A Guide to Playing the Mythos Card Game
This book contains miscellaneous information about the Mythos collectible card game. It contains: the rules of the game, a FAQ, a short play and deck construction guide, a sort of designer's notes on the game, background information on selected cards, rules for solitaire play and creating your own adventures, a complete spoiler list for the limited edition of the game and lists of card attributes and requirements for completing adventures.

As a collector and player of the game, I found the designer's notes on the history of the game and the design philosophy to be especially interesting. Also useful to me are the short notes on the background of selected cards and the rules for creating and scoring your own adventures. The pictures of the selected cards are black & white with a paragraph of background info. Buyers should also note that there is an updated version of the rules of the game at the Chaosium website.

Austria and United States Forces Austria - Revisited
Published in Paperback by Sunflower University Press (2001)
Authors: Thomas St John Arnold and Thomas St. John Arnold
Amazon base price: $18.95
Used price: $14.50

For students of post-World War II military history
Thomas Arnold was a Lieutenant Colonel in the General Staff Corps, Assistant Chief of Staff of the 92nd Infantry Division at the end of World War II. He had been planning and directing the 92nd's operations during the most of the nine months it had been in combat. In 1947 he was stationed at Vienna, Austria in order to plan the reorganization of the United States Forces Austria, with a view towards the looming post-war Soviet threat to Europe. In Austria And Unites States Forces Austria, Arnold offers a brief history of Austria from its origins down to the present time, and documents its relevance to problems faced by the U.S., England, and France in seeking to establish a free, independent, and neutral country during the years of the Cold War. Austria And Unites States Forces Austria is strongly recommended reading for students of post-World War II military history, the 1950s and 1960s era of Cold War politics, and the history of what became the federal republic of Austria, a industrial and trade-based nation solidly in alliance with the Western democracies.

An excellent choice for the novice
This book is an excellent choice for someone wishing to learn the basics of technical drawing. The book was prepared for a high-school level audience, but it has superb explanations of drawing concepts.

The book is divided into 25 chapters. Just some of the important topics covered are: dimensioning, line choices, views and representations of objects, partial views, and many other standard drawing conventions, just to name a few.

Although this book does address both CAD and mechanical drawing techniques, its CAD coverage is (by necessity) very limited.

My background is in chemistry, and I had taught myself AutoCAD, but until I bought this book, my drawings were poor by proper standards. After using this book every day for about two weeks, my drawing skills improved immensely, and I was able to produce high quality drawings in a very short time.

If you are new to technical drawing and wish to learn proper conventions in an easy to follow format, then you will be very glad you bought this book. Additionally, if you are wishing to create your drawings with AutoCAD, then an excellent companion to this book is "Applying AutoCAD-A Step by Step Approach" by Terry Wohlers. A word of advice: learn proper drawing techniques before trying to learn CAD.

Bergey's Manual comes in two very different forms, each good
Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology is a four-volume set covering virtually every known species of bacterium; articles on each species and extensive articles on higher taxa describe a great deal of value to the undergraduate microbiology student or teacher, often including hard to find information about culture methods and ecological roles. The high cost and heavy format of the four large hardbound volumes make them unsuitable for use in the laboratory, however. Bergey's Manual of Determinative Bacteriology is a lower-cost, paperback companion volume containing very brief genus descriptions but extensive tables of biochemical and growth charateristics necessary for the laboratory identification of bacteria. Student labs should include these paperback volumes near every workstation; once students have identified their bacteria, a trip to a departmental library or reading room to learn more about the organism from the four-volume set is in order. Together, these volumes are indispensible for any well-equipped microbiology program.

The Body: A Study in Pauline Theology
Published in Paperback by Westminster John Knox Press (1977)
Author: John Arthur Thomas, Bp., Robinson
Amazon base price: $3.95
Used price: $8.47
Average review score:

Hard to Explain . . .
But this is the best book on Christianity and its existential relation(s) to the embodied life that I've ever read! Every paragraph of Robinson's closely reasoned interpretation of Paul, the most prolific Christian enscripturated writer, opened whole new vistas on how the body, existentially understood, ties together every facet of Christianity. I'll have more to say about this book in a subsequent review . . . But, if you can find a copy of this little jewel, grab it and see what I mean. I'd love to hear other people's thoughts on this too.

But this author has spent 8yrs of excellent work and has managed to tie all the information together so well I thought I was watching an exciting action pack Movie of very high quality. This Book should be made into a Movie. I truly love it.

Discreet to the point of obscurantism.
Colonel Arnold's chronicle (with a Fifth Army patch oddly misidentified on the cover as that of the 473rd Inf. Reg. (sic)), is remarkable mostly for what it doesn't reveal. The author was G-3 (Plans and Operations Officer) for Division Commander Major General Edward M. "Ned: Almond, one of the most controversial officers of the American Army of World War II, and the man many consider responsible for the poor combat performance of the 92nd.
"Buffalo Soldiers" is useful for the detailed accounts of troop movements and Orders of Battle of the division and related units, but readers seeking a detailed analysis and evaluation of the division should see Shelby Stanton's excellent "Ten Corps in Korea", which organization also had racial difficulties and was commanded by: Ned Almond.

This is the book to read on Carlyle.
By far the best, fairest and most profound book on Carlyle yet published. I absolutely recommend it to anyone fascinated by this quirky, brilliant and frustrating writer. Rosenberg's elucidation of Carlyle's language and thought in his great history 'The French Revolution' leaves me breathless with admiration.
