RUMPOLE'S AMERICAN NEPHEW
I just loved this book! As a practicing criminal defense attorney who also served 6 years on the bench let me just report that the stories in this book are more true than not. If you are looking for a great read and a bellyfull of laughs pick up this wonderful tome. My wife kicked me out of bed because I was laughing so loud (snorting and chortling as well) that she opined she couldn"t read her own book with me making all that noise.

Sam's Scoop
This book has been the best book I've ever read, by far! The devious and conniving things one defense attorney will do to win will keep you entertained. In John Wilkes's quest for success, anyone or anything that gets in his way will NOT stop him. I would recommend this book to anyone with a decent sense of humor!

what a hoot
have just read this book - a wonderful and funny book. As a former New Yorker, I recognized many characters and this helped to bring it to life. I suggest this is the nearest book to, A CONFEDERACY OF DUNCES, that I've read. Again 5 stars and thanks.

Hes a true star in my books (a true inspiration)
I LOVE IVERSON he is an true role model. He went through alot as a child and teen and still going through pure hell as an adult. He shows me that you should never give up and forget where you come from. If you have an goal and dont understand Iverson and you only know him as an ball player and dont know why he has so many fans you should read this book. It made me think and rewind my thoughts on the game of basketball and look at him as a total different person. Hes a true role model and thats why true fans like me dont look at him and just see cornrows and tattoos we see an awesome gift from god and a pro at the game of life as well

book review
I thought the book was very entertaining, mainly because of my love for the man the book was based on. I think he is great basketball player and I have never known a point guard to score like him. Although we live two different lifestyles, I admire you because you shine regardless! I love that about you. My personal advice to Allen Iverson is to keep your head up and continue ballin'. The next Director of Public Relations for a team in the league, Miss La'Keisha

TO ONE OF THE BEST NBA STARS IN HISTORY. I LOVE YOU
WHATZ UP TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I JUST HAVE A COUPLE OF THINGSTO SAY TO/ABOUT ALLEN IVERSON. I LOVE YOU AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

The best book on the engineering achivements of Apollo
It is a crying shame that this wonderful book appears to be VERY out of print. It answers all the questions any technologically curious person would have about the design of the systems, the testing, how mission control worked, what all those acronyms really mean, the geeky geniuses and tough managers that made the program succeed. it covers the surprising numbers of "glitches" that made every mission more dramatic than news reports led viewers to believe.

Could it be that author Murray followed up this gem with the controversial The Bell Curve, and the publishing establishment is reluctant to see him prosper? Or is there a less nefarious explanation?

A Comprehensive look at the technology of Apollo
A comprehensive look at the whole of the Apollo program is given in "Apollo: the Race to the Moon". As well as the flights and the astronauts, this book also looks at the technology involved - the crawler and its special roadway, the exacting requirements for the lauchpad ("Stage Zero") to stand a Saturn launch, the problems in developing the F1 engines that powered the Saturn first stage, the power and magnificence or a Saturn launch.

A terrific book on the people and technologies behind Apollo
I just met one of the principle people interviewd for this book, and he called it the best book on Apollo for "outsiders." This book lays out the challenges (man, moon, decade), problems ("combustion instability"), and solutions (duct tape!) all in an incredibly readable format.

No cute astronaut stories. This is about the engineering that made Apollo work!

More than an Advisor
An experienced colleague recommended this book to me at a conference. The title simply does not do this book justice but I bought it anyway. If you ever wondered how some consultants and professionals do such a good job obtaining and keeping clients, then READ THIS BOOK.

I have recommended this book to all my clients and they agree. More importantly, very few so-called "advisors" do what this book explains clearly. Tremendous resource for any professional but many very powerful techniques to help you close contracts without sounding like a used car salesman. The case studies and examples hit home and force you to stop and think about your own style.

