The best view of nuclear medicine(up-to-date),for all!!
I've never reviewd a book before. But i, and many other college's from here in Brazil, have felt that this book gives the best view of nuclear medicine. The language is straight foward and the topics come to us in a very simple, but important matter. This book may be used by nuclear medicine phisicians, but it may easely be read by any other phisicians or technologist's. I just hope that a new edition comes out soon aproaching new aspects of nuclear medicine like quantitative gated spect, spect-pet(FDG), scintimamography and sentinel limphnode detection and treatment. My congradulations to Mr. Palmer and to all the other contribuitor's of this magnificent book!

A great book!
This book is exceptional. It provides several programming scenarios for different operations, then lists the good and bad points of each. It also explains in which situation they are best used. For example: .NET Remoting vs. Web Services vs. COM

There are several performance tips given that I never thought about and they really work . . . I, of course, had to test them for myself.

If you are like me, you don't have time to test every scenario to find out which technique is best for every situation, this book helped to guide me in the right direction.

Riding West is a real keeper!
Ordinarily I skip or only skim prefaces, but that would have been a big mistake in this book which starts right out with a hilarious account of Jim Greer's encounter with Jack Nicholson, the famous actor immediately recognizable to everyone but clueless Jim. Riding West is always entertaining and frequently moving. Greer's description of his metamorphosis from performance auditor for the Colorado legislature to outfitter in the rugged high country of Gunnison County should be of interest to anyone who has ever contemplated reinventing himself in the midstream of life. Greer emerges as a fascinating (if somewhat eccentric) personality and a superb storyteller. I hated to see this book end. Someday, I suspect, it will be made into a film. It has all the earmarks of a classic, one that belongs in the distinguished company of other such classics as A River Runs Through It.

A must for all Coaches who want to Improve!
The science of coaching Tennis gives a detailed approach to coaching. It covers a wide spectrum of areas from drills, strokework, fitness, and mental efficency. I like the advice the book gives on what the attributes of a coach should be or could be. It gives examples on how to move players forward to the next level in a logical step by step manner; moreover covers areas which many coaching manuels leave out. The research is first rate with a high level of experience both practical and real. I liked the points which Groppels makes about the fallacys of the game which are around us all the time! The reality which he provides makes sense. The tips concerning the Ideal Performance State which is provided in the latter stages of the book can only help in performance. This book is aimed for Coaches who want to progress further than the old fashioned methods. It is a heavy read so you really need some prior experience to respect the information provided: both playing! and Coaching to a skilled level. This book is not for social players; moreover geared towards those who take pride in there performance.

Although you indicate it's not out yet in print. The St. Louis County Library have had it for over a month and it is the best source for cataloging my stamps I have found.

The Bible for Stamp Collectors
The Scott Catalogue is the definitive guide for stamp collectors. All Scott Catalogues feature the Scott numbers (used by virtually all collectors to identify their stamps)and show Scott values (indicating what your stamps are worth). This is more than just a value guide as it is brimming with important information on just about all aspects of stamp collecting. The Scott Standard Catalogue comes in 6 volumes and is arranged alphabetically by title. For those who seek more information on just U.S. stamps there is the Scott U.S. Specialized Catalogue. And for the collector of older issues there is the Scott Classic Catalogue. -Comments from Stuart Morrissey, Vice President and Publisher of Scott Publishing Co

Self-Organization in Biological Systems

Real, practical studies of self-organization in biology
Many books containing theory upon theory about self-organization in the biosphere have appeared in recent years. This book could be an important catalyst towards putting more of these theories to the test. While it has long been recognized that self-organization could be important in biological systems, many of these studies are computational models only. Many are very convincing, but unless steps are taken towards verifying these models and scrutinizing their validity, it is very difficult to know whether the theories have any real value towards understanding real life.

The strenght of this book lies in its rigorous introductions to the relevant theoretical concepts in self-organization, followed up by a general debate of self-organization versus competing explanations. The book spends many chapters looking at particular natural phenomena in detail, and examines possibilities for self-organization in these. In spite of the fact that these chapters have different authors, they follow each other well. The book is unusually well put together for this kind of collection of works by multiple authors.

The majority of the case study chapters involve studies of social insects, which narrows the topic a little in comparison with the more ambitious title. Self-organization also occurs elsewhere in biology, and personally I am a little dissapointed that a wider range of case studies were not chosen for the book. This could have spawned more interest and further work in other areas of the field.

However, the book is definitely well worth reading for biologists and other scientists interested in self-organization, and represents a major step towards establishing studies of self-organization in biology as a serious field.

Religion... what a concept!
For those that are NOT familiar with the idea, WOTC has offered an 'Open Game License' to any publisher that would like to contribute to the further growth of the d20 system that has been implemented with D&D3Ed.

Up till now, I had not been overly impressed with products by Penumbra for the d20 system. That has changed. Touched by the Gods is a collection of fifteen Cults, Churches and Cabals (also in the form of prestige classes). The strongest point for this product is the rich detail given regarding each of these institutions.

After reading the book twice, it is my opinion that the Churches and classes asscoiated are best suited either to NPC's as support and framework for the campaign OR for all members of the party be somehow related to the group in question.

Either way, Touched by the Gods is very rich and rewarding reading in a nice hardback package.

Beautiful! Relaxing! Inspiring!
This tape is one of the most beautiful meditation tapes I've every listened to. The two wooden flutes weaving and intertwining in and out are like going back thousands of years to a serene temple, or like sitting on a mountain top and having the beautifully simple yet masterful music waft over you. I feel very relaxed and recharged at the same time! I listen whenever I need a recharge, a re-focus, an energize, or to get my creative juices flowing. Thank you!
