the addiction studies educator network, which explains the ability to soak up the good stuff. I hope this text will help some of the "dinosaur" training programs out in the "boonies" to modernize and help our students become employable in the health care industry as it is today.

great book
It's so refreshing in these turbulent times to read about these heroes.

Unlike other medal of honor books, which just offer the citations or summaries of the citations, this book offers unique looks into the heroes by way of interviews with them. They each have amazing stories and incredibly interesting lives.

Buy this book!

Beyond Glory
At first, I did not like the fact that the book was written by someone who openly protested during the Vietnam war. In my belief he had not earned the right to even speak with these hero's of America. The author did a great job relating the stories of these American heroes in their own words. This is a must read. We are loosing the hero's of our past wars at an alarming rate due to old age finally catching up to them. It was amazing to hear these men talk about their great deads like it was an everyday occurrence.

A totally engrossing read...
This is a phenomenal story. The author's 22-year passion of research results in a read that you don't want to put down. The fact that it is all based on reality makes it even more enthralling. This is a wild tale.

This would also be a useful read for anyone researching the history of the Canadian penal code and the 'ticket-of-leave' precursor to modern, more liberal ideas, about the potential for rehabiliation in criminals.

I'm very glad I got into this book - highly recommended.

Best True Crime Story Yet
The Big Red Fox is the story of Canada's most notorious bank robber. Also a fascinating look at the underworld.A behind the scenes look at how we are often manipulated by the media.A brilliant time capsule. And it's all true. This is a must read for all crime ,history or true story fans.Just could not put it down.

Excellent Story from the Prisoner's Point of View
I found this book to be very captivating and informative. The author allows the reader to experience imprisonment through the eyes of the POW. I read this book because I was born after the war and did not know anything about it...I have more respect for the people that actually lived through it now, and I think it has done me more good than if I would have read a book dealing with all the political viewpoints from someone who was not there. Could not put it down, very inspiring.

Experience the triumph of the human spirit!
Mr. Norman did an excellent job of relating the unimaginable horrors of the Vietnamese prison system. The prisoners will come to life as you learn of their collective and individual exploits. These men are the true definition of what a hero is, though they think of themselves as "just doing my job" This book is a must-read for the inspirational story fan.