For Your Arsenal
Whether you are in sales, are an attorney, or providing any kind service or intangible, this is a great book. If you think you've read all the client oriented, consulting oriented "sales and success" books - but haven't read this ... then you are never going to be at the top of your field. This book is about bringing real authenticity to the relationships with your clients. Client executives can smell a sneak or a fraud a mile away. Today, business is more competitive than ever, making losing a client relationship a crime. Knowing how to keep a client, build a relationship and continue nuturing it, is an art. Maister points to great examples and gets you to thinking ... "if only I'd done that ..." or "next time I'll ...". This is a thinking persons book, one to be reviewed over again through the course of your career, but only if you want to be among the "trusted few" with seasoned, senior executives. Other great books along this line I recommend are: any of Maisters books, Patrick McKenna's material (see their web pages too), and Clients for Life by Andrew Sobel.

Maister is the Master
My introduction to David Maister came from the former managing director of Burson-Marteller's Tokyo office, who recommended True Professionalism. That book became one of the "required readings" for my training company's staff. Since True Professionalism, I've read Managing the Professional Service Firm and found it heavy, over-detail-oriented and difficult to apply. Now comes The Trusted Advisor (with other authors) and I can say without a doubt this best book on trust development I've read--putting real meat in those abstract concepts like "credibility." His chapter where he introduces the equation where Trust = Credibility + Reliability + Intimacy, all divided by Self-orientation, would be worth the price of the book. No, there probably is nothing new under the sun, but Maister in this book (and in Practice What You Preach, another gem) provides the keys to create better results for clients, and shows us how to turn those keys to start the engine. If there were 10 stars to give, I'd rate this a 10.

A Must Read Book...Great Advise
A friend of mine recommended that I read this book...I was so impressed by the info. provided that I read over half the book in less than a day..(book has over 500 pages)...I also ordered three other books written by Mr. Givens...His advise, even though written some time ago, is very do-a-ble and easy to follow...I thanked my friend and recommend this book other books written by Mr. Givens to anyone who's serious about getting their finances in order.

The book that started it all for me
Back in January 1989, I purchased "Wealth without Risk" at our local bookstore. What a ride it has been!I was able to cut our family auto expences in half, increase my take home pay, reduce taxes to almost zero and start a investment plan.I also recommend Financial Self DeFense and Super Self.

About 12 Years Later
I bought this book way back in the late 80s (89 I think), saw his late night shows and attended some of his seminars - and then implemented the strategies presented. Today, 12 years later, I must say that what I did then was probably the smartest financial thing I did in my life. My knowledge & wealth has increased manyfold compared to then. Though I haven't followed all his startegies to the dot, I have implemented most of them that were within my abilities. Thanks to CJG and his organization.

The Wonderful Spirit Filled Life
Published in Paperback by Walker and Co. (1994)
Author: Charles F. Stanley
Amazon base price: $16.95
Used price: $2.84
Average review score:

Informative and Inspirational
Dr. Stanley provides insights that help a Christian to tap into the abundant life described by Jesus in the Gospels by showing them how to apply priciples that work. For example, he writes "you will enjoy exercising your gift. You will look forward to the responsibilities you are given that call on you to use your gift" (p. 137). In other words, being all that God intended you to be is an exciting adventure of discovery. It enables a person to discover who they are and the God who made them.
In making a point about God's sovereignty, Dr. Stanley notes "the Holy Spirit decides who gets which gifts" (p. 134). As a result, the person is seeking to discover what God has already put in place in his or her life. The adventure continues as one uses those gifts for the kingdom of God and His purposes.

At last! Wallking in the Spirit Explained!
The Wonderful Spirit-filled Life by Charles Stanley is one of the most important training books you can have in your private library. It's simple, clear, lucid teaching. It is NOT fanatical or extreme in its presentation of how to have a Spirit-filled walk. It is very direct. Very accurate. If you follow the basic steps, by book's end, you'll have an empowered Christian life. As a Charismatic, there are a few doctrinal points Stanley made that I don't agree with. However, they were not large enough to deter me from growing through this book, nor ordering extra copies to give away. Overall, a very balanced presentation that can take you to a deeper walk with the Master.

