Graphic fairy tale
This book is bit graphic for young children--a horse's head is cut off and hung on a gate post. I do read this book to my second grade class but I do a bit of my own editing as I go along. Children love fairy tales and aside from the graphic content in a couple of places this book is a good bargain.

Definitely NOT what I expected
Having read several books on rape in the past year, I was ready for something deeper, more powerful, perhaps even a bit tougher to read. I purchased this book of poetry thinking that I would find what I was searching for. How very wrong I was. This thin book of poetry is definitely NOT worth the price. It was tough to read at certain points due to it's obviously graphic nature, but I did not find myself riveted to reading it...other than the fact that I felt I had to because I had paid so much for it. I do not recommend this book for rape survivors. It is not worth your time or your money.

Powerful
I thought that the idea of allowing rape survivors a channel in which to express their anger, fear, and sense of hope via poetry was very original. Yes, there are a number of books on rape, but usually they are not an anthology of survivors being allowed to be totally free in their expression. I thought the book was deep, and worth every penny. I highly recommend anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault to get this book and RELATE to the women between the covers.

Predictable, not much fun
I picked this book up from the library and read it over the holidays since I didn't have anything else to do. While I do enjoy some science fiction, this one was remarkably boring. The authors simply don't have the talent necessary to create real suspense. In addition, this book doesn't feature any of the scientific creativity that marks any good SF works.

The Island Worlds is set a few hundred years in the future, when some humans have established colonies in the asteroid belt. The Earth, meanwhile, is controlled by one government, and a group of bureaucrats is trying to shut down the space exploration industry, leading to a war between the "good guys" in space and the "bad guys" from Earth. The ending of the book is entirely predictable, and there aren't any major plot events that you can't see coming well in advance. Overall, this book just doesn't stand out from the thousands of other SF titles out there.

A critique of Malthusian thinking on capitalist development.
