A masterful achievement
"The Papers of Ulysses S. Grant" is a project begun in 1962 for the purpose of publishing all the known letters written by Ulysses S. Grant. Volume one was published in 1967 and there are now twenty-four volumes in the series. People who follow Grant's career are aware of the inestimable value of this project. The Papers contain all known correspondence written by Grant and letters received by him. The editing of the series is unparalleled and the volumes represent primary source material at its apex.

Those who believe Grant was a "drunkard" or a "butcher" should read his own words, which show Grant's humor, pathos and unique personality. Masterfully edited by John Y. Simon, these volumes are a "must have" for anyone with an interest in U.S. Grant as a general, a politician and as a man

SOMETHING DIFFERENT
I have MANY other garden writing anthologies, but this is one with wonderful excerpts I have not seen before. Some familiar material, but not much. No pretty pictures, but the text more than makes up for it. The choices for this book are very enjoyable and inspiring for hands-on or armchair gardeners alike. Highly Recommended.

Great book for those using SCO 3.2.v4.2
I have had this book for a number of years now.
For anyone managing a large Unix installation of SCO Unix servers
this is a great book. Well written, by technical people, for
technical people.

It is unfortunately not relevant to anyone who DOES NOT have
SCO Unix 3.2.v4.2 ( You could use it as a general guide on
Unix performance tuning and lose the specifics of the kernel
parameters I suppose ).

I have a large ( 50 SCO Unix servers ) site and this book has been invaluable.

I just wish they would do a book on Unixware 7.11 or Open Unix 8
to this depth.

Stop wondering how to do Component Based Development
If you where wondering how to do Component Based Development, stop now and read this book. The book gives some real good insights, based on the real live experiences of the authors.

When compared to other development processes like the Unified Process, this methodology is fully Service and Component Based. From the early start in the Select Perspective process, all activities are aimed at Reusing services and components before Buying them, and only as a last choice build them yourselves.

The book has some great modeling examples. This was the first time I have seen a straight foreward way of using UML for modeling against a Service based Architecture.

A must for people that are serious in adopting a Service and Component Based development process.

As educational as it is entertaining
Simon & Barklee In England is the latest book in the adventurous Simon & Barklee series for children. The exciting tale is of a best-friends dog and bird duo exploring a new country, visiting Shakespeare's home town, and singing for the Queen among numerous other amazing activities. Simon & Barklee features not only playful color illustrations, but also a simple map of England and a glossary of British English words that differ from their American counterparts, making the engaging exploits of the animal companions as educational as it is entertaining! Also highly recommended is the Simon & Barklee In England Fun Book (0970466153, $4.00), a consumable companion workbook for young folks, who can undertake 22 different exercises of three different challenge levels, from coloring the Union Jack flag to measuring in metrics and learning what happens when one crosses the International Date Line.