Very informative book about God's Holy Spirit
I bought this book for two main reasons. First, I want to know more about the Holy Spirit, and the role it has in my Christian walk. Second, I have heard Charles Stanley preach before, and he seems like a reliable source for helping further my Christian development. This book confirmed both my reasons.

In his book Dr. Stanley does an outstanding job of explaining how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. Although I do not agree with all of his conclusions about the Holy Spirit (most specifically when he talks about the limited availability of speaking in tongues for all Christians), overall, I think this book is right on target. Whether you are a new Christian, or have walked with God for years, I think that this book can help bring new light to a subject that is often misunderstood.

Using a lot of scriptures, and his extensive research on the subject, Dr. Stanley has greatly increased my understanding of the Holy Spirit. I liked the book because he offers a lot of practical advice about seeking God's Holy Spirit. I really enjoyed the fact that Dr. Stanley shares his own struggle with grasping everything that the Holy Spirit has to offer us as Christians. I think that many Christian leaders in his position would perhaps be too proud to discuss their own journey towards a greater understanding of God's spirit. Lastly, I think that this book has helped further my quest for knowledge about the Holy Spirit. Dr. Stanley includes a list of the resources he used while writing the book, at the end of each chapter which will serve as an excellent guide for me in the future.

I highly recommend this book to any believer who is wanting to learn more about the Holy Spirit. If you are like me, you want to learn the truth from a reliable source. I think this book will meet your need, if that is your desire.

Good!
This book is really good. Some of the words are a little hard for young kids, but if your parents can help you it's enjoyable. Kingsley's style and allegorical references make this a delight to the senses, not only as a story, but as an example of a writer who truly enjoys his craft.

The Water Babies
This book was a wonderful novel to read. It showed how little kids were treated durning this time period. Once the faries found Tom his life changed forever. The author explained how he started out as little boy and saying bad words to how he changed and in to a understanding boy. The book is a wonderful read because it shows what happens to others who don't know what it's like. Not all of this is true because it is a fairy tale. The author's one quote that stayed with me the most is "You're not supposed to belive all of this because it's a fairy tale even if you do believe. This is a powerful story and should be read to little children. It will show them that being bad is not the way to go. If kids learn tpo be nice when they are young then it can stop hatred and people being mean in future years.

British Fairy Tale: Ahead Of Its Time
The Water Babies is an excellent example of British Literature that should be promoted just as much as the works of Lewis Caroll or Dickens. Charles Kingsley's work was banned for quite a while. There is no question that this cleverly written fairy tale has a lot of hidden information to explore. Makes one wonder if one can still be an Anglican minister and promote evolution? Perhaps, one can. Mr. Kingsley has other wonderful works to explore and in addition, there is his niece, Mary Kingsley who wrote on Africa.

Great book but watch out for fustration
I say this cuz though I agree with all the reviews about what a great book this is, the pull out pages are alittle hard for small hands to slide in and out....leading to some fustration for toddlers who her do-it- themselfers or who say constantly "I DO IT!".....I began to avoid the book at reading time just cuz of this cuz my daugheer would get upset at not being able to do it.....luckily after awhile my daughter came to terms that if she wanted to read the book I'd have to slide out the pages for awhile...last time we read it at 25 mos., she slid them out fine....back in was alittle harder..: )

But I agree, a great, fun, colorful book...

Enchanting!
Your little ones will ROAR with delight from the unexpected surprise inside. "Who's Peeking" is an enchanting little board book, ingeniously conceived, it teaches children how to recognize animals by the sounds they make. "Who say's RIBBIT?" slide open the page and "Peek-a-boo! I'm a frog," the swampland becomes a green frog. Each page features brightly colored forms that become animals right before your very eyes: frog, pig, owl, gorilla, tiger, and cow. The concept is simple enough for babies to enjoy while offering lessons on color for older children. "Who's Peeking" is my favorite in Reasoner's "Sliding Surprise" series, with "Who's Mommy Is This" coming in 2nd. Buy this book you won't be sorry!

must have
i bought this for my first son. he loved it! especially when he was able to work the pages for himself. my second son has had trouble with words and verbal communication. this is one of the few books that he will insist that i read to him, right now.
